Description Thanks to the good people at Vintage Music Festival for organizing the Analogapalooza event. By participating in it, I was able to reunite with my old band mate from 1999. The comments that were left convinced him that we should continue writing songs.

Now, here's our first tune recorded digitally as Telephone Booth.

Telephone Booth is Giancarlo Rendina and Bob Dorsey.

Thanks for any comments.

I like it alot
It reminds me of Muse, american style or Eels. Its a lovely tune with great percussions, synths-like guitar sounds and the lyrics are very nice. Good track for the regrouping of Telephone Booth.

sweeet
i always love your stuff and this is no exception. sounds different than your other stuff, but in a really good way. you guys compliment each other perfectly. great song.

cjdaley said 491 days ago
I first
I first understood the firstline as "like splattered brain on a freight train" and i thought "wow", but I was wrong, I think. This version of the song has a somewhat different feel from the first, cleaner and richer in a sense, but on the other hand a little more emotional.

I havent been on MJ for awhile...
So this is a nice surprise, good going guys live the infectious sounds and great lyrics reminiscent of a Jim Jaramusch soundtrack, great singing too look forward to...I have a lot of catching up to do.

one more thing...
Just wanted to say Giancarlo's voice reminds me of the singer from The Format, great song this is.

Sure glad you guys decided
to give it another go - this sounds great. Looks like there was birth at the VMF after all. So far I didn't hear about any bad trips - I certainly dug it.
Your synths are wonderfully perverse as usual - and I really like the basic beat - ditto Giancarlo's vox and guitar. Cool.

Nice sound. . .
I like your sound-- The vocals remind me of a mix between Bono and The Killers--

Nice work!

Wonderous
I'm glad you printed the lyrics, 'cause they're inspiring - really really great! Great vocals - the guy has a fantastic voice, and this is just sounds like it should be in a movie, nominated for best song in the oscars, but miss out to something more safe.

I'll be yr electro-friend any day!

Good one Guys
I listened a few times and It got better with each listen. Real nice tone and style to the vocal. Well writen and well produced. Keep 'em coming!

lavalamp said 490 days ago
Dude!
This may be the best I've heard so far. Great singing, reminds me of the Pixies, who I love.
Great beat and all around sound. Especially loved that twangy acoustic guitar in the background, that really adds to the texture.
I give it a 9.88, you have been rated, my electro friend.

Now where did this come from?
I must admit I was rather surprised by this (very pleasantly, mind you!) This is good and I think it is awesome (or is that awesome and I think it is good?) that you and your old band mate hooked up and started writing again! I wish I had a R-E-A-L drummer. Anyhow, I can't wait to hear some more of your stuff! Nice work fellers. Keep on keepin on,

Alvin

Awesome...
...you've reunited with a friend. Congratulations...

"...electro friend..." coins it quite well...

...Really like it and looking forward to more from you two...

BTW: my auto email function (for my faves) has been out for a couple of months. So I'm coming in late on stuff...

estellie said 485 days ago
yes!
I'll always love the original. But you don't know how happy it makes me to hear you guys got together to do this! I was secretly hoping this would happen!

That said, I hope this project continues.

UNCANNY - I took a picture of my dad's band that looks just like this - well, except that my dad wears a cowboy hat and plays the accordion. But that yellow wall and garage door - I swear I was there!

five_extra_arms said 485 days ago
Yee Haw!
Thanks estellie. I too will always love the original version of this song, but this one took on a new life when we revisited it and became something unique. I'm not too sure if this is the final version or not.

I'm waiting patiently for Giancarlo to send me our second song so that I can further mutate the song in ways I wished I could've done back when we were writing together.

I hope this project continues too and I'm so glad you have supported our efforts.

It is truly uncanny that your dad's band opened for us that night in Texas. What a show. He's one mean accordion player and I wish we could've hung out together, but all those groupie chicks that were dangling from him made me nervous.

five_extra_arms said 485 days ago
Thank you everyone
for listening and commenting. You know how much I appreciate every single word.

We have another tune on the plate and I'm very excited about sharing it. Just in case you're wondering, it's been really cool hooking up with an old bandmate and emailing files back and forth. I thought I'd want to sit in the same room and mess with basslines and effects, but with this trial song, I've enjoyed having the time to think about what I'm doing before I try to blow Giancarlo's mind with my best effort.

I sure love to hear him sing!

Thanks again for all the comments. You guys and gals are a priceless commodity.

Great mix, especially like that acoustic guitar sound.

Impressive.

I loved this song. Great groove and nicely esoteric lyrics.

80's style
I like that guitar, and how it is played. The synth adds to the feel of where the song belongs in genre, and it delivers the hook line. The drum pattern is about to go on my nerves... a bit too repetitive;)

Cool vocals. You have a great voice for this genre. I can't really hear any bass in here... Would be good to have one though...

This song has potential. It has a catchy refrain...As it is recorded here, I would think of it as a sketch or a first take... Maybe a bridge could add a little flavour...

five_extra_arms said 454 days ago
Nerves
Repetitive drums? I've got 'em!!

I can't argue with you about the drums. You've inspired me to rethink them, replay them and reinvent 500 million years of drum history. I'll probably do it over the weekend.

Seriously, this is extremely helpful.

Thanks for your ears and your thoughts.

Your electrofriend,

Bob

hey now!!
what a cool sound, bob.
"i'll wear my impediment" - tasty.
the bordering-on drone vocal is OUT there - and i like it that way.
the retro beat makes this quirkily excellent.
bravo, boys!

Love it
Great little pulsing riff in the background. The voice really compliments it, sounds really fragile over the delicate electro elements. He sounds like the guy from The Killers a bit. Well done.

MIRx said 306 days ago
I have to agree with the guy
who said a bass would add to this, nonetheless gorgeous tune. Glad you and your bandmate decided to go on writing songs :)

five_extra_arms said 247 days ago
Where's The Bass?
It's funny that we didn't put a bass in it originally. We've been working on a few new songs lately and I added the bass to this one and now I'm working on some variation in the drums. I plan on posting the revised song soon.

Thanks for your helpful comment.

Really enjoyed this track
Just happen to listen to it by accident when visiting your home page and the player played this track. It stopped me and I listened. Really cool track, love all the elements.

Thanks Keith!

Must have liked the track
Just realised I was the first to comment. I liked it then and I still like now. Cool track, it has staying power. Nice one Bob :-)
