Really fine
Nice gentle swing to this very enjoyable song. You excellent playing creates a great treatment of a rag...

There's a spirit present in this song. I'm sure your grandfather loves your gift to him - this tribute - and is rightly proud of you.

Thanks for posting.

Ibstrat said 435 days ago

wow
great old time feeling.....u nailed it......conjures images of barbershop harmony.......sweet tone.....bravo!

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
Much appreciate
you checking out my music.Thanks.

drakonis said 436 days ago
sweet warm confidence
Not strutting, but just smiling friendly confidence, that is what this says to me. I like rags played at a reasonable pace, this one feels very natural. Sweet piece of music, and very relaxed-sounding playing (i.e. your talent allows you to make this sound easy ;-) Great work! Your grandfather is proudly toasting you with an iced tea on an infinite front porch, I bet.
ttfn,
Drakonis

I think
it's pretty cool that people here are so open-minded about musical styles. There are a lot of talented people doing different things but everybody checks out each other's music regardless of style.
Thanks for your comments!

michael2 said 436 days ago
love a rag
on guitar. this is a lovely tribute, as well as an all around nice song. your making me feel like a total hack :) good one.

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
I hope you are
joking about the "hack" thing. The music you are putting together is way beyond my production skills, and if you ever heard me sing...it's like Leo Kottke said on one of his albums- goose farts on a muggy day.

Cori Ander said 435 days ago
Hey!
Hey, this is nice stuff! Glad I came here to look.
It was Ejh who mentioned something about your sense of timing somewhere, and I've learned to always trust Ejh and he was right again.

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
Thanks so much
for your comments. You are a master of this style of playing...glad you checked out my song.As I mentioned to Ed it's not a real rag but it has that feel so I'll call it a rag anyway.

ziti said 435 days ago
hehehehe
got me right from the git go....

the rag time style in itself is aural prozac, rendering depression a thing of the past.

the trick to rag time time is to play it s l o w l y (ask cori!), and this tempo is perfection...as is the playing and composition. I am truly awed by this my friend, and I'm not so sure we should meet because i might be a bit gooogly...

truly great guitar music

deepest bows

z

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
Googly
You mean because I'm a big star now?! Seriously I would love to jam sometime... I think you could blow me out of the water jamming on blues but I'd like to try it anyway!
Thanks for your comments!

guitapick said 435 days ago
Doesn't get much better...
...fine, fine picking and a wonderful tribute to your grandfather. Really loved this, Mark.

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
Thanks so much
I really appreciate your continued support of my small musical endeavors.I'm having a blast trying to come up with stuff!

Ejh said 435 days ago
This song has great spirit, Mark...
Cori/Johannes will tell you that rags are not my favorite musical form, and yet sometimes when they're done with flair and spirit and if they're done with a feel for the tune and not at a breakneck, look-ma-no-hands pace, they make for wonderful music...

I continue to love your tone, pacing and phrasing...

I'm also tickled that so many MacJammers really get it about what a fine player you are...

Great heart in this one, too, Mark...Tune after tune, something of you comes through...

Ed

Ibstrat said 435 days ago
If i could
play with no hands that would be really cool!I seem to remember that you are not a big ragtime fan-this tune isn't a real rag,it's more of a 30's jazz tune.Glad you like it anyway.
I must also thank you again for constantly bugging me to join macjams.I've been inspired to actually write some music which I have rarely done in the past.(I have done quite a bit of arranging though.)Actually I am little amazed that people are paying attention.Having you announce my arrival in the forum didn't hurt!

jiguma said 435 days ago
Excellent!
Your best production yet Mark, by far imho. It goes without saying that your playing will be technically perfect, but this has so much heart in it as well ..... and the hunour certainly shines through.
This is just a seriously good, very well recorded, beautiful tune - congratulations!
Neil

Ibstrat said 434 days ago
Always great
to hear your opinion.I know very little about recording-just using a very basic setup. If you think the sound is good then it must be!
Thanks for your input!

Bubowski said 434 days ago
I Just Stumbled In
Just found you via the Participation Picks...Very nice tone and playing...I'll have to listen to the rest of your stuff! I agree with Ed...it's nice to here some ragtime played nice and laid back.

Ibstrat said 433 days ago
Thanks
for your comment.Just listened to your improv piece-sounds fantastic!

Moviz said 431 days ago
I could
just listen to your playing all day. This is nicely relaxing and soothing.... you make it sound so easy, but I'm not fooled LOL, cheers M

Ibstrat said 430 days ago
Glad you liked
the song.I am enjoying listening to your music as well.

Nice...
...fingers, and such a gentle little paean to your grandfather. Well constructed and impeccably played. This is supurb in just about every way. I am glad I got a chance to hear it.
Peace.

Bouncing
My feet are bouncing to the beat as I write. Tap tap tapping. Humor and a good beat are what its all about. Good clean guitar picking with no funny business.

Thanks
Bill

Ibstrat said 430 days ago
I really
enjoy playing in this style.I'm glad other people like it!

Chet Atkins Lives!
Not to diminish your fine work, but I thought it was Chet Atkins back amongst us.

Very nicely done.

Ibstrat said 430 days ago
I can't complain
about being compared to Chet Atkins! Thanks.

damiengh said 430 days ago
love it
Laid back and loosey-goosey. Really enjoy this style of ragtime/jazz acoustic. Ed sent me your way to give a listen and I'm glad he did.

Thank you
