Description one of those don't worry be happy type of things. Not much to say beyond that. Except just be happy!

Oh yeah. The dog art is something I created in Freehand.
Lyrics Happy You

you got your head in the clouds
you crashed to the ground
sometimes everything
lost or found
and you promised not to look back
a glimps over your shoulder to the past

chorus:
happy you
you found your space in this world
happy you
running down a dream, you're so serene
happy you

some days without cash
you are counting change
then you realize
you've been counting days
a happy face tattoo emblazons your back
does it really matter
as long as you're not trapped

chorus:
happy you
you found your space in this world
happy you
running down a dream, you're so serene
happy you

well you shed all your feathers
and want to settle down
your nested your rested
to take on tomorrow
now you no longer need to look back
some feathers in your pocket, just for laughs

chorus:
happy you
you found your space in this world
happy you
running down a dream, you're so serene
happy you

Thanks Feter
the music from the sixties and early seventies, from my favorite artists did not restrict themselves to follow formats. I like taking a basic style and of course add twists so you never what's coming next. It's how I keep myself amused.

Beautiful rock Vicar!
Nice addition to the Holman canon. Really nice tones on those guitars. Great vocal harmonies. And I really like those lyrics! I'm approaching the end now and I'm beginning to think this is among your very works...Stellar! Only wish the acoustic guitar solo in the mid-section was a tad longer...

Be well bro!

Vic Holman said 487 days ago
Thanks Mike
originally it was a slow song. then i decided it needed to be faster, then i didn't like the chord progression, so i changed those. funny how that happens.

The space where the short acoustic solo exists was already in place. Originally I was going to have a bunch of reversed vocal ramblings going on..but I changed my mind and slapped that out in the first take. glad i did.

Alright now Mr. Holman
If this is acoustic rock - I'm gonna run screaming if you ever post a metal tune. That said - this is a wonderful song with more creative elements an cool transitions than I can keep track of - including some pretty cool acoustic guitar breaks. But man - you can bend and modulate a chorus like nobody's business. Cheers!

Vic Holman said 487 days ago
well heck
it's physco-aggro-acoustic. there are five acoustic tracks and my DOT, semi hollow body played clean. there's only two electric guitar tracks. I don't have the voice for metal.
But it was fun one to play.

another
classic. your voice is so distinctive that you always have a signature sound no matter what the song sounds like. luckily for everyone, youy write great songs. really great chorus dude, some of those chord changes are totally out of nowhere.

Vic Holman said 487 days ago
Thanks Michael
I was always told for years to stop mumbling. Maybe I just mumble loader now and that's how I sound. I usually write the songs in bits and pieces and see what fits. Some that didn't fit, I'll just keep a memory of and use at some other time.

VC style!
Very George H tone on the lead there Vic, and another of your songs from the Beatles/Ray Davies/Blur "lost masters" collection. Love the timing shifts and the overall mix - maybe a little more vocal gain would be helpful, but maybe not. The acoustic section sounds so clean - very nicely recorded. Always enjoy your tunes Vic - they kind of take me back while being firmly here and now.
Another excellent post!
Neil

Vic Holman said 487 days ago
Thanks Neil
I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that there is some 3/4 time in places. The half time feel is the catch a breathe moments. I always plug the acoustics direct. the Ibanez has a xlr output and under saddle pick up that is excellent. the ovation I plug in direct as well.

I figure if I still update the sixties sound that eventually it will come back in vogue.
Thanks again Neil

Thanks for enjoying

This is awesome Vic!
You've got quite a vocal range there. This is the type of stuff I remember my older sisters listening to when I was growing up! Excellent guitar work all around, a very solid production and a enjoyable listen. Thanks!

I met your younger brother Mark & Bev down on P- dock at the yacht club this weekend! What a trip and a small world, eh? His slip is just a couple up from my brothers and my sister has one right next to him. It was my brothers B-day party. Great people! I had a really good time. I even played a tune for them. Sorry for the long comment/email. Love the song! Best to you man,

Alvin

Vic Holman said 487 days ago
Hey Alvin
I believe that music will change and come back around to where I will fit like a glove.

Thats cool you met Mark & Bev. I know they have been working pretty hard to renovate their house boat. Just so you know, I look totally opposite of Mark. Could be that milkman scenerio

Milkman?
I thought I was a milkman's kid too! Your a gifted musician Vic and I'm quite sure you fit like a glove already. I hear your one hell of a graphic artist as well. It's both an honor and a privilege getting to know you! Keep doing what your doing bro, you do it well!

I wasn't sure...
...to begin with - but by the end I was tappin my foot in varous time signatures.

I mean this as a compliment Vic - but your music messes with my head big time. You never know what's coming next, you break rules all ove the place and you hav unique approach to melody.

It's a kind of madness, but I like it - a lot!

Cheers,
Phil

Vic Holman said 486 days ago
Hey Phil
rules, what rules, we don't need rules.
True i like the element of surprise myself. tapping the foot is okay but dancing is not going to work.

Thanks for listening to the madcap adventure

Man, you just keep popping great tunes out! This is such an accomplished song - wonderful guitar and a really great vocal. The structural changes in this are awesome, really smart without being tricksy. This is probably one of the most commercial tracks you've done, very big and poppy. The flamenco solo tops this particular song off nicely... i cant figure of this is bitter sweet ... the narrator doesnt sound to happy here... or have I read this wrong.

Bloody awesome track

steve

Vic Holman said 486 days ago
Thanks Steve
I wanted and hoped that this would have some peaks and valleys so to speak.
Some of it was planned out and some additions, at points, of inspiration in places. For example, the acoustic solo was a last minute inspiration. I was originally going to ramble a bunch of reversed voices in that section, then though it would be to extreme. So the solo was a first take and fit better.

The lyrics, yet semi vague, is kind of a meditative awareness that life is good if you except the conditions your under. Back in my early twenties, my friends and I didn't have much, but we got by and enjoyed life. I guess it's open to interpretation

Groovy pysch track...sounds like Tom Petty has dropped some acid and decided to jam with Os Mutantes and The Bevis Frond!
Nice guitar sounds

no flashbacks were harmed in the making of this song. But I agree I wanted to create a trippy experience on the ears.
Thanks for tuning in

Great song... yet another song which toys with buddhist ideals IMO, Good going vic I love the chorus and the responding guitars...the flamenco touches are nice.

Vic Holman said 486 days ago
Thanks Tom
I've always liked that line "no matter where you go, there you are" . You learn through many experiences and hardships that it is just better to accept it and open your eyes that if your alive and you're doing okay.
I was hoping this song had a good energy to it and got the blood flowing.

Shocked me
Was expecting a straight forward acoustic song. But then you hit us with one of your best rock songs. LOVE the guitar bridge, nice, clean, and beautiful. Harrison-like.
Vic, all things must pass, but I hope your music doesn't.

Vic Holman said 482 days ago

Well the acoustics do outnumber the electrics. Thought i would give it different spin for the gendre.

Excellent new tune of yours

Vocals Keep Getting Better
...and &%#@ you keep blowing me away with those guitars! Reminds me of when I was a kid, playing my older sister's 45s on my record player (when she wasn't around) ...great psycho 60s tunes. I remember the artwork on those 45s rotating on the spindle as these guitars did wild things in the speakers.

Another biggo win, Vic. Wish I wasn't so late to the party, but... oh well. I brought beer.

Vic Holman said 472 days ago
mmm beeer
45's what are those? Kidding! I had tons of those. Gave what I had left to my brother who has a juke box. It's pretty fun when there's a party there and everyone starts singing along. I doubt if the neighbors are amused though.

Well... I've been remiss in making comments...
"Running down a dream" :-) (Love Petty!) Sometimes, when you get there... :-) Love the line, "some feathers in your pocket, just for laughs." And so, we "remix" and we redefine our dreams - waxing philosophical again... Sorry :-) Dreams - so sureal - very Hendrix, huh?! Ha! Ha! :-)

Vic Holman said 451 days ago
Hi Carole
your the only one to catch running down a dream line from petty.

And i thought it was a funny line to throw in the feathers in the pocket, it actually was just for laughs.
