Mood Much more melancholy than the others. Your tones almost sing some sort of sad song. Thanks Bill |

So.. 'lost' and sad sounding, but beautiful all the same and invoking all kinds of mental images, cheers M |

A lone... ...alone... The sound is so desolate...and draws the listener in so completely. This is just beautiful, KJ. You are playing with such understanding of the genre and the instrument and it's impossible to not pay attention to the plaintive call of this (pvc) instrument. I like the little bit of echo you have added on this one. Seems more than the others in your series. Maybe you should revisit those in the same way...One small thing I notice sounds like "white noise" very quietly when the flute is not sounding...I am not sure if I am hearing correctly. ... Anyway, small point. The big point is that this is precisely perfect right down to your last LONG breath. I'll be the first to chalk up a 10 all around. Brava! Peace. Paul |

It's just no use anymore... ...PVC flute pieces are simply ruling the MacJams Rating Picks... I really did try to leave some sort of deep comment yesterday, (in fact, I thought I did), but couldn't get the comment button to work for the life of me... It was probably something about simplicity and beauty... Danged if I can remember it, though... Simplicity, beauty, and, once again, taking the time to let notes find their own space, their own time to sound... You know, of course, that Apple will be searching you out, to sample you for their next World collection of Apple loops... Ed |

You're really good at playing the flute and in one take? You capture the Autumn feel of the peace and stillness of the early morning chill. |

moving what a soothing and uplifting sound. this reminds me of flute music of the aztecs in mexico. i grew up around sounds similar to this, so it also gave me a sense of longing for home. you did a beautiful job with this and i love it's simplicity. |

effects I use very little effects even with my wall of guitars. I find that less is more . In any genre of music. But wow, very relaxing and refective. I faved this so I can sit and stare out my window and look into the woods. Thanks for the music!!! |

plaintive, longing, solitude The sound of a lone flute, played this way, creates a visceral feeling of longing. Listening to this, I actually got a weird primitive flash of insight into why wolves sing their howling songs at night (which then brought me to that stark winter night scene with the wolves in the movie "Dr. Zhivago".) Anyway, really gorgeous playing. The reverb bothers me slightly, but knowing how to fix it is beyond my knowledge... but I'll explain what I can. The return "echo" is long enough, but seems too loud, that is, it is so close to the loudness of the original sound, that it is hard to tell when you stop playing and the reverb kicks in. This diminishes the ending of the note played, because it gets enveloped in the reverb... making it sound like one long note. And one of the joys of this flute is the little dip in pitch at the very end of many of the notes... this often gets swallowed up by reverb in this recording. I would like the reverb "tail" to remain just as long, but the reverb itself should be at a slightly lower volume. You can get this effect by using the AUMatrixReverb (and a bunch of fiddling.) I think it would enhance the recording a great deal. But the performance... uh, it's perfect. What a heart-wrenching call of the wild... with such a pleading request, how can the Spring NOT return? I hope you got your color back after that last note, I'm still catching my breath! And we dragons have big lungs... :-) ttfn, Drakonis |

Hey Kristy Real nice. For me, it brings a memory of frost. We've had very little this fall. This is nicely contempletive...peaceful. Thanks, Doug |

Contemplation... The playing was simple and unadorned which I like in general and thought particularly effective with this piece which encourages contemplation. Thanks for such beautiful and soothing music. Best, Charlie |

your flute Kristy, your flute is haunting and beautiful. The melody appears to be pentatonic (but it almost has to be, for an instrument like this to really speak), which is very appealing. I'm hearing reverb and pan. I know you said you added reverb, but it appears the pan may be natural. What kind of a room did you record this in? Most of the pan appears to happen when you play a long high note. Makes me think of walking in the snow at night, through a familiar meadow, missing someone you used to walk with. |
