Description so i originally posted this as an open collab, and a whole bunch of people posted versions of it, which inspired me to go ahead and write a melody for it (that and my decision to finish every song I start, no matter what).

I've had Bronchitis for the last week or so, and it has moved into my right ear (all plugged up), so I hope this sounds okay.

biba_nova said 448 days ago
This is great Michael
Very nice to hear all of the possibilities being offered up by your original track

Love your singing here and the melody - not sure about that tight reverb you have used tho.

Hope you are getting over the chest infection

CROAKTHROAT (aka particledots)

michael2 said 448 days ago
you know what
I was thinking the same thing about that reverb. makes it seem a little bright for hte rest of the track, and it's kind of hovering over everything else. any recommendations for vocal effects that aren't obvious (for a basic vocal track)?

biba_nova said 448 days ago
A good all rounder
is logic's platinum verb. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve and what gear you are using to achieve it with.

I am not sure what the equivalent of platinum verb is in GB, but as both logic and GB share the same audio engine, its definately there in some form.

One thing I have noticed with GB which I have never liked and now am trying to avoid it like the plague in the new Logic pro is the way it sets up those presets across the channels. I think its ok to use that kind of thing in some circumstances but I think one has to be really careful about blindly applying the presets every time you do something.

As you can appreciate, it is difficult to find a common language to describe the colour and texture of sound in general and the same applies in describing reverbs...

My main advice would be to try and let the reverb breathe (a slightly longer tail/room size) and try to avoid too much tonal colouration in the eq of the reverb (which sometimes happens in these GB presets)

I am sure the presets in GB must be tweakable?

michael2 said 448 days ago
actually
i used a different plug in and it doesn't come with any presets (although you are right on that point). It's the same one I used on the backup vocals, but I should have played with it more before committing. Thanks for the tip about avoiding the EQ on the reverb, I did mess with that a bit.

biba_nova said 448 days ago
which one
did you use? (reverb plug in that is)

gail60 said 448 days ago
great song
You did a great job here. I love your voice. Lots of tender emotion that is oh so sultry yet very soothing. Downloaded and faved. Thanks for sharing another hit!

michael2 said 447 days ago
wow
never been called sultry b4, but i'll take it. thanks very much, i'm not a technically great singer, so I'm glad when people get what i try to do.

Congrats on finishing this fine tune
it really deserved your attention and the vocals you laid down are great. Dig the lyrics too. Glad to hear you're feeling better. Sorry I missed you when I was in town.

michael2 said 447 days ago
thanks Bud
i was kind of over it, but had to give it a try. thanks for listening.

A late-night treat that just gels and lets me feel peaceful... thanks :)

michael2 said 447 days ago
oh, I'm
so glad that you like. i may re-do the vocal mix, but so glad you like the actual song. thanks for stopping by.

your voice reminds me of roger waters/pink floyd here.

Great vocals

michael2 said 447 days ago
i'll take
that as a compliment, thanks for stopping by.

Feck!
I cant get this to play, and i soo wnna hear this... godammit!

michael2 said 447 days ago
???
what the hell? that's really weird. I can't wait to hear your version one of these days (just messing around - no pressure).

said 447 days ago
So in love
with your voice. Although the track itself is kind of slow and not all that emotional. The addition of your voice (GOOD clean recording) is friggin sweet like honey. Damn I love that voice. I heard the collab you did with micheal and vic, and the 2nd voice (yours, duh!) really triggered me. In the latter track, I do think your voice isn't mixed that well (too soft). But boy! I digged the end thingie as well (and i mean at the very end, funny wahwah fx?)

love, Jb

Ps; I am gonna bother you for a collab, one day...one day. But rather on my terms (read: skills)..please!

Alannah said 447 days ago
BRONCHITIS !!!!
... hey that was MY line ... heh heh .... you did a fine job on the vocals (bronchitis and all) ... maybe this comes from writing an "infectious" tune that many people wanted to "jump on" ... did you have a hard time after hearing everyone else's version - trying to get "their" melodies out of your head while singing your own version? Probably it was the other way around .. hard hearing YOUR song being sung "all wrong" ??? hahahaha

michael2 said 447 days ago
actually
i wrote the melody a couple of weeks ago; and Mystified had sent me a copy of her version, but I didn't want to listen to it until I wrote the melody for this one. i did a scratch vocal I hated, and then got sick and never got around to re-recording it. so i just left it, and cleaned them up as best I could.

thanks for listening (and joining in).

said 447 days ago
Hey bro...
You know I love this tune and you know I love your singing. Need I say more? Nicely done my friend!

Be well!

Perfect
On a saturday where you need to do nothing. It fits in so well with a warm feelin sad yet never letting go. This has got me mumbling I think this will stick in my head for the rest of the day. Greatness!

thanks so much, glad to hear you're stuck with this one.

Full circle
My life is complete now and so is this song.

I was hoping that you would come back to this song and finish it with your lyrics and vocals.

This has got to be one of my most favorite songs.......ever!

michael2 said 446 days ago
yup
i'm done with it now. had to get it out of my system.

Macaudion said 446 days ago
Right on Micheal - Nice one
Man I love listening to your voice - you express every word w/ an inflection that truly resonates w/ me.

The arrangement is right on w/ the g'tar and all. Nice performance, sir.

Great writing, too!

Certainly, I took one for the road - Thanks! Macca

michael2 said 446 days ago
thanks
that's very kind; i am always ambivalent about my voice. glad you came by for a listen.

peacepiano said 446 days ago
Great
Slow and low. Very cool vocals here. Nice echo in the background.

Thanks
Bill

michael2 said 446 days ago
peacepiano
thanks much. glad you like; funny thing about this song: i wanted the drums to be repetitive, and now with vocals on it, not so into them. oh well. thanks for listening.

Mystified said 446 days ago
Ahhhhhhh......yes :)
I love the colors you've painted with your voice on this canvas.
More sparse (than my version w/ Bryn) and it works so very well. Moody and melancholy--and the vocals are lovely--bronchitis and all!

I'm so glad you invited the rest of us to join in offering our own interpretation of the instrumental track. Each resulting song is so different. Very cool :)

Thanks, again! :)

Moviz said 446 days ago

sounds great to me on this and I love the gentleness of the song. Nice easy listening, cheers M

Not sure why...
...but lately I'm hearing a lot of music that nails exactly where I'm at, now.

This is no exception...I could live here for awhile...like the weaving lead guitar in there. Nice touch.

michael2 said 444 days ago
thanks
guitapick, glad you enjoy. my right ear has been plugged up for the last week or so, and I'm not sure that I even know what this really sounds like. glad that it sounds good to you.

thanks very much, glad you like. i personally still have some reservations about it, but since I can't really put my finger on anything concrete, it will stay as is at least for awhile. thanks so much for stopping by.

It's a treat
to hear this variation. This melody rolls around the listening space like a warm scented oil. Wonderful performance, and great treatment of the vocal effects and overall instrumentation. A real pleasure to hear!

Thanks for sharing.
Keep well,

First listen
To your music, but i have to say I'm impressed, This can put you to sleep I mean that in a good way. Very mellow and light, It's like lite beer when you don't want to get drunk or gain weight, but you still want to get a lil buzz,, If i was a musical expert i would say the vocal reverb is too tight but I'm not yet so it was a pleasure.

Thx.

michael2 said 435 days ago
you are
absolutely right about that reverb on the lead vocals. one of these days I will get around to changing it.thanks for stopping by.

Axgrinder said 435 days ago
Where have I been?
I like this Mike! A nice smooth kickback and contemplate the day kind of tune. Like, where am I going , wheres my part in all of this? Man can I ever relate! Solid production and "very nicely" done my friend! (The slide fits perfect) unlike Feter, I'm on the bottom of it.

Hey
this has a great overall sound to it.
The guitar chords ring sweet with the piano' strings.
I dig the electric guitar leads.
Vocals here are what I learned to love working with revers fork.
nice Mike
