Description At last, after years of searching, this lost demo track has finally been found... Perhaps, if the album gets re-mastered, Warner/Rhino might include it - but for now it's posted here for your enjoyment!

Er ...
... um ...
... ...

It's nice though. :)

Peter Bauckham said 404 days ago
Thanks Rebsie
I'm afraid I don't do accents but there are a couple of clues in the lyrics...

Peter

Rebsie said 404 days ago
Ah, got the lyric clues now!
Actually, now that others have said it ... I did think of REM when I first listened (got the jangly arpeggio guitar) but didn't want to mention it in case I looked stupid. D'oh!

davisamerica said 404 days ago
now this totally wrong
al stewart...naw.....got me peter but will keep listening..anyroad is a great track

Peter Bauckham said 404 days ago
HaHaHa
I'm actually a big Al Stewart fan but...

Thanks for listening

Peter

davisamerica said 404 days ago
but then again
still stuck on al stewart...trying to figure out which one

SmokeyVW said 404 days ago
don't laugh at my guess
Hermans Hermits

in any case, a good song, thanks

Peter Bauckham said 404 days ago
Oh...
Wasn't that Peter Noone? Didn't they do a song called 'Something's Happening'? I'm sure I had the single...

Peter

stevel said 404 days ago
mmmm
I would hazard a guess at REM? Not sure what album though....Reckoning?
Nice jangle!
Steve

Peter Bauckham said 404 days ago
Hey Steve
the clue could be in the lyrics...

Peter

bud said 404 days ago
I'll definitely be back to refine my comment
This is a great track. I'm gonna take a stab at Fleetwood Mac - this is a song about Stevie Nicks. Not sure which album though.

Vic Holman said 404 days ago
Great song
I'm thinking REM's Document or Out of Time. Mostly from the jangle guitars and chord progression.

Real nice song Peter

Feter said 404 days ago
Today
Man its so cool and lovely .sure no suddenly
the memory all shut down ,but I bet I know this
band so much .welldone y friend .its wonderfull !

echoroom said 404 days ago
Well...
... great track, Pete! Out of Time???

bud said 404 days ago
I get the Out of Time reference now
and the REM jangle and keyboard - but I'm still not sure. Did enjoy another listen though.

said 404 days ago
Wow...
If this is not from REM's "Out Of Time" it damn well should be!

Good job Peter! I dig that jangly guitar, the burbly organ and, as always, your wonderful vox.

Be well friend!

Doug Somers said 404 days ago
Sweet!
Lovely work Peter! I have to concur with the growing consensus as to the band. Very well conceived and laid down.
Cheers,
Doug

Mystified said 404 days ago
Ok..ok...
I've heard three or four REM songs in my life, and I'll agree this sounds like 'em :)

(ooooh. It helps to listen to these later after others have commented ;)

This is a terrific track, Peter! Love your voice on this as well...and well...I'm a sucker for jangly guitars.
Thanks for sharing :)

Peter Bauckham said 394 days ago
Thanks
Mysti - always nice to get a thumps up from you.

Peter

Peter Bauckham said 394 days ago
well actually...
that's a thumbs-up BTW. And the p is nowhere near the b on the keyboard!

said 404 days ago
No clue...
But I like what you've got here- nice track! I've really enjoyed listening to the entries in this contest.

ageofthedeathtree said 404 days ago
have to agree with REM...
but if we're wrong, still a great tune!

Diviner said 403 days ago
Nice Track
Just to be different 'The Lightning Seeds'. But it might be REM, although I am not too solid with that idea.
Good track thats been well composed. Its a very nice track to listen to. Cool track.

(Is it Mamas and Papas on the Califonia Dreamin' album)

Peter Bauckham said 403 days ago
I'd love it
to be Mamas and Papas - but it's not. Lightning Seeds is an interesting one - I'm sure I've had that comparison made before... Thanks for listening.

Peter

michael2 said 403 days ago
hmm
robyn hitchcock? the byrds? REM? loving the jangle pop.

Peter Bauckham said 403 days ago
I do like
jangly guitar pop... Thanks for dropping by...

Peter

lengold said 403 days ago
I have no
idea who this is supposed to be - but it sounds great.
Cheers

Moviz said 403 days ago
Love this
song and the sound Peter, whoever it is, but it could be a few contenders from the 60's or 70's. Doesn't matter though, cause it's so good anyway, cheers M

DWL said 403 days ago
Blimey I'm boring
REM?

Great song Pete.

Peter Noone!
Surely! Peter Noone! Right? Right?

Okay... Peter Noone joined REM, right? That's what happened! Peter Noone joined REM and this is the only song that was ever recorded, and then the band got into a dispute about playing "Henry VIII I Am" on tour, and the team-up disintegrated, lost to history until today. I like it. I like it!

I'm so wrong.... but it makes such a wonderfully crazy story, I'll put my beer on Peter Noone.

Peter Bauckham said 402 days ago
I'm going
to have to search for some Peter Noone recordings - He did a version of Bowie's 'Oh You Pretty Things' but apart from that, and the Herman Hermits song I mentioned earler, I know very little... Sounds like an interesting collaboration!

Peter

davisamerica said 401 days ago
peter
one more stop by to tell u how great this tune is...very nice...very nice
so al stewart meets the hermits in rehab and they all get rem as sponsers

Peter Bauckham said 400 days ago
Thank you
for coming back... I don't think that's quite the sound I was going for but...

Peter

biba_nova said 400 days ago
Hi Peter...
This is great

My guesses would include the db's or Robin Hitchcock, but I can't guess specific albums

I love the chorus. I've listened four times now - Great touch on the organ. I'll be downloading this, thank you. :-)

Peter Bauckham said 398 days ago
Thanks
I'm a sucker for a catchy chorus. Thanks for listening.

Wow
Peter, This is a great song!!!! I love happy, jangly, pop songs. Remember the one-hit wonder group The La's...sounds kind of like that to me.

dajama said 395 days ago
Could have sworn
I'd already commented on this. I guess I just listened! Very nice track. Someone somewhere mentioned the La's, and it does have that kind of sound for me. Very nice jangly guitar throughout. I especially like organ/keyboard, and the lyrics. "So many think you're crazy - I tend to agree" - that's a great line. The picture you paint is real and touching. I like the backing vocals near the end - very REMish. Great track overall. Nice work. Peace.

Peter Bauckham said 395 days ago
Thanks David
Glad this sounds very REMish... The vocals (and mix) were both done in a bit of a hurry, so I'm pleased it's come out OK. The backing vocals at the end were meant to be a clue as to which album this is from. When mastering this I was flicking between the album this track is supposed to be missing from to try to get a similar sound. Thanks for dropping by.

Iron Maiden!

.. nah, just pulling your leg. Got to be REM "out of time" but that northern England delivery, does give it that Lightning Seeds effect, with a tiny hint of Billy Bragg :o) Nice song, enjoyed it. (I liked the Lightning Seeds and the odd BB song too).

Peter Bauckham said 377 days ago
Don't think
I'd know where to begin doing Iron Maiden! I wasn't going to attempt an American accent so I just tried to make the lyrics more American instead. I really enjoyed doing this LSP - although it was all a bit of a rush. Thanks for dropping by.

I don't know how to find the answer
Sorry I miss this. Roy Orbison comes to mind. Travelling Willburys, maybe.
Love this.
Dave

Peter Bauckham said 369 days ago
I do like
the idea of Roy Orbison!

Anyway, the answer to this and the other Lost Song Project songs can be found under Lost and Found. All of which are well worth checking out when you have a moment.

Thanks for dropping by.

Dee...
...I don't know what to say except a very big thank you for your very kind words. I've been struggling a recently with writing - and have been trying to get my head around using Garageband and loops and such. The house has been in a real mess with decorating (which seems endless) and I haven't really had anywhere to record but I'm get it sorted - slowly.

Thanks again

perfect slice
Perfect slice of nostalgia for that album I never bought; a time I lived but never appreciated; a road trip I took many times but can't remember the route. So well done I can't say more without drooling over it on my keyboard.
