nice scenery ..!

michael2 said 494 days ago
thanks
for listening. there is this "band" called Stars of the Lid that I love that does a lot of stuff like this. You either really love it or hate it. My wife finds it immensely boring, but I can't get enough of this type of thing.

biba_nova said 494 days ago
Fantastic
Love the frippertronic feel of this...and it kind of reminds me of....me, the stuff I do.

:-)

Song or not - this is very good!

michael2 said 493 days ago
well
thank you for the compliment; you know that we are both obsessed by a lot of the same music. thanks for coming by.

Vic Holman said 493 days ago
you must have a big backyard
pretty expansive sound. nice additons of the reverse tremolo guitar and vocal. And of course the chirpy critter.

michael2 said 493 days ago
thanks Vic
for the most part, it's actually a bunch of acoustic guitar manipulated.i was watching Sophie play on the porch and wanted to do something where I didn't have to think about structure. thanks for listening.

what a lovely view :)

thank you
for listening, glad you approve.

Very audacious of you - really nice piece
As you know I've wandered in some of the same areas - I can really get into this. I especially like the little bit of structure and change you built in - very flowing and organic. Yum.

well
thank you for listening, relating, and for the "audacity" of that pun. glad you like.

Ahhhhhhhhhh.......... :D)*
Yes, this is WONDERFUL!!!!! Like taking in all of nature and the cosmos....breathing it all in.......and then relaxing with it......BEAUTIFUL!! I would love to know how you create sounds that sound like stars and the infinate. :D)

michael2 said 493 days ago
wow
thanks so much; i love the way you described this. so kind; i'm really glad that you liked this one.

Droney
... is my new fav word. Sounds kinda Eno-ish t me, which I mean as a compliment. Electric ethereal - really liked this, Mike.

Damn! A bold statement. Unfortunately some people can't reach deep enough or understand or appreciate tracks like these. They tell an emotional tale. The dead texan (aka stars of the lid) always bring shivers down this spine of mine. A bold statement that could have lasted for hours, imo. Only suggestion from this rock-nono is that the intro is too short, give it a bit more space. Same (perhaps) goes for the reversed vocal stab, NOT the guitar, that works very nicely through out the track. Perhaps it is your rock attitude that plays a part in this, like i have difficulties abiding to rock rules when thinking of the remix of your song. Btw, it is just a suggestion of little magnitude. I played the song a couple of times now and still dig it like a nice grave;-)

Very nice sir!

michael2 said 492 days ago
you are right
i should have left the intro go on for awhile by itself. the vocal was actually a mistake (said something while recording). the next one will be really long, with simple piano over the top. very astute observation about the rock atitude playing a part in the arrangement. growing up on guitar rock definitely left a lasting impression as to how things should be laid out. i used to play with a guy who discovered rock way after the fact and he was such a cool musician. took what he liked, left the rest. thanks for listening.

Morphing backyard - where am I?!
Much more intense than your usual soundscape with synth swooshes and pretty "sunrise feel"! More like an active, dynamic reflection on the transience of a moment. Wonder if you were watching clouds while doing this. Reminded me of Sigur Ros and - strangely - biba_nova... The only song with that name I know is Imogen Heap's Cumulus, which incidentally has a similar ethereal feel to it. I always like when someone capable and talented as you goes into a new direction and comes up with something like this! And sure it's a song, a really really good song!

yes
I was looking at the clouds. we've been having a crazy heat wave and the cumulus clouds are piling up behind the mountains. it's quite a show. thanks so much for listening.

drakonis said 491 days ago
what DOES a cloud sound like?
I was sitting in my back yard last weekend (sweating), watching the very same cumulous clouds billowing up over the desert. In some ways, this does feel very nebulous/cumulous/ponderous... but I guess the fact that there wasn't much repeating of sounds, or echoing, made this feel smaller than a huge cumulous cloud... I was expecting things to rattle around and come back as echoes (like the guitar, and voice.) However, the chorus and backward guitar/voice were definitely the right textures, this really began to feel dreamy and somewhat intangible and cloudy... very nice, and easy to drift away and listen to. Great soundscape, as usual!

Reminds me of Sigur Ros. Sounds really nice. Nice journey

michael2 said 485 days ago
thanks
i'll take that, I loves me some Sigur Ros.

man, i don't even know what to say.
this is amazing.

yrp said 480 days ago
its great
Michael. In fact, much better than most of the ambient stuff I usually send you.
Although you mention "Stars of The Lid" and "Dead Texan', I think it resembles "Eluvium", another favorite of mine.Specially his noisy guitar works like "Taken".
What instruments did you use in that one?
Great job, my friend!

michael2 said 479 days ago
hey
carlos, good to see you. thanks for listening. i used accoutic guitar that I processed heavily to make this song. that and a lot of delay and backwards processing. basically just a buncjh of noise i looped and played with.
