Gentle & humbling strength Such pain in your joy. Such care in your recording. Such depth of soul shining through your talent. Thanks for reposting. Each of your songs is like a caress, a simple conversation after a struggle won, humbled in the knowledge that nothing is certain, that the future awaits with new struggles. Your music is strength. |

what Tobin said Man, I wish I could articulate comments like that. Or better yet write songs like this. This one's got a bit of JT flavoring. Very immediate intimacy in listening. A gentle warm glow to the ears. |

more than a glimps You show us much more than a glimps of your great skills as a musician here Scott. Oh, what a beautiful treat you have given us to enjoy Scott. The words are gripping. We are probably more open to the spiritual world as children. Not having those barriers that we build during time. Your music is stunningly beautiful. The harmonies you present are pure beautiful. Your guitar playing and the way this song floats with its subtle changes along the way. Just pure beauty my friend:) |

Pristine... defines all the various elements of this song. You have such a wonderful personal style --- and talent --- that is captured in this performance. An excellent production, as well. If I had a record label... you'd be on it. ;) --- Joe |

I've heard this before but this is truly one of the best guitar-voices I've heard on the net for this style. So James Taylorish but so much YOUR style! The thing I can only say is that this tune should be either made famous by either James Taylor or you! This is superb voice-folk at it's best! Dam@#$ this GOOD !!!!!!!!! Way to go Scott! If any higher ups in radio-land are reading. Get this on the air because it deserves to be there. On the TOP of the charts! And if it doesn't get there, it is another example of how GREAT musicians like you scott are NOT receiving there JUST due to be heard by millions and millions! This is that type of tune!!!! |

I was going to write... ..exactly the same as thetiler - so I won't repeat, other than to say I will never really understand why you're not a million selling recording artiste. Great voice, great harmonies (especially the bit in the middle) Love it, Thanks, Phil |

This sounds as good as anything I've ever heard on MJ.. and the noodling is delicious.....simply a great, masterful heart rending song. 10's....i can not see any faults here at all. I don't know if you can make a better sounding recording in a home studio...just in awe. |

I've said it before and I say it again This is a wonderful work of the soul Scott. I know your song touched mine. Beautiful lyrics that take me back to a time long ago, and drag me along with you an you voyage to purity. Magnificent vocals and the music fits perfectly in every respect. . I think this sounds just a little different than the other mix I heard on iComp, but I'm not to sure about that. It's hard to say for sure without being able to play them side by side and listen line for line. It really doesn't matter though because it's such a beautiful piece of work. Thank you for sharing this mix with us Scott Ed |

What they said... I agree with almost all of these comments. Just to be a bit critical, I should point out that the lead vocal has some pitch problems here and there, which sort of takes it out of the "Air Supply" level of vocal perfection that could make this type of song overly treacly, but if there was room for improvement, I'd say it's probably in that area. But I hope you understand that though the imperfection of the lead vocal is a negative, it's also a positive. It's treading a line, but that's probably a good thing. |

Dude. Can I have your genes? Or, I dunno, your voice? I mean, or, your outlook? Okay, okay, okay. How about you tell me in excruciating detail about how you get that acoustic guitar sound, other than, like, the bit about practicing a lot for years and years? I can see why you like the David Wilcox 'Vista'...definitely a connection from here to there... Lovely song. Time to start that 'Scott Carmichael' playlist in the iPod... You really oughta start planning NOW to get in your car, pack a guitar, and come visit this end of New England... Ed |

Glad Scott, you make me glad. I have been in a protracted funk lately, and your music lifts my spirits. MacJams has a lot of talented artists, but none more-so than you. I love the subtlety of your lyrics, the powerful message, the warmth of personality that shines through when you sing, your guitar playing, your arranging.... what's left? Anyway, fantastic job, once again. 10's. |

I must've listened to this- when I couldn't comment before. I just wanted to let you know that this is a really fine song. The voices (all yours, I'm thinking) are gentle, yet confident. the guitar work is stellar, too. The backing instruments are placed really well, too. This is a song that really speaks to a lot of us, it seems, as I read through the comments. |

Hey Scott, I could've sworn that I left a comment before, because I love this song. Not only great musically (well, let's call that perfect) it's a great piece of poetry. Glimpses may be all we get, but you make the most of them. A beautiful piece of music. Joe |

Beautiful Sounds just wonderful. I don't know what's more appealing, your voice or your guitar playing. Your recording technique is unsurpassed here on MJ. You really know your way around a DAW. But beyond that, the music communicates strongly here, and the DAW tech stuff is very transparent -- I am not as aware of the recording technique (as clean and smooth as it is) as I am of the beautiful music being made. Your voice recalls Dan Fogelberg quite strongly. You are a real pro. What a strong track. You need to get this on the iTunes Store. I just LOVE the male chorus you've put in here, towards the end. Your singing is right on key, and I love the hint of effects on the chorus parts at the end. You also remind me of Wayne Watson. A real pleasure. A great way to start my Sunday. Got to go -- got to get my daughters and me out the door, to meet my wife and son at church. |

What a wonderful performance on all counts... everything so well calculated, from the guitar to the orchestration and the beautiful vocal harmonies. This song is so beautifully written musically and lyrically I'm surprised it hasn't been 'picked up'. Just beautiful.... and your singing is like a dream, regards M |

You have a fan. I have read Surprised by Joy several times and i must take that gentleman's word for what I am still striving for. I might have nearly had it once, too many years ago. Your music touches me. I thank you. |

But this tune hits a spot that evokes lots of feeling and I just love music for that, and i want to thank you for this wonderful lyric and musical performance.
