Well... ...could be George Duke or early electronic Herbie Hancock (Watermelon Man)... ...or The Crusaders minus guitar/sax... I'm hearing the first two guesses, though... Whatever it is, it is very, very cooooool.... |

it sounds slightly familiar along the lines of bands like weather report. but it has been so long that i can't be sure. I know I'm going to slap my forward hard when you announce it. Nice piece Bill |

Just... ...groovy! I don't know much about popular groups or bands as this has not been much of my interest over the years, but I do know when I hear a number that catches my interest because of a clever beat, a mellow orchestration, and a generally cool feel to it. This song fits that bill nicely, Bill, and I am glad you posted it. It stands up just by itself, in my book. Forget the comparisons. ... My one wish is that you'd have let the song continue maybe 15 seconds longer with a gentle fade. ..Nevertheless, I really like this number. Peace. Paul |

Hi All Interesting guesses. The band in question is not a jazz group, although I can see the comparison to Jan Hammer (my original mix does sound like a lost song from him). I won't apologize for the beat, this band dabbled in a lot of beats. I will say that they probably would not have employed a shimmering flute voice :) Off to visit my mother and then to listen to more lost songs. |

we'd have to say... herbie hancock, definitely...but a lil less funky. not that's bad, great track nonetheless. great work! sons of hypnos (yep, both of us!) |

Jan Hammer? Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer come to mind. i'm not sure though... there's clearly no guitar here. nice tune - you got some pretty nice analog synth sounds going on here thanks |

a very sophisticated groove here... ...fantastic playing. Weather Report comes to mind, but (as I've said on 90% of these LSP songs) I just don't have the popular music knowledge to even make an educated guess. I do know that I like it! :) Thanks for sharing! |

You've ruled out jazz groups so Herbie H is not in the running - would have been my guess. Regardless, this is a fun tune and certainly stands solidly on its own. Thanks! Doug |

Not a clue Although it is a brilliant composition, I love the organ and floating flute. My wife who is helping me with all this says it sounds a bit like Camel or Renaissance. Very cool track. |

Emerson, Lake and Palmer my wife thinks it could be the above group. She likes this track so it must be good. |

Quite A Groove ...but I can't begin to guess who the lost artist is. Love the synth runs! Was the water sound at the end a clue? |

OK I'm going with ELP - My brother used to play their early records all the time - I think, except for the Greg Lake songs, they were mostly keyboard led instrumentals - this sounds more jazzy they I remember them though... Don't really know any of their records past Brain Salad Surgery or Works... Peter |

Ok I'm finally ready to guess that it's ELP from Tarkus, though I'm not so sure it sounds proggy enough for that. Anyway, excellent playing, this sounds great. |

Beach Side Got me. Jan Hammer? |

the band has an early album that is almost all instrumental - which means their later work has lots of vocals. Doesn't fit the profile of a fusion band that this sounds a little like. I'm gonna think on this some more before I commit. Groovy tune though - lost or not.
