Keywords McCartney could have handled this much better than me (1)
Description this is something that I just threw together. originally i was envisioning a Brian May guitar solo in the middle, but after discovering that the song was completely out of my range, I gave up on my idea of a Queen tribute. I usually don't put effects on the vocals, but this time i gave in: couldn't stand the sound of my whiney voice, but like the song.

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks Feter
glad you liked this one. Kind of wanted it to sound like you heard it wafting over the breeze from someone elses house.

racerat said 476 days ago
Sounds like.....
Sean Lennon. Kinda high and whiney. But I Like it.Very McCartney ala Ram era. The whistling is ACE! I love jazz progression chord changes, and this is so groovy in a 30's-40's kinda way. Me likes.

michael2 said 476 days ago
Ram
is my very favorite McCartney record (well at least about 1/2 of it is). He's got that pure voice I can only dream of (I get high and whiney when I try to do him, and my pitch wavers). if i had a violin (and knew how to play it) I probably would have left McCartney behind and went for Django on this one. thanks for listening

buckhorn said 476 days ago
Amazed
at the stuff you just throw together. The instrumentation and the style are spot on for the genre. Good to see your creatve juices flowing just fine. My muse goes on vacation frequently. Latter.

davisamerica said 476 days ago
ram is cool michael2 is cool
loved both. patrick and spencer

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks man
i don't know about any vacationing muse, i think the difference between you and i is that you have the sense to only post fully realized pieces, where i'll throw up anything :) i'll be slumming with some of your stuff in an hour or so. thanks for stopping by.

davisamerica said 476 days ago
too
cool

Vic Holman said 476 days ago
a crazy little thing called...
this is a cool 40's swing and it has words. ha!
The archtop is perfect for this style of music. A neat example of your diversity Michael!

of you vic. thanks for stoppning by.

dolby said 476 days ago
Oh yes...
...you're good!

Obviously very Lennon/McCartney in the vocal melody, but no bad thing - you pull it off quite well. It's a jolly little ditty - I like the walking bass line and the double bass is a good choice.

Your voice does break up in places, but I wouldn't call it whiney - Dylan is whiney - this kind of suits the roll of the song.

Excellent,
Phil

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks
for the listen. glad that you enjoyed the tune, i had fun with it.

Fantastic!
This is just so rich and right on.Just thrown together,oh to be so blessed.Just wonderful.Sorry it had to end so quickly.I loved every minute of it.Great stuff!

Blessings,

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks man
glad you stopped by. i just realized that there is only 1 verse in this song, and you're right: it's REALLY short. plus i faded the end as I couldn't figure out how to chop up the drum loop to give the right hits for my bum-de-dum ending. thanks so much for listening.

lengold said 476 days ago
Really
like this Michael. Overflowing with talent and I think your voice works perfectly on it.
Cheers
Len

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks Len
i took out all of the low end on the vocals to try and make it sound more like an AM radio. now if I could only get that slapback echo sound down. thanks for listening.

Reinholt56 said 476 days ago
A wonderful ditty....
I really enjoyed this little song. It has all the right ingredients and runs along swimmingly.

Sean Lennon is evident but who's to say that's bad. It added to the whole piece in a way that another singing voice would not.

Great stuff.

Paul.

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks PAul
i thought of you when I was recording this; i had originally put up a lap steel part ala Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys over the top of this and remembered your take on slide guitar. I would like to say I left it out for you, but alas: it just sounded horrible :) Thanks for stopping by.

been practicing
my whistling for two days now. michael just wanted you to know this song has invaded my head and set up shop and i don't want a cure. it is so nice!

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks
so glad you like. the whistling was what I was going to use as a guitar solo, but then decided against. it was pretty much in tune so i left it. THanks again for stopping by, see you around.

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks Birdman
i'll take the guitar picking compliment (especially from a master liike yourself). It's so hard to get a decent recording from that guitar, since it's an archtop it just sounds really thin, although it's too quiet, I think the sound is right for this osng. Thanks so much for listening.

bud said 476 days ago
I'm plain amazed at the diversity
and virtuosity of your output - you "throw together" an incredible range of fully realized compositions. Nice jazz chording and excellent bass playing. I think your voice sounds just right for this tune - a little strain is a good thing.

michael2 said 476 days ago
thanks a lot
very nice of you to say. the beauty of being too old to be a "rockstar" is that one can explore their curiousity and play around with any genre they want. if i was young, i'd find a guitar sound that worked and milk it for all that it's worth (while looking good in my emo haircut).

Dj French Toast said 476 days ago
Dude
I really like your music alot man ! all of it ! I pushed the download button two seconds into listening cause I knew it would be awesome ...sweet song bro ! and thanx for the new music

echoroom said 476 days ago
Coool!
Great swinging little ditty... i can hear the Lennon thing, OK.

You embarrass me, man... I have a range from dark to gloomy.... you appear to cover the entire spectrum.

Great whistling, too!

Thank you!

Pffff
McCartney wasn't, and fortunately isn't, as diverse as you. Your journeys stupify me, especially what your creativity and hands produce time and again. This time, since it isn't my usual genre, i favored it just because of this. I do wish you would have put your voice a bit more upfront, or it is the production in total (missed a bit of the highs). But then again, my crappy sound set-up/ engineering usually obliges me to noise filter most highs out of the tune. Job well-done and, again as usual, convincing track within a genre not well-known to me.

have nice weekend michael!

guitapick said 475 days ago
Disagree...
Although I DO agree that Mr. McCartney could do a wonderful job with this (right up his alley)...I also think you're being hard on yourself (vocally).

I think this is extremely well done. I loved it. Very clear and refreshing. Exactly as it should be in this genre/style.

Dreamy
What a melody! I dont know how you do it, you have a way of bringing out a long lost standard sound in this, like old radio with modern vocals on top of it. Your voice is just right for this, it has that dreamy/hazy quality to it, Thanks Mike!

Moviz said 473 days ago
MMm Love this
Style and I'm old enough to remember it the first time round in the 40's LOL. Love the beat, the guitar is ... yessss you were right Django Reinhardt, and the singing is very OK for me.. Paul McCartney phooey, now that's what I call a whiney voice LOL. Funny, but whistling is in my latest too, we might be setting a trend here, cheers M

Monkaton said 473 days ago
No Whining Here
Really good melody. I like your voice just fine as well as the instruments. During your whistling solo it would have been nice to have background vocals doing a jazz band kind of thing. Something like what the Mills Brothers used to do.

I guess McCartney could sing this ok, but you did very well. He would have hammed it up too much. He would have done too many wooo-hooos.

Macaudion said 472 days ago
I like I like...
Perty damn cool, Micheal! I don't now what it's like to not be able to stand your voice, but I'd be willing to bet, that you were having a good bad day... But I do like how the effects turned you out on this one. I like it!

Very cool tunage!

Thanks for the free grab, too! Dion

I love it!
man, what a great little tune! I could see this as a 78 at a garage sale find! good job.

whistlin
this is a very ez-peasy song to like. i was into it after just the first couple of bars. also, i'm a sucker for whistle solos, and this song has one of the one of the best i've heard in recent memory.

cheerz,

Great
results on this bouncing fun ride. Love the vocals, the catchy tune, and the overall mix. And whistling to boot! Thanks,
Doug

I can hear...
...the Queen tribute even without the Brian May guitar solo you mention. Playful and fun--I love the effect on the vocal! Wish it had more of an ending than just a fade-out, but other than that, real enjoyable!
