Description My first MacJams post, my most recent song. I guess you'd say I'm sort of a visitor from iComps, but seeing how the community here seems very welcoming, I thought I'd post a song.

This is a true story about two friends of mine in high school. It's not really explicit, but maybe a little mature (or immature, depending on your perspective).

Special thanks for car SFX provided by aspergineering at the freesound project.
Lyrics She says she likes it fast
But you can’t believe her
She tells me to floor it
Though I'm inclined to leave her

Despite how I feel
I give in to her will
but the benefit for me I see
Is little next to nill

She begged me for a ride,
but I didn't want to go
A rough day at school
I just it let go, you know
I put the stick in overdrive
And gave it all my best
Not sure what she wanted
I know it wasn’t rest

She was in her highest whine
pulling round the curve
Thinking of her later
I think she lost her nerve

I’d done what I could do
And it had been a thrill
sometimes things can overflow
leading to a spill

Sticky black leather
It should light my fire
thinking what I have to clean
Makes smiling me, a liar

We never spoke again,
what happened on that day
I wish things were different
That she hadn't got her way

She begged me for a ride,
but I didn't want to go
A rough day at school
I just it let go, you know
I put the stick in overdrive
And gave it all my best
Not sure what she wanted
I know it wasn’t rest

Petrol Vapors leaking through the floor well :)l
Genre: Early 80's/Punk

Listeners (first) Interpretation (without reading lyrics): The song visually sets the stage seeing two teenagers (boyfriend & girlfriend) in a 1970 Fastback outer shell, sprayed black primer and bondo beside the wheel wells. The boy didn't want to really break up with her but he saw her make-out with Ted at Dan's Garage, down on Main.

Pros: Thick/Deep bass that sets the pace very well. The bass guitar works great on the off-beats in conjunction with the drums. The vocals are unique and yet take an unconventional approach (rhythmically singing instead of harmony) that I believe works very well in this piece! The rhythm guitar holds down the 'melody' and is very consistence throughout the piece. The SPX (car revving/running) works well and sounds real good through a sub-woofer. The Production does fit well for this unique piece.

Cons: N/A

Suggestions: I can't think of any..LOL writers block :)

In Cars
Has a cool Cars meets Gary Neumann thing happening. I love to see Ashley's comments here, they entertain me so much. Great to see you around here too, Lenny.

This has just the right amount of punk, it would sound so cool coming out HUGE speakers live in concert.

Brilliant stuff
my friend! there's almost a punk feel to this, which i totally dig, and a lot of humour too, which i dig even more! the bass is my fav here, and i think you chose just the right effect on the vox (lyrics are killer!)
