Description This is a remix/master of a song I posted a few months ago. I added some synth and fixed a warbling vocal issue at the end. Just wanted to have a proper version up here.

R Sorensen - Music, Vocals, Guitars, End Synth
Scott Davies - 1st synth/piano solo, Percussion, Production
Lyrics Come to me again my new beautiful friend
Just open up your arms and let me in
It's been way too long
Since you've been where you belong
In my space and in my head again

Whisper in my ear
how you feel when you're here with me alone
Let's stay a thousand years
Let's just go away
Let's leave it all today
I don't care what they say
Let's leave them here

I keep thinking about you and when I close my eyes
I can see your face again
I keep thinking about the way you made me feel
I never wanted it to end

Come to me again my new beautiful best friend
Just open up your arms and let me in
It's been way too long
Since you've been where you belong
In my space and in my head again

You
are in
my head
again

Synthetic Parts
I liked the first version of this and I like this version even more. The synth parts really add a lot even though they are super candy coated. And Lavalamp is not being too kind when he says you have a great voice. You really are amongst the best, man. Really.

Rock on.

I have this song downloaded as well as a few of your others.

Thanks,

Bob

rsorensen said 280 days ago
:)
thanks bob that's really kind of you to say. I appreciate it.
initially i pulled away from using synths in this one because of the candy factor, especially the bridge solo, but it just doesn't sound complete without em!
Thanks for checking this out again.

five_extra_arms said 280 days ago
Artificial Sweeteners
I want to make sure you don't think I'm insulting this fine song. Those synths really do put the finishing touch on the song.

I downloaded it too, for the record.

Thanks!

Bob

rsorensen said 280 days ago
no no
nope I didn't think that at all! they are candy, but goooood candy ;) I was just a little cautious about them at first because of it... until I heard the song without 'em.

thanks for downloading!

You fooled me....
Thought this was going to be a Rick Springfield tribute song based on the intro :)

This is absolutely terrific! Such a great mix and sound. Guitar and vocal performance is fantastic... I can easily hear this playing on the radio- and it's one I wouldn't change the channel on.

Excellent song and top notch song art!

On a side note- how did you set up the V-drums for recording? My son a Roland V-Club set with the TD-6 module and I'd really like to record a song with live drums one of these days (even though I'm a crappy drummer).

rsorensen said 280 days ago
rick springfield
hah! I've always wanted to rock out a 'Jessie's Girl' cover.
Thanks for checking this out. As for the Vdrums, my recording pal Scott could probably explain it way better, but we plug it right into Cubase and go for it. Because each drum/cymbal is kind of tracked separately (but at the same time) it makes moving things round and editing a breeze.

Mcboy said 280 days ago

the space and presence of the first keys bit was pretty beautiful. When the tune took off I was blown away by the detail in the storm - really excellent. Great lyrics and vox too - this is pretty damn impressive.

yeah that first piano/synth break was done by my bandmate scott. when i first heard it i was like 'no way!' but i think it's absolutely brilliant now and steals the song imo. thanks for listening.

Well I definitely had Foo Fighters on the brain when I wrote this one. Particularly Everlong and All My Life. Those guys are masters of the slow build rock songs. February Stars is one of my definite faves of theirs. Thanks for listening.

Where the Heck Have I Been?
Sometimes being on this site is really upsetting because I hear songs like this that are so fantastic that they absolutely need to be on the radio, out there where the whole world is much more likely to hear them. This is absolutely professional in every way and it's a great song, as well.

Let's see. I LOVE your voice. The guitar work and tone is terrific. The way the song builds is spectacular. I want to marry the candy synths (they make the song really special) and you made some really unique and interesting arrangement choices throughout the song.

Really, if I ever wrote something this good, I could die happy. Awesome!

There are a small ....
.. handful of guys who have that "smokey male vocal voice" which captures my attention .. and you are one of them .... I keep asking myself what most of you guys are doing in your basements when you could truly be doing some serious recording ! Did I hear this on the radio ???? Should I have????

rsorensen said 277 days ago
:)
hah, well i DO have a lil home studio in my basement, but this one was done in a real studio. i'm extremely lucky to have a good friend who owns one and i'm recording a few songs for a CD all professional like. this is one of em.
Thanks a lot for listening and commenting please come again!

Radio Play
Is this just you or a band? This should be on the radio. Fantastic job. Is the Roland V-Drum a drum machine? If so your use of it was spectacular as the fills are so pure. Great vox. I would have liked to hear some differentiation between the first verse and the second verse, say hi-hat with a bass guitar or something like that and then the entire band coming in right after that. When the band kicks in it's so strong. Whay waste it at the end. Love the tune.

rsorensen said 277 days ago

Thanks so much for writing, recording and posting this uplifting song!
I hear a little "Jimmy Eat World" influence maybe? :-)
I do have a question... why do Canadians have such amazing singing voices??
Is it something in the water?
I dated a Canadian girl in high school (in Texas) and everyone in her family had a "sing-song" quality to their voice.
Cheers man!
p.s. - when you release that full length album, I will gladly buy it from you.

rsorensen said 228 days ago

I do like JEW, but I was going for a Foo Fighters slow build type thing with this one. Maybe a little Pinkerton B-side era Weezer with the synths as well. Thanks for checking out my older stuff. Really glad you like it so much.
