Description Obvious I think except to say that Lublu means love (verb) and Lubov means love (noun) in Russian.
Lyrics
My Girl it's Your birthday
Lu Lublu Lu Lublu Lubov
We'll Dance The Night Away
No Worries Come What May
And All I Want to Say

Lu Lu Lubov
Oh What A Wonderful Day
Lu Lu Lubov
Oh What A Wonderful Day

Paint Me a Picture Can You
Forest, Lake and Sunset
Sea Shore and Sky of Blue
We'll Take a Trip too
And Visit all The Places
And Watch the Bird that Flew Down

Lu Lu Lubov
Oh What A Wonderful Day
Lu Lu Lubov
Oh What A Wonderful Day

Analog Love
Yes, an interesting distillation of the Beatles' "Love, Love Love" and ""You Say It's Your Birthday". It's a ballad and a hard rocker sent skyward in an analog Russian moon rocket. Very cool. That percussion section really rocks the party. Your baritone voice is mournful even as it attempts to celebrate. An interesting admixture.

A Lover's Punch
For such a tough guy, you're a real sweetheart.

That explosion of drums and guitar is a real sock to the jaw!

I like the piano and the birds. It's kinda like an apology for getting so rough. You know I'm kidding.

Great song Len. Glad to have you back.

nice off-genre music
I don't think this is the genre you usually reside. Oeps, snares drop in, hahahahaha. Nope! Still the Nick Cave-ish way of introducing the subject at hand. The passionate guitar licks made this an much enjoyed late night reminder of how days can also end ;-).

nice one bro!

Brilliant
I like your singing voice, its very unique. To tell you the truth its makes me laugh (in a good way) and esp with lyrics like this, it has a fun element to the song that puts a smile on my face. The music is very trippy esp the guitar (did you put your voice with the guitar?) and the drums really shake you up. Lovely Lubovly track.

lengold said 477 days ago

Thanks a lot Keith, Really pleased you enjoyed it and that it put a smile on your face, can't be a bad thing. Yes I sort of made a noise over the guitar.

I was thinking
this is very Nick Cave - not just vocally but because it's such a strange (in a good way) song. The drums coming in really took me by suprise. Nice keyboards and birds! I not much up on McCartney's solo work (The Frog Chorus put me off for life), perhaps there's a touch of The White Album there too!

Thanks
Peter

lengold said 477 days ago
Strange
It's strange Peter but Nick Cave's name keeps coming up but I'd never really heard anything of his at all - listened to a couple since people on Macjams have mentioned him. Glad I surprised you - that's what I like in songs.
Thanks for the comments.

hello my friend. so i'm grooving along with this thing, all relaxed and drifty and then the break tears my head off. what a great tune. LOVE the dynamics. the mc cartney reference is not overstated. however..... i hope you take this as intended i always think david bowie.... and that kind sir is a compliment. EXCELLENT!

lengold said 477 days ago
How
are you posting your songs so fast - and each better than the last. I can't figure you out. Are you a group and if so how many and who does what. Have you just transferred from another site maybe and re-posting everything? Maybe you could send me a note to explain or maybe I'm just being too nosy and should mind my own business?
Anyway, I really appreciate your comments and obviously any mention of Bowie I take as a big compliment, thanks.

Len - you're really ploughing your own field here - your work has becomedistinctive and original in a very short time. This is a sweet song that gets car jacked and driven down a very dark alley. God, I love addictive drums.
Your singing gets better and better - excellent work.

best kind of weird
I like that moment, in the first verse, where the music breaks down. I can't explain it, but I love it.

You know when weird will work. Beautiful voice - I happen to love Nick Cave and didn't think of the comparison because his music is not like this, but now I see your voice is beautiful like his. We call it having a tear in the voice.

Anyone who can slam the skins the way you did in this makes it an easy sale for me.

And there was that whole supporting cast of percussion: beautifully done! But the bonus here is, that you have a wonderful singing voice, Len!

Annnnnd, how could ya not fall in love w/ the content of your words, here. Excellent writing!

IIIIII think I like it! Very well done. Nice production all around!

Congrads! Dion

P.S. Did I mention, that I just happen to be deeply in love with, and married to, a Russian...

There are...
... a lot of fine elememnts in this song. A variety or arrangement, good chord progressions and a mix of sounds not usually heard together. As far as the tabla go I would attempt to vary their timbre, or velocities to add a bit more "feel," as with the staccato snare, slightly adjusting the hits.

The driving guitar chords might yeild a better sound field if panned stationary to the far L-and-R the second time they appear. I hear a cello mirroring the vocals, as the piano does, yet I want to hear more of the cello in a counterpoint.

The piano chords are nice, but when the reflect the melody... maybe a harmony? Or take off contrapuntally from the melody. There are incidental effecting add a nice touch.

The snare beckons to be flanged in the ending (from the time it enters again).

At one point the vocals appear centered and to the left. You might alternate vocals centered for some phrases, then panned stationary L-and-R.

Reverb, experiment with reverb to create a sound space with breadth. At points this seems so dry.

The vocals could increase with an emphatic flare as the song progresses.

Originality is your strongest point here, with an above average, fresh overall rating.

lengold said 468 days ago
Thank you
very much for your generous and insightful critique Alimar. I will certainly try to incorporate your excellent ideas into my next song. I think that overall you are saying that I should add more interest by slightly changing sounds as the song progresses. And your ideas for the cello/piano parts are very interesting, I will have to improve my playing techniques and knowledge.
VERY appreciated.

I've listened to about 4 of your songs and what I love is how it's not a copy of anything else. Your music is truly yours and I don't know about anybody else, but that's sometimes the hardest thing to do. I loved the snare are guitar sounds coming in halfway.

I had a friend try to teach me some Russian a few weeks ago and the only thing I remember was "Ya Tbya Lublu" (sp) so I was excited to see something I recognized. Cool tune!
