Description Its the first thing Ive tried to put a` beat to for ages.It has to be inspired by the great pieces recorded by Jackie Mittoo - er keyboard king of studio one I think he was known as.

paddler said 457 days ago
B3
Thanks Bubowski! - whats a B3? I'll put more distortion on it when I find out - bass? Enjoy your late work if you can - I know my motivation is pretty up n down when it comes to work

Bubowski said 454 days ago
The B3 Explained...
B3...as in Hammond B3. That funky organ sound, man. I thought that was what the title was referring to.

B3
actually I just noticed the B3 Organ is coming up in the google ads above the song

Cori Ander said 457 days ago
The piano!
You should have a live orchestra for Christmas!
I wish you one.

The piano work here is so much better than the backing. Especially the rock'n rolly parts, like the one in the middle. Those are just great. If I would ever have a piano player in my band you'd be the first one I'd ask.

paddler said 456 days ago
Cori
I'm sorry to say an orchestra wouldn't fit in my room - maybe a triangle player or - the triangle at least minus the player. If you had a band I could join I'd join it!

Cori Ander said 445 days ago
..
It doesn't have to fit in your room, if fits in the city concert hall thats perfect.

I think I could fit in for triangle by the way. Just drop me a line.

Woah ...
... nearly blew my head off with that beat! Powerful stuff.

And what brilliant piano playing! Blues is not normally my thing but you elevate it into something else anyway.

You sound like you had a real blast playing this.

paddler said 456 days ago

A very nice place to go on a wild and blustery moonlit night.

thanks
i dunno what a B3 is but I'm guessing it was the most popular type of hammond with the leslie speakers if so my mate was setting up a studio once and i just happened to know a hippy bloke who had a broken one in his garage so we bought it and carried it down a basement - the weight was something else! and this guy managed to fix it all up by trawling throught the manual which was just full of crazy line diagrams of circuits or mechanics or something - its still there to this day - a beautiful instrument.Cheers michael

Boogie On Down
This takes me back to some of the great instrumentals we used to expect from Ramsey Lewis, and perhaps Booker T & The MGs.

The distorted bass wears on my ears after a short while, but I guess gives it a more modern sound.

It's a great rockin' boogie number with lots of great keyboard work. Nice chops. ;)

paddler said 456 days ago
Hoorah
thanks J.A yeah I'd love to get someone to do some bass and some guitar so if there are any offers I'd be well interested - the bass at the start is a nice contrast I think but I've never really been happy with synthed bass unless its in a dancey sound sculpture type thing.Appreciate your time and commenting - rg

pablatone said 455 days ago
possible bass
talk to cthayes for some bass, he's done an excellent job on a couple of my tunes.
This is another good one paddler, I was thinkin maybe bring the kick and snare up a bit in the mix, but other than that it's pretty good.

guitapick said 456 days ago
Great groove...
...love the way you work the piano in...

Really fine groove...love the B3 (which is the organ...Hammond B3 organ's a mainstay sound, in these parts...unlike a B4, which came be4 it...hahaha)

Diviner said 454 days ago
Great track
Love the layers of hammond and good piano playing. Brilliant funky dance track. A definate butt mover. Can't stop dancing. Love all the electronic sounds as well. Well creative.

..ha haa! thats one of the funniest things I've read - did you just make that up? It should be a slogan for someone or some company out there somwhere.Great hat by the way, thanks rschletty

Ejh said 452 days ago
I'm putting this one on the desktop...
So I can jam along from time to time to shake it on out when I'm taking life too seriously...

Reminds me of Traffic tunes like 'Glad', with the B3 and piano combined on one track with a throbby bass line... Booker T., too, I suppose, but I think more the English end of things...

It's nice hearing the percussion/drum break...

layered beats
Hey, I love the layering of the high-fi and low-fi beats on top of each other. Very cools. The piano is tops as per usual.
