Description Just a dream....
Lyrics
I Want to Win Big Money
Live on a Yacht
Somewhere Very Sunny

Not Too Much to Ask
Can it Not Come True

I Don't Wanna Work Anymore
More Than Enough
It's Just a Bore

I Know it Sounds Selfish
But if it's Wrong
We All Have That Wish

Drive Around Monte Carlo
Take a Dip in Barbado

I thought
a Beatles parody started, cos of the way you play that m-tron (and they did use the hardware version in strawberry fields). This song made me smile even more cos it has that Lennon like protest vibe oozing through, well I felt the cynicism that way. I enjoyed the panning of the drums (and the drums of course) and the organic feel. Nice organ playing and I just dig that lethargic voice. Who is on second voice? Jop, again I seem to enjoy my late hours more with these laid back tunes.
Thanks for sharing, Jb

lengold said 414 days ago
You are
absolutely spot on JB. It started of as an experiment for the Lost Song competition and I was trying to write a Beatles thingy. I quickly realised that I would need a major talent transplant to even get close to what they did.
So I have to be content with something that sounds like me, unfortunately. All the voices are me - trying harmonies. I love your latest.

Something's weird tonight -
I had to download this to listen. Glad I did. This is one twisted puppy song. Very cool - lost song or not. Remember - LSP can be like interpretive dance - no rules. Man I did the guitar thing in the break. Cool.

lengold said 414 days ago
Thanks a
lot bud - very appreciated. Love your latest, wish I was jammin' with a real band, great fun.

How I emphasize with this song.Keep kiddin meself that I've made it now I dont have to join the ratrace on a monday morning being self employed. But then I remember I'm up to eyeballs in debt.'yay!'

You certainly know how to get your point across!.That guitar solo in the middle is reallly spooked - sounds like a drunk plasticine woman trying to sing bhangra.

Subliminerly catchy.(I'll look up the spelling for that word another day)

Cheers - RG

lengold said 414 days ago
I used
to have my own businesses - was also deeply in debt - but at least it was my doing and not someone else's dream. The older I get the more I genuinely detest having to go to work. But it's that or just not eat (mind you I could benefit from a spell of that).
How did you know about the drunk plasticine woman - I went out with her a few years ago. Good fun but the smell was a bit off putting.
Thanks for your always interesting/fun comments.
Cheers

detestable
I have a relative,a bass player who for as long as I can remember after school always worked in a toilet roll factory and drove a beaten up old car, playing in blues bands. One day the factory went into liquidation and he got quite a pay off.He had loads of plans like set up a music shop, put it in an isa etc so instead he moved in with a prostitute and developed a cocaine habit and burnt out a few credit cards and the last time we met he was living in a van full of sari's in the west midlands. He's well in the shit but I think he enjoyed the holiday.Thank gawd for the poles eh? (!)

lengold said 413 days ago
You really
do tell a great story and very concisely, have you ever thought of writing a book? Living in a van full of sari's - excellent. But I must admit that you have lost me with the 'poles'? Although I am quite happy to say thank gawd for 'em too!
Cheers
Len

paddler said 413 days ago
poles
well without intending to generalise the few hundred polish people ive met here in the lake district in the last 5 years are the only people who will just walk into a shop and ask for work, and their reputation is such that they are most likely to be taken on,while many (certainly not all) of us brits moan and grumble about having to do boring work.I am guilty in the first degree there - I'd rather go busking than spend a day hoovering floors - and do.But - I'll shut up now in case I'm getting too topical.

The main thing is - great song!

happy that my songs amuse you. Although the sentiments are heartfelt it is also with my tongue firmly in my cheek.
I used the same guitar effect on the end of this song

interesting time signature
this one moves along at its own distinctive pace, and i like it. solo break was my fave, and i wished it would have gone on longer.
i am a fan of ecclectic tunes, and this one is alot of fun to listen to!

lengold said 413 days ago
I really
appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment Allen. Yes, I think the solo should have gone on longer too, in hindsight. maybe the next song - who knows?
Thanks again.

Ooh me head
I swear your songs get weirder each time ... you've put together an imaginative combination of instruments and rhythmic oddities to make something really unique.

I like the way you sing about the money with such enthusiasm. ;)
Great style.

lengold said 413 days ago
Thanks for
the comment Rebsie. I was very poor for a few years, then sort of did quite well for a few and now just average. I know which I preferred.

I can see the way the Beatles influence came in. This is probably one of your best tracks that you have submitted. I thoroughly enjoyed this track, the music was brilliant and it suited your voice and of course the lyrics are very good and always raise a smile. Very Cool track Len. In fact I will stick my neck out and say it is your best track.

lengold said 413 days ago
I am
really pleased that you enjoyed this Keith. Obviously struck a chord with you, thanks for the very positive comments. Are you secretly yearning for a lottery win too - I know how hard you work....

like the beatlesque keyboards. trippy and dreamy. nice chord progression. the descending bass notes add to the old beatlish sound as well. cool

lengold said 412 days ago
Thanks a lot
Vic for your continued support. Glad you enjoyed it, it was fun trying to sound like The Beatles, but as I said above, too difficult for me to do properly (especially, the vocals).

Melting
Quirky, yah that's the word. This is weird but grows on me as I listen. A lot of it reminds me of Adrian Belew, say, from Twang Bar King. It also has a bit of a 'chanting while I fall asleep' sound, with that Cowboy Junkies languid vibe. I like it.

Really appreciate
you taking the time to comment - thanks.

Ominous and humorous. The vocals are overbearing, in a musical sort of way.

The weird keyboard parts, with their various panning and filter effects, are very cool.

You tend to make these ear catchers with your unique sounds.

Reminded a bit of strawberry fields with some of those sounds.

This was fun to listen too. Hey, if you win big, I mean really big.
All the Macjammers will suddenly even become friendlier. I'll be in that line.

Might be after Monte Carlo and Barbados though!

You really do have such a marvelous imagination. I don't think there's a single one of your songs I've ever heard that I've come out the other side thinking, "Well, that was predictable." Usually, I'm scratching my head wondering how you kept it so original yet familiar and easy to listen to and enjoy.

How do you do it, Len? Tell us!

I just love the way this swings.

.. this is very cool ..

.. you can hear the touch of Strawberry Fields in the keys ..the melody of the "not so much to ask" bobbing up and down also has a Beatles air to it..trippy and psychedelic overall, ambitious to try a missing Sgt.Pepper song ..

The lead guitar is awesome if a little short. I liked though how this still retained very much "Len" in more ways than just the vocals. (I think some deep cellos or brass might doing some runs might just have pulled it
to The Beatlens rather than the Lenles if you wanted
to drive it more that way and perhaps some more higher oo ahh harmonies)

.. but I really enjoyed this result. Lyrics deliver a simple message: easy to empathise with and relate to, thus pleasing to the masses. I thought a 'shatter the illusion' verse at the end, back to a bleaker reality wouldn't have been out of place... and I'd have switched "I" to "She" and "he" in different verses..
perhaps ending with "we". :o)

lengold said 409 days ago
Great to
see you back Alan and to have your critique.
My problem was that the backing was basically jammed, which meant that I had to then try to fit the vocals around it. Also meant that I only had a little hole for the guitar. It would, of course, have been better to properly construct the song but that would have meant trying to remember what I had played then re-play and I am much too impatient for that. I get an idea then just do it.
Your ideas are great and well thought out. Maybe next time I should send it to you first and then re-work based on your suggestions.
One day I will try to write a song properly, with verses and choruses and take my time but I am scared that I wouldn't be able to see the wood for the trees.
Thanks again for taking the time to listen and your comments.
Cheers
Len

very interesting
i missed this when you posted it last week. gotta say, this is pretty friggin genius. i wish i had written this song. all of the sounds are perfect for the vibe, and they really support the song. i'm getting more David Bowie Scary Monsters than the Beatles, but I think that could be the vocals. Really nice though.

lengold said 409 days ago

Hum...
You're a genius! Excellence on all levels that I can hear! You've become one of those artist that I get excited to know, that you've got something new to share!

This tune is so cool, Len! I'm really impressed w/ your musicianship and mostly, your ability to compose a piece that demands that one should really attempt to TRY and know, how the hell did ya come to be able to even imagine, "how did he ever think to, do that"...

It's so cool that you've chosen to reside here at MJS. Makes a person feel, kinda special.

Thanks! Dion

Can you spare a dime?

Honest, funny, wacky and pathetically unpredictable. What more would I expect from a Lengold classic? There are some truly WEIRD sounds in this. I particularly like the the hand tin can guitar case tapping percussion bits, that, and the really sicko guitar leads.
