song ...beside its a sweet strat pickin as always !!
happy Holiday friend !

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
I think
it's just a chorus on high speed-not sure it's just a joke!!

futzpucker said 346 days ago
My advice:
Seek help.

Get yourself looked at. Something could be amiss...

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Well
I have been feeling a little strange-All work and no play makes Mark a dull boy..All work and no play makes Mark a dull boy..All work and no play makes Mark a dull boy.....Ha ha heeeee....

Moviz said 346 days ago
I just
knew you'd have to open that bottle of plonk before the party LOL... Reminds me of a terrific Female Pianist I knew, who would start to play out of tune whenever the audience began to talk, then when they took notice she'd smile sweetly and drift back in tune LOL. This is a great rendition, cheers M

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Just
a joke glad you were amused!

peacepiano said 346 days ago
LOL
Funny version of funny song. I vote for comedy, but what do I know??

Thanks
Bill

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Thanks
for listening to my joke song!

Ejh said 346 days ago
YES! Takes me right back...
...to Christmas at Wood & Strings Music Center...The celebrated, the legendary Mark Stunkel rendition of "Rudolph in Two Keys Simultaneously"...

All I need now is a stale Danish and some hot cider that's been sitting in a hot pot for six hours...

Ed

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Thanks for
reminding me about this Ed.Lots of people would have missed an important musical experience had you not mentioned it in my last song comments.I've become so inspired that I am now working on a version of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" for orchestra with jaw harp soloist.

aclarke said 346 days ago
Sounds a bit more like....
"Rudolph's Acid Trip". Maybe it's time for a new Holiday-Comedy genre here. The time has come!

Definitely not your run of the mill version of "Rudolph".

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Thanks for
your comment-I like to throw in something bizarre once in awhile!

gail60 said 346 days ago
awwwwww
This is so gorgeous. Wow. I cannot wait to download this for all the good little girls and boys! You are such a talent. LOL.. LOL Oh my.....I must say, what a crazy surprise. Don't do that. Ewwwww!

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Sorry
to subject you to my sometimes kind of weird sense of humor.I promise my next song will be more normal!

Allen Dean said 346 days ago

From Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas?
BTW: Don't forget to ask Santa for a new string to replace the one you broke at the end of the song...

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Actually
I broke several. Thanks for your comment!

lengold said 346 days ago
Like the
Clown on the high wire. Masterful and funny.
Cheers
Len

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
Thanks
Thanks Len!

guitapick said 345 days ago
Reminds me...
...of this steady gig I had at a big restaurant with no sound system. I was too broke to afford an amp. But I'd get up there with my nylon string and "play with a flourish". Good practice time. When I'd get bored, I'd purposely play a fret up, keeping all the same fingerings, complete with open strings.

But all with a flourish...to resounding applause at the end of each and every piece.

Yes...Santa will be proud of this, Mark.

LOL...thanks for the gift, man.

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
I've
done lots of gigs like that. Most of the time I could probably just play a D chord for 2 hours and no one would notice. Thanks for your comments!

michael2 said 345 days ago
awesome
so twisted, love those bass notes. did you use a weird tuning on this one? so haunting, i'm really jealous.

Ibstrat said 345 days ago
No
it's not a weird tuning.I just messed around and figured out a bizarre bass line.My 9 year old thinks it's hilarious!

sloparts said 345 days ago
I almost recognized it immediately
Way to have some Christmas Cheer Mark. Kind of a neat rendition. Love the album artwork, it fits.

Thanks for sharing

Ed

Thanks
for checking out my joke Christmas song.

Vic Holman said 345 days ago
i want to be a dentist...
...giving out laughing gas to all my patients.

funny, now we know the real reason why rudolph had a red nose.

Ibstrat said 344 days ago
Made me
Think of that Pink Panther Movie where Inspector Clusoe poses as a dentist and gives himself laughing gas. Thanks for your comment.

dajama said 345 days ago
I believe the young 'uns would
say this was "off the hook" (or is that off the wall...?) Either way, it made me smile. I love the screenshots from the TV special - a cultural phenomenon I was not familiar with growing up in Ireland. But as a freshly-minted American I consider it my duty to watch every year (with my 5 year-old) and it cracks me up every time. Nice one. Peace.

Ibstrat said 344 days ago
It is
pretty off the wall-my kids think it's pretty funny. Thanks for listening to it!

Scott Carmichael said 345 days ago
Yes Mark
indeed.. I also love to explore alternate tunings... and how long have you been playing fretless guitar... these and other comments that I could apply to this post...

but the funny thing is... I can still hear your technical exellence through all of that...

and this comes the closest to capturing my particular Christmas spirit... my favorite pagan holiday :)

Ibstrat said 344 days ago
Well
it's not an alternate tuning, but my frets are getting pretty worn out so I may be playing fretless soon.I'm glad you enjoyed this little joke!

damiengh said 345 days ago
Hiccup
Man, that was funny. Felt like I woke up in the middle of the night, to find myself back 50 christmases, stumbling in the dark to see if I got any presents under the tree.
Or after one has had as many drinks as this lady:

Warble
I haven't had alcohol in 18 years, but wow, this takes me right back to the unsteady equilibrium of a pre-holiday social. And it's Rudolph!! Thanks for the *hic* flashback.

Ibstrat said 344 days ago
Check out
the link that Damiengh left me above it's pretty funny!

perceptualvortex said 343 days ago
Hahaha
Yup

bud said 343 days ago
I'm really afraid of what I might hear
if I were to play this backwards.
!sreehC

Ibstrat said 343 days ago
I wasn't going
to let out the secret...play it backwards and you will hear "Revolution 9" by the Beatles.

kristyjo said 343 days ago
Uh oh-
Rudolph must've gotten stuck in that ice storm!
Funny - great rendition.

Ibstrat said 343 days ago
Thanks for
listening to my fractured Christmas song!

Ives
Charles Ives would have been pleased! A very different kind of track. It's so wrong, it's right!

I'm trying to figure out if you accomplished the two-keys effect by actually playing those wrong notes, or if you de-tuned the bottom three strings of your guitar. Either way, it's very wrong-right.

Ibstrat said 340 days ago
Wrong
I'm a big Charles Ives fan-I love his 2nd Symphony which ends on a ridiculous dissonant chord.
I didn't retune the strings but I probably should have...It would have been easier to play!
