Description A little song about how some things gets in the way... the things called money:)
Lyrics WORK & MONEY
Thor Oliversen©2007

I got home
from a hard days work.
I’ve been, I’ve been moving pages
just like I always do.

The phone rings.
I toss it on the floor.
Pick it up, and find it’s just my boss
craving me for more.

I listen to his crap,
all I want - is tell him back.
I don’t need that shitty job,
no not no more.

I have never money
Left for fun!

And now,
now the taxman comes around to collect

Well here you are, this is the way it went.
I couldn’t find the guts to tell him what I felt.
So I just go on, and on, and on, and on, and I go on.

Couldn’t find a helping aid
to put me on the path that leads to into something else.
So I’m digging deeper, deeper into my own faith.

Work, work is what we do.
And money is what we get.
I get an empty pocket, with no fee.
I have a hungry woman, so I just cant let it be.

I have never money
Left for fun!

So far...
Glad to see you enjoyed this song. Hopefully I will strive to do even better next time:)

I enjoy your rhythm tracks....
...an awful lot, thoddi... the bass and guitar, drum and keyboard lines always work together in service of a groove, often a subtle groove but a funky and infectious one...

On this one, that distorted guitar figure is really neat... My ears perk up every time it returns...

I also enjoy the feeling that I get when you take a bit of lead or fill that you give yourself a little time to think and to feel the song...

Ed

distorted...
I'm glad to hear you mentioning that guitar. I spent some time tweaking the knobs to get the sound I wanted. Not that easy to get a good recording straight from the amp. But I kind of like this one:)

Thank you for listening and leaving a comment Ed. I'm always thrilled to see your name in here:)

Like It
Sounds like a real job. My students are convinced that they will make a lot of money without working very hard or doing anything they don't like or find boring....

I really like what you do with the drums and rhythm guitar here. Very good stuff.

Thanks
Bill

This is
right up my street - great funky playing - spot on lyrics (that I definitely relate to) and excellent vocals/production. Immediate download. Thanks.
Cheers

Karmatoburn said 452 days ago

Vic Holman said 452 days ago
It's a catch 22 thing
I prefer the money part but .... well work has to go with it. darn.

Totally great groove on this number. You really get a great start tone out of the tele. has a nice stevie ray vaughn tone to it.

excellent piece Thor

SecaMode said 452 days ago
harmonica?
everything sounds nice on this one. is that harmonica i hear? great job!

Alright!
Yeah this is great stuff. You truly have the funk in you bro. "Everyman" lyrics that I'm sure a good many of us can identify with. Love your vocal harmonies...and that riffy sound you get outta those guitars! Really solid effort!

Be well!

this one sounds personal
a bit a of reality my man.
a far cry from turn hate to love
I really dig the tax man bridge
another very happening tune
thanks for getting back into the posting thing
man your tunes are defiantly worth the wait.
peace
out

thoddi said 446 days ago
maybe not so personal nowadays...
I wrote this tune years ago. Have altered the lyrics some. I think I might have felt this way at a point in my life...

I have a recording with one of my earlier bands here: http://www.macjams.com/song/25091

Always a pleasure having a visit from you Timothy:)
Glad you enjoyed the bridge. I made it to add a bit of spice to a otherwise very predictable song:) Thank you!

hehehe
u funky dog u.....very crafty song writing......the money blues....the shackles.......nicely told and universal......right on!......

p.s.: still waiting on some parts on that collab....will call when they come in.....or rearrange stuff and see how it comes out......peace!

Each individual instrument
has such a great sound on it's own as I focus on each one but when you sit back and take them all in together they just blend so well together. This is soulful alright.

guitapick said 451 days ago
Money...
...aaah...who needs that shit, anyway?

This is one rockin'/funky tune. LOVE your Tele playin'...

jiguma said 451 days ago

A seasoned pro
your a pro... your stuff has a thumbprint that is so Thor... I'm a fan, and I would recognize you in this if I heard it anywhere... let me say, that to date this is my fav Thodi vocal.... the sprinkled harmonica is right on the money.... you produce yourself so well...you don't loose sight of the tune, it never gets self indulgent... i admire that kind of restraint, it makes for such professional results...

Drums? what are they... percect!

time to put you up on the big board

thoddi said 446 days ago
I have a thumbprint?
I think that is the first time I heard that.. Thank you Scott:)

This is really nice reading... coming from one of the guys I have as my top fav' here at MJ's, I'm thrilled about this comment.

In all modesty, I guess we may have a little something in common though... after putting my tunes out here, I usually find things I'd like to change, or think I should have taken more time to fix... think I have seen that in your words somewhere too... My reason might be that I tend to play them 'till I'm sick of 'em;)

This is a very encouraging comment, and I'm glad to see you dropped by. Thank you very much:)

The drums... they are midi, straight out of GB, added some reverb and did a little tweaking in the EQ department. I use a premade loop, and add/subtract along the way.

Funky Mon(k)ey Business
Sort of a bluesy, funky extrapolation on *Money* and George Harrison's *Taxman*.

As my dear old Dad used to say...

*No money... no fun-ny* ;)

Nice work here, Thor. Great groove and musicianship.

--- Joe

Got somethin to say...
Well groove on, mister! Nice writing/performing and all...

Thanks, Thor! Macca

The groove man... Glad you stopped by Mr. Macca. It's always a treat to have a visit from you:)

Thank you!

the thoddi feeling
I've been listening to your songs for many months now, and I always had this little spark of a memory. A sound I experienced before, but could not place. With this song it became all clear... but probably it won't tell you anything. About 15 years ago we had a brilliant blues band in Belgium called Blue Blot. Your voice is so damned close to it, as is your style in general. Be sure to take this as a compliment. But Thoddi stays Thoddi, and hell yes, I like your music. A lot.

-Walt

thoddi said 446 days ago
Compliment taken:)
I found the blue blot on iTunes (if it is the same one...?) and they sound good. Thanks for leading me to them.

Very inspiring comment Walter. Thank you:)
