Description Last night while I was waiting for the few remaining songs to drift in to the Lost Songs Project I was fiddling with my shortwave radio and came across this number that sounded really familiar - the sender was some kid who had gotten his hands on some studio out-takes a few years back and was transmitting to see if anyone could help him identify the artist and the album it might have come from. Got any ideas?

bud said 400 days ago

Vic Holman said 400 days ago
I'm gonna bet a quarter
Radiohead Bud from Kid A.

Loved it!!!

bud said 400 days ago
Your guess
is as good as mine.

Ibstrat said 400 days ago
Great song
I'd have to 2nd the Radiohead nomination. The guitar sounds like it's about to explode. Is that a real amp?

bud said 400 days ago
Thanks you sir -
that amp you hear exploding is just the fuzz setting in GB3 cranked a little. Crazy huh?

Godchaser said 400 days ago
I know this isn't...
gonna be politically correct but.....I don't care what this is.This rocks!

Blessings,

bud said 400 days ago
I'm not a PC guy
thanks.

Karmatoburn said 400 days ago
on the airwaves
a way cool track. psychedelic at times. Fab sounding crunch like guitar work. a little like the lead singer from the band Filter. choice cut

bud said 400 days ago
Nice of you to stop by KarmaTB
I appreciate the comments.

davisamerica said 400 days ago
right then bud
this one is a tuffy..lol...may go with radio head but maybe not..none the less extremely nifty tune!

bud said 400 days ago
You might be right about that
Thanks.

Diviner said 400 days ago
HHHmmmm Radiohead
I might have to concur with other peoples guess I'm afraid, however I will say that this a very cool track and enjoyed this very much. Top marks Bud. Also Cheers for the LSP concept, its brilliant.

bud said 400 days ago
HHHmmm - you really think so?
glad you stopped bu and thanks for LSP prop.

Peter Bauckham said 400 days ago
This album
would have been a lot better if this was on it! Sounds like Radiohead and Kid A, only much better...

Petet

bud said 400 days ago
Oh that's a pretty good album
you're talking about Peter.

michael2 said 400 days ago
i'm going
to go with Kid A as well. Man this is a good song. The rhythm is great, how'd you do that? was that in addictive drums?

bud said 400 days ago
The rhythm is mosty the result of
different synth loops from BeatHive. I also used a 2 - step thump and goa track from Jam Pack 2 remix tools. Glad you enjoyed it.

stevel said 400 days ago
Tago mago magic?
Sounds a bit like Can in places (a cross between Mushroom and Mother Sky?)

bud said 400 days ago
I love Can
thanks for the comparison.

Peter Bauckham said 400 days ago
Can....
Now there's a great band.

said 400 days ago
Got me?
Sounds like alot of bands but the constant bass is very familular. Excellent song!!!

bud said 400 days ago
Hey - you were here
and now you're gone again. What's up? Thanks for stopping by.

paul f. page said 400 days ago
I don't...
...know enough about the genre, but I've got to say that the driving rhythm is really catching...I do always wonder about songs with vocals whose words are so obscure that I can't understand them. Maybe it's my ears. Maybe it's just the vocal SOUND that's important. I'm really taken by the chug-a-chug deal... At the end of the number the vocal comes up some and reminds me a lot of John Lennon. (Am I on to anything...or just crazy?)
Peace.
Paul

bud said 399 days ago
You're crazy
but a really good crazy. The vocals are meant to be another part of the music that are puzzle parts that get revealed more and more through the song. The last line is the vocal - that's all that was ever there.

echoroom said 400 days ago
Oh hell...
...stumped on this, dont think it's Thom and his buddies... can you write the rest of the album, cause this is great in its own right!

bud said 399 days ago
Thanks Steve
I'll get right on it.

lengold said 400 days ago
My problem
is that I only really listen to Macjams music these days. Maybe we should all do lost Macjams songs - then I think I could get all the answers correct.

Really like this Bud whoever its supposed to be, great beats and production.

Cheers
Len

I'm the same as you
MJ keeps my ears filled. Thanks for the comments.

Fabulous noise
Great crunchy groove you've got going here.

KK

Moviz said 399 days ago
I've not
a clue who this is, but as the others have said it's a great tune to have on any album whether past or current. I love that rhythm sound that carries on through.... and the way you've woven it all together, great stuff, M

SmokeyVW said 399 days ago
dunno
not a clue

nice tune though

Doug Somers said 399 days ago
The clues look to line up with
Radiohead but iTunes doesn't have the band's albums :o( so I can't check it out. Love the guitar work and that rhythm really works for me. Really well put together overall - a class act!!
Cheers,
Doug

I'll venture Radio Head. But only BETTER!!!

KC And The Sunshine Band
...no no no, listen, what you may not know is that long before Harry Casey was figuring out which way he liked it, uh huh uh huh, he was extremely deep into dense, textured experimental guitar music revolving around themes of modern alienation. Yeah.

Seriously! Not many people know this but it's REALLY REALLY true! He recorded a few pieces from this period in an expressive falsetto singing voice that is quite unlike the birds-pecking-on-your-head tone that would become so familiar to the world years later shaking its booty, but then there was a tragic explosion in the studio while he was experimenting with a computer harmonica. He was OK but now had amnesia - not to mention a radically different voice.

Sadly, as a result of brain trauma Harry thought he was President Of The United States and returned to America, but became disillusioned when nobody played Hail To The Chief when he entered a room. He exiled himself to Florida, bought tropical shirts in rainbows of colours and tried to forget about the music business. All this, and he was still a kid! A new life hinted, however, when he took a job at a small Hialeah recording studio... and the rest is history.

So there you go.

I'm not even on the same planet, am I?

psexnyc said 393 days ago
Same Planet???
Rik, you are out of this world with this info!! I had no idea that these reasons are the reason why KC jams so hard. Boogie Shoes did it for me!

guitapick said 398 days ago

Blue Cheer meets Radiohead...

No idea...cool tune, though, Kevin...

MissChaos said 398 days ago
dang
if this ain't radiohead... Brilliant! Love the vocals and the metal synth sounds. Every time I take a break from music-making and macjams, I always come back feeling so intimidated to be amongst the likes of talent like you.

DWL said 398 days ago
Great groove
I have a name on the tip of my tongue but it won't let go.

Ah well nearly there ...........

Cheers

I'm thinking Mansun 'attack of the grey lantern'....or Moby?? Play??

peacepiano said 396 days ago
Vocal
Great sound from the guitars. But that vocal is haunting, can't get it out of my head! Well done!

Thanks
Bill

psexnyc said 393 days ago
I Ditto Lengold
All the new music I listen to is here at MJ. Otherwise I just listen to old skool hip hop, classic rock and old school metal. So, I don't know whose lost song this is. But I do know that this joint rocks!! You Go Bud!!

Ejh said 389 days ago
I just don't know...
...what it's s'posed to be, but I love the electric guitar sound, GB3 or not, and love the guitar motion against the slow and steady bass and the electronica beat of the drums...

It just sounds cool.
