Description sometimes you can feel like you are in a time warp. things have changed over the years. But still, sometimes you feel the same as you might of years ago. The big thing I personally notice is that time seems to speed up....... or I'm slowing down.
Lyrics There Are Days

maybe it's just me
seems that yesterday took so long
now these days go so fast
I wish they could slow down

ch.
and the world changed
there are days that seem the same
did the world change
there are days I'm not the same
there are days

did you feel the sun
did you hear the moon
did you feel the grass
did you notice the wind
did you count the days
til the next birthday
did you feel the world
closing in on you

ch.
and the world changed
there are days that seem the same
did the world change
there are days I'm not the same
there are days

i was young a superman
really no reason to make any plans
how these days go so fast
I wish they could slow down

ch.
and the world changed
there are days that seem the same
did the world change
there are days I'm not the same
there are days

ch.
and the world changed
there are days that seem the same
did the world change
there are days I'm not the same
there are days

Vic Holman said 319 days ago
Thanks Kenta
I think you are right. we are slowing down. some mornings I move as slow as a turtle.

Mcboy said 319 days ago
hehhehe
"Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There Is a Season" could'nt resist the comparison on some level.......maybe the era...but this is kool vic....

p.s. : there is a song i'm working that maybe u could grace with some guitar for that sound...u know...that holman sound.....i'll note ya when the vocalist sends his track...to see if u r interested......cya....

Vic Holman said 319 days ago
Thanks Mcboy
Of course I wish I only had to go through one season instead of four.

Sounds good to me. sure, I'm up for it.

magnatone said 319 days ago
Oh Wow
I agree with the "Turn, Turn, Turn" thought - which is a really GOOD thing to me too. This is just a wonderful song - love your lyrics, vocals, harmonies and the way it all goes together. Gotta check out more of you! Thanks.

Vic Holman said 319 days ago
Thanks!
I appreciate you giving this a listen.

The funny thing was I ad libed the vocals originally. transcribed them then redid the vocals. what was funny about it was I spent 3 days trying to come up with lyrics.

aclarke said 319 days ago
Not sure why
But this tune really makes me long for spring. 84" inches of snow here so far this winter- every day seems the same... did NOT feel the sun.

Very nice song... cool vocal, great mix and man, some sweet guitar playing too. You got it all!

Vic Holman said 319 days ago
i agree
i am sooo looking forward to spring. we had one of our nastiest winters. Nothing like getting your car high centered in snow. It's just going to take forever to melt off.

thanks for time out to listen. I appreciate it.

Time Burns on
Vic, this just floats and takes the listener on a neat aural journey
I like the understated guitars and infectious groove, I like the early 60's beat and the phased out solo, very nice indeed!

Vic Holman said 319 days ago
Thanks Tom
i must of been in a drifting state of mind putting this one together. The solo has a Leslie speaker simulator plug in that is so dead on sound.

Your tune with Mcboy was fantastic!

echoroom said 319 days ago
Dreamy
Lovely poppy track, and swear to god, your vocals get better and better - really warm, with lovely harmonies in the chorus. The mix is stunning on this - warm and natural sounding with a lot of space. lyrically, yeah, love this... more Clark than superman these days!

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
thanks Steve
I started dinking around with some odd chords that are in the chorus. somehow it reminds me of the Twin Peaks theme.

I struggled with trying to come up with some lyrics for 4 days running and couldn't come up with anything. As i was setting up the vocal tracks I started improvising and ad libbing. in a matter of minutes this is what I had, transcibed them, and did the vocals in one pass on the first run through. that was freaky.

KCsGROOVE said 319 days ago
fine song
Like this one! Has a bit of the Byrds sound indeed and that is great! 70-s feel!
Very nice!
KC

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
thanks KC
i wasn't getting the Byrds reference at the start. finally dawned on me late this morning on what everyone was picking up on. Boy, am I slow on the pick up.

thanks for enjoying it!

lavalamp said 318 days ago
Great sound
You always produce such a nice sound. Guitars and voice are outstanding. Well-written with catch chorus.

Look forward for more.
Dave

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
Hey Dave
thanks for giving it a listen. I had to work on this in bits and pieces over the last two weeks. I was pretty happy that it came out fairly smooth.

now on to that other project

Moviz said 318 days ago
Yes Vic
you're correct; not only do the years go faster but they gain momentum as well ; Loved the sounds you created on this and the nice lyrics too. The vocal is great and the double track sounds good..... very enjoyable song, regards M

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
well....
... i guess that time waits for no one. I'm going to have to work faster to make up for the lost time. I wonder if it's a cruel trick of nature.

thanks for the listen Maurice

peacepiano said 318 days ago
Slow Down
There are definitely days when I want the world to slow down and let me off. Great song!

Thanks
Bill

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
Thanks Bill
slow down yes. heck, I sometimes feel guilty if I take a nap on a weekend afternoon.

TEXASFEEL said 318 days ago
Vic
Your so original. It's always a pleasure to hear one of your tunes because I always know it's going to sound different from anything I'm use to listening to. Your building your own signature. Very enjoyable tune.

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
Thanks John
thanks for the kind words. i think no matter how hard I try to sound different it always comes back sounding like the style i've been creating. i guess that ain't bad.

lengold said 318 days ago
I agree
with Steve, your vocals are definitely getting better with each song. Great song, great performance. You really do have your own unique sound. I am getting so old that I wake up before I've gone to bed now.
Cheers
Len

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
thanks Len
my downfall has been i never practice singing until I record. I'm feeling a bit more confident with it now. Now I have to find the time to go back and redo a lot of tunes. Ironic, like when will I find the time.

Feter said 318 days ago

Wo ..this is very much harrison groo to my ears .
totaly a blast my friend .you just so cool on
arraging these songs to sound so classic ,Excellent !!
KUDOS ... !!!!

Vic Holman said 318 days ago
Thanks Feter
classic rock still holds up. Now if only I had a time machine. I could go back with my songs and make millions of dollars:) oh well, I enjoy doing it for free.

said 318 days ago
Hey Vic
No matter what dont ever stop or slow down no matter how fast it goes by. your music is growing and it keeps its own time. Thanks for the music its a great time to be alive!!!!!!!!!!! then again mabye not

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
Tim!!
of course it's a good time to be alive. better then the alternative.

I'm slower but more methodical

Youra said 318 days ago
Hey Vic !
So good to hear again your sour pop songs and your so particular voice. Good to be back here. Well done, Vic.

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
long time....
... no see! good to see you around again.

yes, I'm still around grinding them out for better or worse.

jiguma said 318 days ago
Love this one VIC!
Floaty post Beatles - big sound - Marc Bolan in the vox - don't hear Turn Turn Turn at all really - great turnarounds - and an invite from Mr Boy. What more could you ask for?
;)
Neil

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
thanks Neil
i kind of mixed this one up a little differently by putting the bridge after the first chorus. I hope a songwriters guild don't have there own goon squad to correct me on that.

Cori Ander said 318 days ago
Yes I beliveve
Yes I beliveve it s the world that has changed, probably the whole, because it is exactly the same here on this side of the globe.

Have often wondered if it is just me getting older.. so in a way I'm happy for this song because it shows me I'm not alone. One the other hand, maybe I should worry over where this is gonna end. In 20 years from now, if we haven't yet blown the planet, then maybe we just wake up and then .. pfffitttt .. it's time for bed.

Great song!
Thank you!

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
thanks Cori
the times sure are different compared growing up. now time goes by so fast it's hard to keep up. as a teenager i would spend 4 hours a day playing guitar. I sure miss that luxury.

Cori Ander said 317 days ago
.
Me too .. for sure ..

davisamerica said 317 days ago
right then vic
this rocks and ur guitar sounds are still amazing!

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
guitars
i tend to build parts to compliment each other then double each part with different eq. thats how i get a big stereo sound. The leslie speaker plug in is my favorite effect. i would play it on every song if I could.

thats for listening!

said 317 days ago
Your music...
has become the MacJams' metaphor for the sixties music that I so love... as Mcboy said, "that Holman sound."

Jack

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
Thanks Jack
at least i don't record in mono, or have had mono. I probably got over saturated as a kid from the sixties music. remember when bands use to put out good albums every 6 months? that has changed with time.

DWL said 317 days ago
Not only the music is good
but your lyrics are always so good and underrated I reckon.

Cheers

Dick

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
Thanks Dick
I always dread the writing lyrics part. I spent 3 days trying to figure something to do. here, i just started ad libing to check volume levels. these are what came out right odd the bat. transcribed and re-recorded the vocals. now why can't i do that all the time.

said 317 days ago
I was put more in mind of...
"The Circle Game" and "Big Yellow Taxi" you know by Joni Mitchell : ) waxing nostalgic and trying to gain a perspective on what this life is and has all been about.

"a lifetime spent
in single copper coins counted
one by one.
And yet every second is a gift
greater than a man's gold."
- ( CJ ) : )
P.S. Lately I like these songs by Mazzy Star "Fade Into You", and Mercury Rev "The Dark Is Rising" ~(A)~ (they're not new - just new to me)

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
Hi CJ
now there were a lot of times in the past i was counting copper until payday. But, you got by and life was simple and carefree. god times then, good times now. this is a re-take of stopping and taking the time to smelling the roses

bud said 317 days ago
Super fantatsic pop rock magic
Terrence McKenna saw time as a nautilus shell - a spiral of chambers growing smaller as it progresses towards what he called the eschaton (the end of days if you will). However he didn't see it as the end - but as a point of transition - a transcendence of time perhaps.
Feel better?

Vic Holman said 317 days ago
hey Bud
.. but i always feel good.

maybe, it's that we are working stiffs now and don't get the time to goof off.

But the other side of the coin is that we have cooler toys to play with these days!

Doadars Uncle said 317 days ago
Wow
You read my mind!

I'm feeling the world changed!

This song IS about me...

Vic Holman said 316 days ago
Thanks Doug
I'm pretty sure everyone thinks it at some time in their life. There's that moment when when you stop and realize hey where did the time go. It also doesn't help when a younger co-worker says. "hey, my dad has that album too."

five_extra_arms said 316 days ago
I Wanna See You Sing
Vic,

you are such a talented songwriter. The singing on this song stands out for me from all of your others, for some reason. There's something so sweet about this song. Sentimental and missing the lawn mower/gravel pit combination that I've grown accustomed to. I love it. I really need a photo or a video to connect you to your songs. Please honor my request immediately.

Your guitar leads fall constantly into the unforgettably perfect category.

This is another fine example of your abilities as a singer/song writer/producer/whatever. You always amaze me Vic.

Thanks again and again!

Bob

Vic Holman said 316 days ago
my brave face
Well, I don't have the elaborate equipment to do a high budget hollywood production number like your video. But, I'll see what I can put together. Maybe that will be my weekend project. And I can show off my gear and setup as well.

Now i feel i need to go back and re-record a lot of vocals on past songs. i'm getting a bit more comfortable with it.

Thanks Bob. You're one of the coolest!

five_extra_arms said 307 days ago
Elaborate Equipment
Now that I know what you look like, where you sit and record your incredible songs and how much snow you have piled around your palm trees, I have a greater understanding of the song writing genius I know as Vic Holman. You are a cool guy and we would be real life friends if the Mississippi River wasn't so wide.

Thanks Vic for letting me in on your secret life. I promise I won't mention the midgets for as long as I am allowed on this site.

Your pal,

Bob Dorsey

Vic Holman said 307 days ago
yes
yes the midgets do refer to me as mr. brad pitt.

and i am keeping them busy peeling all the bark off the palm trees. It's nice to keep the yard and wildlife tidy!

Interesting pic vic
the music fits in quite nice. Like the lightness of this, your voice sound nice here. Like the texture of the strums of the guitar and much more.

Thanks for sharing!

Vic Holman said 315 days ago
spring is coming....
.... that always sets a good mood. now if only the snow would melt faster up here.

I appreciate you taking the time to hear it.

And the picture i created in freehand a graphics program. I've been in a robot mood for a while

HypnotiQ Sorcere said 315 days ago
nice
That is a killer guitar sound, very 80s new waveish, but the instrumentation is kinda 70ish
i dig it
very nice

Vic Holman said 315 days ago
thanks much
usually I'm accused of the sixties revival. (whether I know it or not) But, what can I say I enjoy playing guitar.

Thanks for the listen. appreciated!

dajama said 314 days ago
Great sound
and love the sentiment. The vocal is great, and some of those lines really hit home - made me think! Your guitar is outstanding as ever - you have such a distinctive sound, and such lovely melodic playing. Nicely done. Peace.

... i know i get so caught up in work and everything go on, that i know i need to remind myself to stop. slow down and notice the small things. Other wise you miss alot.

sorry this is late, but i get so crazy sometimes. anyways:

great song. it's weird, this is way different than most of your stuff, but your voice and the actual sound of your "band" places it firmly in the Vic Holman genre.

i love the chorus on this one. that solo is great too, really everything. you do this 60's psych pop so well. if i ever get around to instigating the "lets cover each others songs" challenge, i might have to do this song. excellent.

Vic Holman said 311 days ago
thanks Michael
talk about weird. I was stuck for lyrics for 3 or 4 days. but ad libed some out of boredom. and i got these. If i hadn't done that, I was about to ask for your help.

Also, I've been giving serious thought of covering someones tune (with permission of course) wether there is a competition or not. (there's some older ones by you and Steve) that I've been giving thought to. for the fun of it.

Pete_NB said 310 days ago
How do you get...
...everything to sound so big yet airy?! This is a great wave of sound breaking on my ears.

Poignant lyrics for off the cuff! It applies to everyone. I stopped making the effort to get out to the studio after my son was born but realized that life is passing me by and I should "carpe diem: so to speak.

Granted, I still wait until after kiddie bedtime, tut then time flies by far to quickly while out in the studio.

Wishing the time away is never a good idea but I agree on the winter sentiments. I will be foregoing studio time tonight to clean my roof of snow.

Sigh.

Vic Holman said 310 days ago
hey pete
E.Q.ing and good compression wins half the battle. And of course a lot of trail and error.

maybe it's just that time accelerates when you get older. be careful on that roof. we finally have been in a meltdown stage. revealing a lot of lost hubcaps

Thanks for Sharing!
Great song by all means Master Vic, terrific performance and as always you amaze me with your recording and quality (how can i believe that this is HOME RECORDING?!).

I guess that you should be working on a new CD sir, truly amazing. Hats OFF!

Take Care
- Yeman A. Al-Rawi

Vic Holman said 309 days ago
Hi Yeman
recording gets easier after a lot of goof ups. takes as much practice as playing the guitar. actually more time.

Good job o the new tune. i guess we will be seeing more of you around here this summer.
