We'll bring the fire down! When Alan sent this to me, I got chills. I've done a lot of moody stuff lately and really wanted to do something rocking, which is the stuff I listen to. Anyway, I'm hoping they play this at the Republican Party convention this year. A real pleasure working with these guys! Thank you so much for the invite! Cpt. steve |

super power collab!!! great tune! great lyrics! great performances by all! my only nit is that perhaps the vocals overpower everything else. i really like what the instruments are doing, and would like to hear more of them... but that's only minor this really is a killer track guys. you all deserve a huge pat on the back. steve, it's nice to hear you really lay the 'smack' down! again, guys killer, killer, killer! we need more stuff like this! |

Thanks very much Jason .. hopefully not large patriots on our backs! *broom tish* ;o) ..I was keen to re-vamp this one as another one for the MJ metal/hard rock camp, motivated by the great work you and Allen are doing. |

But I thought heavy metal music was always about Satan? Oh, wait, it's about G.W. Bush. Never mind. Excellent work guys. Good writing, good playing, good mixing and producing. |

Lyrically amazing! I've seen your future and it's history... somewhere's gotta be evil...there's only our kind of freedom. I think some metal doesn't feature the vocals 'cause the vocals are incoherent (which isn't a bad thing--Thom Yorke, one of my favorite singers, is often incoherent). However, this ASKS to be vocal heavy, 'cause the lyrics are so poignant. I think ducking was a good idea because the intro is definitely a power house tribute to the instruments. And they sound amazing. Anyway, incredible collab. I'd submit it to the next volume of "Rock Against Bush". |

I Personally Believe... That when a song has a strong message, the vocal should be more prominent. It's often a tricky bit of business to find a happy medium in the mix, but I'd rather hear them clearly like they are hear. Nice work all around... Ian's solid Rhythm section, Alan's somewhat Bostonesque guitar work and Steve's Bowie-like vocals. Somehow I kept hoping for some flaming smoke cannons, but saw none. :p --- Joe |

Good one guys! Don't tell me I beat Feter to a song! But I digress - Like all the playing/singing/writing/etc, but agree about the vocals being too big in the mix - just doesn't fit the syle. An easy fix no doubt. Cheers from Oz, Neil |

It Really is a killer, song, playing, vocals, mixing and the truth like it is. Really great stuff and that guitar riff tone has that 'War of the Worlds' guitar sound which really suits this song. Great vocals (I say it again) and brilliantly done all round. Ready for radio this one, cheers M |

wow and thanks to everyone! I had a lot of fun playing on this.... and I consider it my 1st official MJ collab (insert "yay" here).... APB asked me to clarify what I used in way of Software & Hardware so here it goes.....this will be the most detailed I've ever gotten about my gear and wanderings....here goeth the geeketh speaketh.... Software Used: Pro-Tools 5.2.1 (OS 9), Cubase LE(OS X), Ampeg SVX Comps: 2003 eMac G4 700 MHZ RAM 768 megs w/MAudio Buddy 2000 Mac G4 Tower 500 MHZ Ram 640 Megs w/ DIGI 001 and Presonus BlueTube Preamp Bass Rig: Fender HM-5, 5 String Bass w/ 3 Jazz Bass Pickups on a 5 way selector switch.... Ran into a small and very cheap plastic silver Zoom guitar multi effect pedal..... I used a healthy dose of distortion and a mild speaker emulator....from there into the Blue Tube with a fair amount of tube drive....from there into the DIGI 001 into Pro-Tools.... A touch of Comp....then out of Pro-Tools....transfered to the eMac.... into Cubase where I then applied the Ampeg SVX Plug In via VST....In Ampeg SVX I used the BA-500 head w/ the 8x10 cab mic'd w the 441 on axis at a far setting.... mic distance slider set to four....from there to APB to you Drum Kit: This is a bit of a hodge podge.... my rack tom 13x13 (mounted on a RIMS mount), floor tom(s)16x16,(note: I also have an 18x18 floor tom but did not use it in this session) and kick 24x16 are all Mid 70's Slingerlands w/ Maple Shells....The Snare was a Mid 90's Steel Ludwig Supra 400 w/ Hand Hammered Shell (I also own a mid 80's Rogers Snare but again did not use it on this session) Batter heads are all Remo White Coat Ambassadors except the kick which is a clear Evans....(note: I prefer clear emperor heads for my toms but on my last trip to the store all they had were white coats....) Cymbals: 14" Zildjian Hi-Hats, 18" Zildjian A Custom Crash, 20" Zildjian Heavy Crash and a 20" Zildjian Medium Thin Crash(cracked and lovely) and a 22" UFIP Ride Kick Pedal: 1991 Tama Double Pedal Sticks: Vic Firth Buddy Rich Model-Hickory-(yes I hate that they are only made in white, but nothing feels better in my stubby fingers) Mics: For the Kick I used a Shure Beta 58 inside the kick drum, a Shure SM-57 was used on the snare....and 2 Apex Large Diaphragm Condesor mics for overheads....kick and snare went straight into the front of the DIGI and the overheads went into the Blue Tube then into the DIGI....once in Pro-Tools I applied compression and EQ to individual drum tracks....that's it....NO REVERB....they were in my diningroom w/ wood floors....so the room has enough of it's own....overheads were fairly low to the kit to get a nice balance between the cymbals and the toms....the cymbals can cut and the toms still thud....some of the best recordings of drums have been done using only 2 or 3 mics.... so let it be a lesson....use the room....not the plug-in....the best reverb is made by God and it's all around you....so dial it in wherever you are and use it....then out of Pro-Tools w/ the separated drums tracks....from there to APB to you If anyone has anymore questions (settings, superstitions) feel free to hit me up....I've been so long winded I now feel foolish.... oh well....thanks to the boyz 4 letting me make my noyze....I can't believe the response this song has gotten and it hasn't even been up 24 hours yet....thanks again :) peace....Ian |

I dig this Its something about a song sung with an english accent that brings a new dynamic to it. I'm really liking this. One question; it sounds kinda like its more than one person singing at times and I was wondering did you work some effect, record the vocals twice and layered them all together or was there really more than one person singing. Just a question. I really like the Bush clip in it. Great message all around. |

Great, powerful song Amazing sound, and terrific performances. The production on this is outstanding - professional sounding in every way - and the playing is so good. Great placement of the guitars in the mix, in particular, so everything is there, but not overwhelming. Great lyrics, and performed with real passion. What a great combination of talent! Nice work, guys. Peace. By the way, Steve, the Republican Convention is here in St. Paul this year, so maybe I'll stand outside with a ghetto blaster and see what happens... |

Metal Protest Nice collab guys. This song rocks. If they had metal in the 60's maybe the protest songs would have been taken more seriously. Or at least been heard more. Anyway thanks for sharing this. chip |

Fantastic! Great sound but I would have liked louder guitars because they had such great tone- hooked me immediately. Unbelievable vocal and a powerful protest song... a modern day "War Pigs" if you will. Amazing how easy it is to collaborate these days, isn't it? |

Great... ...and, the sicker part of it (as if it wasn't bad enough) is that the military industrial complex ain't bringin' the bucks into the countries like it used to...like so many other financial arenas: it's going more and more into private hands...and the plot just sickens and sickens... From the artwork through everything in the tune, this is really something...kudos, guy...wish it wasn't this way... |

FINALLY!! GOT HERE! Man i love this tune. Those drums are amazing. and that6 guitar riff! everythings so polished and tight. I cant believe you got that drum sound using 4 mics 2 of which are dynamics! I really want to try my hand at recording a kit one day. The arrangement is great too. That bit with the G.W Bush quotation reminded me of Guns n Roses 'Civil War', one of my favorite tunes. Thanks for this Guys! Fav'd downloaded Right, now of to here some of your other stuff. MZ |
