Lyrics
he turns the corner with the caution of a man
who fears what he might see
surrender to the circumstances inevitably
pulls him to the sea
that's where he'll be
talking to the empty space beside him
as he walks along
the only answers come in crashing waves

never wanted to be like this
never wanted to feel like this
never knowing what to do

futures past collided with sufficient force
on this very course in 1961
that's when it all begun
her name was plain but the ribbon in her hair
said touch me if you dare
which was so much fun
all those years ago pondering
what the future holds
the present turned the key and now he knows

never wanted to be like this
never wanted to feel like this
never more than you and me

that's all changed
things can never be the same

the snare drum raindrops falling from the skies
seem to sympathise as the old man cries
but memories pierce through the pain
of skinny dips taken in the rain
which was so much fun
laughter breaks the surface
ripples echo to and fro
as his sadness starts to subside

never thought it'd be like this
never thought that he'd feel like this
never thought he'd laugh again since she died

Like...
...the way it builds & the intruments come in one by one. The accoustic guitar following the vocal line works really well. Love the Floydian spoken word bit - and then we're back into the Dark Side. I love your guitar playing btw. Always good to hear some tricky time changes as well -

Right - very enjoyable few minutes that.

All in all very good.
Cheers -

Many thanks for the encouragement.

I'm new to this place as you know and have been trying to establish myself. As a result I haven't listened to enough other peoples' songs. That's going to change

Cheers

Big up Sir Den.
Exceptionally fine wee tune and a pleasurable listen. I dig the double lead on the finale. Be lucky.

heartfelt
The sad theme is enhanced by the music. The style somewhat reminds me of some McCartney's story telling style, but definitely has it's own ground too. The music doesn't distract from the story. Your voice goes good with this one too.

There is so much meat here to spread about amongst a band, which no doubt would even take it to higher levels, should you wish to expand in that direction.

You sound like you have some definite ideas that you want said musically with this one, but share this baby, there is too much here to keep to yourself.

Keep'em coming!

Ah...
...the blight our advancing years can bring if you let them. Luscious tune, poignant lyrics and great guitar work.

thanks again.... I love the Floyd comparisons. In this song I was happy to nod in their direction. But I don't do this, or plan to, in every song. If it happens it is because it is what I want rather than what I think Roger would have wanted. I think. How much are the fees? Cripes...

I been listening
to a fair bit of Pink Floyd recently and this wouldn't have sounded out of place during the DSOTH era. Nice build up. Really well done.
