Description Little storyboard : the poor Eleonore, the naughty Alfredo and the brave Deborah...
Greg, thank you very much for your translation...
Eleonore goes cruising on a raft ; she tacks and despairs, ‘cause it lets water in...

Well done Eleonore ! You ‘ve left harbour without inspecting your ship first.

You are now shipwrecked : you ought to swim and make efforts...

Alfredo is on a pilgrimage… in the ocean... feeling a bit peckish.

He just slaughters Eleonore. Farewell, Eleonore…

While digesting Eleonore, Alfredo falls asleep… On waking, he begs for some more drops

as he ran aground on this beach, water has been evaporating under the sun...

What a strange position that that of Deborah, going over the wall of her orphanage.

She goes near the poor soul that has been found on the sand, at the aquarium, which is now his new kingdom...

Alfredo la dévore de son regard
Alfredo eyes her greedily,

when she approaches his pond.

But what did Deborah take in the cupboard of the orphanage ?

This is a small festive toy, that sticks a dart in the smiling murderer’s skin,

before he sinks into the dark, ‘cause the sharp needle pours its curare out.

Alfredo est alors sur le départ
Alfredo in on departure now.

pourquoi ce mauvais sort il veut savoir
Why such a curse ? He wants to know…

« Some day, a raft » the little girl says, « and Mummy… »

« Mummy, who went cruising on a raft… »

Wonderful tune
I loved this from the opening echoed piano chords, and then your wonderful rich voice came in.... and it was magical. A wonderful contemporary yet classical sounding track - this was well worth the wait.

Excellent, my friend.

Well Marc
This was well worth waiting for... such class and style (but that's what the French are known for anyway) I loved it from the opening.... and the background instruments are great along with your very expressive voice. An unusual lyric, but that adds to the quality of this song along with you the French language, regards M

Great sound!
Very pleasing to the ear; wonderful instrumentation. Bizarre lyric; kind of a Lou Reed story; intrigue. C'est bon, homme! I like the way the keys seem to travel right to left at the beginning. I love the sound of the guitars when they come in; well done.

Salut!

I agree with Steve: the piano chords are chilling. Your voice beautiful.

I have to say that with only the ability to read the lyrics in translation, I enjoy the poetry of your writing and your personality, which shows through. A compelling, surreal subject for a song. You are a true artist!

Succinct Story Line
Dark, karmic and ironic little *fish* tale, delivered with distinctive style.

And we just don't hear enough songs nowadays that include curare as a plot device. LOL

My only suggestion would be to occasionally vary the chord-pounding piano part, either with arpeggiated chords, or with off-beat rhythms. As it stands, the current part contrasts somewhat awkwardly with the rest of the arrangement, which is fairly fluid and lush.

Still, this is a very interesting and imaginative work. ;)

Love how you echo the music traces of my favorite music which is Enya, you have a feel like that and that a fav sound of mine. And that is getting somewhere when you maintain a sound like that I think.

Magical Fantasy
I enjoy so much about this song. When I was a little girl, my parents listened to Charles Aznavour all the time and I've continued to as an adult and all my friends think I'm crazy, but there's something magic in his songs, that I hear in yours, too. This one, especially in the lyrics is like Charles Aznavour on acid.

Your singing is so expressive here, the way you sing the phrases, even though I can't understand the words, I really feel as though you're communicating to me. I'm so in love with your singing on this song!

The segue into the guitar from the piano is also magical. I know that this is a song I'll be listening to again and again. Thank you SO much for posting it!

what a lovely little tale, and musical backing is gorgeous. as the lyric is usually the last thing i notice in a song, i liked hearing your words. you've got a powerfully gentle vocal delivery, and the relentless pounding piano distracted from that somewhat for me. of course, that may be exactly what you are looking for! the sweet calm that followed was just beautiful. bravo, marc - good to hear your voice again.
