Description This is vocal version of the last song that I posted. I just layered guitar tracks. And did a basic E thing.
Alan Brady (APB) wrote and sang the lyrics and melody. I did the bed of the song. So its a Brady/Anderson song.
Also it was Alans vocal mix.
Lyrics Listen!
Goin' out for a weekend shout,
Before I changed mind.
We'll make a break, for some chalk and slate,
The number of the balls benign...

We'll be shootin' pool yeah ...
Flakey conversations 'bout boring situations,
Shoot some pool, yeah? Yeah!
In itty bitty towns with their nitty gritty frowns.

Ooh
Then she walked in,
Said she knew the rules,
"Rack 'em up and call your shots
I don't suffer fools, you little .."

"Screwball" .. oh man ..
"Screwball"

I got nervous I must say,
When I found I'd lost the toss,
But when she bent over- rack on felt,
It wasn't really my loss (if you know what I mean)

Don't cover your pockets,
She said that "that 'ain't fair!"
Ok with me maam,
I'm just trying not to stare-
let's see what you got ...

Then I found I was getting my ass kicked!

"Screwball" .. oh man ..
"Screwball"

Two balls to go,
Well it's good to know,
I was drunk by this time.
But if I made the shot,
Some awesome pot.
The run of the table was mine...
But I mucked it up.

Don't cover your pockets,
She said that "that 'ain't fair!"
Ok with me maam,
I'm just trying not to stare-
let's see what you got ...

She's a shark, she's a shark
Oo da um da um da ra la la

It was way fun too. Its alway a joy to write with Alan.
He just seems to have a way with 50% of my song.
Thanks for the stop by!!!!

Rebsie said 411 days ago
Enjoyable collab by the sound of it
You sound like you're having a lot of fun rocking out here. :)

The harmonies are especially good, they really blend. And the sweeter section at the end rounds it off nicely.

musichead said 411 days ago
Thats Alans
The singing would be all Alan, Im just the guitar, bass, and drums with keys.
Good to see ya again!!! this was a fun tune.

I'm hooked!
Those are some great guitar hooks. That really drives the tune.

Nice production too. The vocals are clear but still aggressive, and that tambourine is a neat touch.

Rock on, brothers.

musichead said 410 days ago
thanks
I told Alan that the tam and bongos where cool. :P
Thanks for the listen!!

apb said 410 days ago
...
the tambourine is great, as is that switch to the ride cymbal - love that, it's the bongos I'm not convinced about :o)

I still hear a harmonica as an extra instrument at the chorus, instrumental breaks (after the "let's see what you got" lines, jiguma??

The ending is kinda quirky as is .. but I guess a fade is the way to go, on the outro vocals ..

Thanks again Steve, was my pleasure, lots of fun- something in the original post just gave me this pool/bar scene...
and thanks everyone for the kind words on my contribution.

Production
Believe it or not, Im even happier with the home production. I dont consider myself a producer. But Even I was happy with the mix. The trick is, I didnt do much.

Screwball
Cool song - lots of variety - me likey!

estellie said 405 days ago
cute
the balls "benign" -- geez -- is that a pun?

Well, I have to love a song about pool, as you know.

Guys, the sound is great. I agree the last bit is fantastic--want to say it could be reprised as the refrain throughout, but I also like it as it is, a change of pace ending, standing alone. That one accordion sound, though, leaves as abruptly as it came in.

Overall, fantastic. fun. I miss you guys!

apb said 405 days ago
Yay - wb Estella!!! :o)
you've been missed ..

hmm "benign" .. best I answer that question:

.. yes, it was .. start with a bad pun and work downwards I always say ;o)

I just wanted to give two interpretations deliberately: "is harmless" and "be nine" (of course)... so I didn't tie myself to one set of pool rules, clever huh? Nah .. "lotta balls" I hear you cry...lol.

Good to see your back - looking forward to your new collaborations. Take care.

musichead said 405 days ago
where?
Where is the hell have you been girl ?
Im trying to talk Alan into coming here(USA)
I could get him a job and we could play and write all the time.
I need him to counter-balance my songs . And I wish to do the same to his NEW
songs!!

jiguma said 405 days ago
Nice collab
Big sound, very cool playing. Would like to hear the drums up in the mix, but apart from that, sounds really good!
Neil

musichead said 405 days ago
Yes
Yes I agree the drums do need to come up in spots. But not being known for mixing, Its still a good cut. I added 2 guitars playing the samething..workout well. The first time I every tried anything like that.Im going to do it more!!
Thanks and good to see ya again !!!

Montgomery California said 402 days ago

i like that brightness from that guitar, too!

Brady Anderson...
...was a pretty good baseball player....

This is a very rockin' tune with great lyrics...real nice stuff, man...

musichead said 398 days ago
just pretty good????
Brady is a great player!!!! haha...thanks for the stop and listen!!

guitapick said 397 days ago
He had...
...one unbelievable offensive year. Always an excellent center fielder and consistent at the plate, though. So, yeah....you're right: he was a serious player. But the career year was off the charts. I had him on my fantasy baseball team that year.
I really like this tune. Great rock 'n roll.
