Keywords i thought it was scarey when Reagan was in office (1)Bud (7)spoken word (54)vinyl (3)
Description This was originally a track that Bud did called Tracker Drumz, and I decided to mess with it . I added some bass, synth, sound effects and was going to sing over it, but I saw our president on TV this morning trying to single handedly start up another cold war, and decided to add some snippets from an old record called "If The Bomb Falls (Narrated by David Wiley)" I think it came out in the '50s. (i just played over the mp3, so the sound is rough - it adds to the sense of doom though)

heres Bud's original:

What Now?
scarey !! ..

michael2 said 449 days ago
yup
i suppose if anything like that actually happened, it would be over so quick I wouldn't even notice dying. Thanks for listening.

biba_nova said 449 days ago
Very cool
Love the mournful trumpet sound

For some reason (and I don't know why exactly) this reminds me of the Specials circa 1980/81

michael2 said 449 days ago
it
is probably the trumpet that put you in mind of the Specials; but god I loved them. Thanks for stopping by.

Perfect!
You know, I usually HATE when people drop recorded vocals into a song, but this is perfect. You resisted the tendency to repeat it over and over again in an attempt to make it easy. Now that I've said that, the bass line is heavy punching and is mainly responsible for that intense mood. Your synths are great too. It certainly conveys a frightening and not so futuristic possibility. Yipes! The horns are Miles Davis scarey!!! David Wiley get's my vote for writing the next White House address. The vinyl, the buzzing, electro whizzing sounds all work perfectly. Great job to both of you.

michael2 said 449 days ago
thanks
yeah, I try and resist the urge to just drop in vocals, but this one seemed to fit the mood of the song. thanks for listening.

Crackle
The record crackle at the end is strangely frightening. You really let Bud's drums stand out, your bass and the voice fit nicely. Cool Track.

Thanks
Bill

michael2 said 449 days ago
thanks
glad you stopped by, I really liked what you did with Buds soundbed too. this was fun, a beat I would definitely not make if left to my own devices.

Everything
so fits together in this. I really like this style with the commentary and those very effective sounds. Very well done, M

michael2 said 449 days ago
hey
glad to see you back around. everything cool on the home front? that was a spooky story, glad you're okay.

thanks for stopping by.

paddler said 449 days ago
shudder
that very last statement is the one that chills me - I'm lucky If I manage to prepare any sandwhiches for work.Love all the sounds and effects.I'm a bit of a stickler for old clay animation but it would work well with this.Reminds me of an old hip-hop track called malcolm-x I used to like - only cos of the spoken word commentary.Drum sounds and frequency tones excellent.

Cheers - RG

michael2 said 449 days ago
that's funny
i'm the same way. at work i'm completely anal, at home: a wreck. thanks for listening.

Funny
Back in grade school we had drills. down to the basement, duck and cover and kiss your ass goodbye. oh and the air raid siren at noon. If everyone wasn't so paranoid life could be pretty good.

Totally whack and cool Michael, excellent treatments

michael2 said 449 days ago
i didn't
have those when i was young, but I do remember the fallout shelter signs in my school (the cafeteria to be exact). i just listened to this with headphones for the first time, sounds better that way. thanks for stopping by.

"It will take the desire to survive"
That's a pretty chilly statement right there. This is amazing Michael - really great. Everything you did fits so well with the bed it's like it was all done by the same person - fully integrated - from the very first fizzy lines through the Miles trumpet and the synth bass. Excellent use of pre recorded track - I think it was just right.
Between this and Bill's version I feel like one lucky guy - thanks for giving this a whirl.
