Freedom! Neil, this song is a timely one for me, as I've just stepped into a new freedom, having made the very tough decision to leave a church I'd been an integral part of for ten years. I stayed for the wrong reasons, and had to finally do what was right for me. (I'm going swimmiung somewhere deep" :-) But I digress... Your playing is superb on every instrument you pick up, and your mixing is always professional. Vocals, lyrics, everything is great. :-) |

Feeling Good This one really gave me a lift this morning. Gave me a real cheery feeling. It makes me wish I had a convertible so I could load this up on a CD, take down the top and go for a ride through the country on a warm, sunny day with this blaring out of the speakers. It's just that kind of tune. I especially like the last set of verses. That's really where I feel like I am in my life right now and it feels pretty good. Thanks for this one, Neil. You always manage to really hit an emotional chord (get it? Chord...). |

Love... ...the jam near the end! The whole song is impressive, Neil. Beautiful production. Very full, lush sound. Tasteful bass, too (I expect no less from you). Good stuff! |

As I get more into... ...recording techniques, I become more and more aware of when it's being done really well (or otherwise). You're music/performance/production are all on a consistently high level, Neil. I'm more than impressed... Love this tune... |

Nice track There is a bit of early Andy Summers-like guitar in there: I think its the jangly telecaster sound with chorus that does it. It's a particularly nice rhythm track that compliments the bass really well, though. Some good lyrics too. Good overall mix. |

Spotted this while I was a work today - but there's no sound there which is so frustrating! Anyway, I enjoyed this very much. Good lyrics, tight playing and high production values - Like this little lift towards the end. Good stuff. Peter |

Bloody hell ... yeah, little bit of 'walking on the moon' this, but bloody hell the production is good on this neil ... my only slight critique is that I'm nt keen on the bass drum sound, but that's personal taste (it's a little click-y for me). Otherwise, this sounds like you've done this in a studio ... amazing quality. Lovely guitar work all through this, and all the parts are really strong ... pretty stunning, really. The tail out is a particular fav - great guitar melodies. god, I'm envious steve |

nice song great chord changes and sounds (although I have to agree with Echoroom about the kick). THis is a great song, and the chorus really comes out of nowhere (a good thing). |

well you did it again Neil Love the overall sound, and the lyrics are very good. Your playing on this one is outstanding. Good rhythm guitar and lead, and I liked the bass line and rhythm tracks. But being the deaf one in the crowd, even with my hearing aid all the way up there were times when the lyrics were being covered up by the music tracks. So my thought would be to bring the vocal up into the mix a few db to make sure the message is heard loud and clear. Great work all around Neil. Thanks for sharing this one with us and keep up the good work. Ed |

Jiguma rides again! This is a great 'follow up' to 'Things Must Change', Neil. I noticed the water imagery has resurfaced- 'I'm going swimming somewhere deep'. I really like the underlying thread throughout your last few songs. Your craftsmanship with words and your story-telling ability never ceases to amaze me.... ...oh, did I mention the tune, production & playing is great also?! ;) I'm looking forward to catching up with you very soon for another 'tale-swap meet'...of the liquid kind! Cheers! Alf |

It happened again... I'm listening to a few songs when I get a minute, I hit 'play' for a jiguma tune, AND IT'S IN MY FACE... Getting good with the Ozone, are we? The neat thing is, to my ears it's loud and full but it has space and I don't hear pumping or other artifacts of non-artfully-done sorts of compression, such as I've been guilty of myself... And, full as it is, it continues to be simpler than many of the jiguma productions of the past... The vibe is one of of relaxed confidence... I also hear in this something I think of in my own recordings as the 'George Harrison Principle', which is one when one really does the work to take a voice that, while good, is not McCartneyesque in its range, and plays to its strengths, stretching its capacity for comfortable melody... And I do hear a widening range of melody in your latest tunes... I think in your earlier productions you might have handed some of that duty over to your guitars, but now there's more in the vocal, if that makes sense... I'm a bit tired tonight, and so probably missing some of the other good stuff going on, but I have to say that this sounds very clean, clear and like much of a step up... Once again Cockburn-esque, and, like his songs, I'll probably find myself taking it in more and more with repeated plays... Ed |

I won't say Police 1'll say "chimey" Sparkling song overall. Guitars are great! And a excellent bass line that I always find lyrical in its own sense. The outro guitar section is really the topper! |

Love that sting style, though your own of course. The bass and lower end of this tune sound very nice with the arpeggios. The guitar is s unique style. Like that touch of Hawaiian, though very slight. I have said this before but your compositions seems to be maturing with more character as it was a year ago. Not that it was not good further back . You just seem to have more musical paint on your pallet. And making that paint really count in areas were needed. That is a very good sign of musical growth. |

The introduction is epiphanic. The introduction straight line. The rhythm is hard and simple, too. I felt it in good compatibility. One of pretty tunes. |

Well... If it isn't mister, "up the ante"... This one made me close my eyes and grin, while rockn' the ol' chair like nobodys' watchn'... Those g'tars seem to expand and swell the mind into pure goodness... Those six fat strings, they could sink a willing soul, "somewher deep" and into the neighborhood of, sinfully sweet... Annnnnnd, it sounds like you fired your last drummer and decided to cough up the extra, whatever it takes, to get what your music deserves... Something kinda headonistic about the listening experience... If I confessed to how many times this tune has done me, I might be confessing to having cheated... Can I just say, right on! Neil! And, thank you, Sir! Dion |

Am I getting a bit of teen rebellion here? Excellent work this, I'm particularly impressed with your musicianship on this and the production is absolutely cracking. I was picking up a hint of Police too - circa Spirits in the Material World I think - go on tell me Stewart Copeland was on the stool... KK |

thinking CD-wise I was listening to this song while making dinner (yes, I bought myself a pair of goos speakers for my Mac!) and I thought 'Hmmm... Neil has made stronger songs than this one'. But when the song ended, I played it again. And an other time. The singing melody might sound a bit 'easy' at first listen (that's what I experienced), but the whole groove of the song is what made me listen and listen again. In a way it's very addictive. And more and more when listening to your music, I'm thinking in terms of the upcoming CD. I think I made a big mistake with mine, by making it too overloaded with deep and emotive songs. I realise now that a bit of variation, maintaining the same quality level, is what a good album needs. This song would fit perfectly amongst all your others on the album, Neil. And I'm really looking forward to it... - walt |

late to the party Hey Jiguma, Very sweet little smootie you have here. Lots of great comments. It is great sunny Sunday morning just waking up with the coffee kind of vibe to it. My little quibble is the slightly 'canned" sound of the chorus plugin (?) you have applied to the main vocal. The rest of the track is so INCREDIBLY professionally mixed, REALLY excellent tonality. Lots of distance in EQ spead between instruments, nice stereo field placement. Tops. Philip |

You know.......... Think you know I love your stuff, sorry I haven't been around in a while. Really love the production on this one. Especially like the bass playing and the clean guitar sound. Appreciate the lyrics, pro quality. You know what, I think it's a shame that people, in general, don't really pay attention to lyrics like they did in the past. Most care only about a good beat and maybe a catchy line. But don't worry, there are still folks like me who DO pay attention. Great job Keep it up. Dave |

Great bit of songwriting, Neil Really nice strong melody and catchy beat. You have a great way of combining different guitar (and bass!) sounds into a luscious wave of sound. I like the funky little bit towards the end. |
