Keywords faux britpop (1)love song (49)alternative pop (1)my bloody valentine rip off (1)
Description this is my take on brit-pop; its an ode to my wife NIcole and it's actually really rock for me. this one needs to be cranked to get the full effect. I also have a version in the works with Vic Holman playing guitar, but I got bored today (home sick from work), so I ended up working on it. Stay tuned for the second version.

top Top Top ....what a cool Guitar work
and arrangment ...your singing just AWESOME !!
shine like a sun !! ...KUDOS !!

michael2 said 504 days ago
thanks for listening
so glad you like this one. i was picturing my bloody valentine jamming with badfinger. took me a little while to get a halfway decent guitar sound out of the GB presets, but eventually i found one. thanks for listening, can't wait to hear what Vic does to it.

jiguma said 504 days ago
Oh yes!
Lovely Lennonesque song Michael. I like the way you've done it, but a VH version should be a screamer.
Cheers,
Neil

michael2 said 504 days ago
right?
can't wait for that one? it's funny, looking at your message, I think he needs a new avatar that looks like the Van Halen logo. the big winged VH. tanks for listening.

thanks so much
for the kind words. really glad you enjoyed the song.

That's the good thing
about being off sick! It's a bit late to crank it up but sounds pretty good low in case. I'm not that familiar with My Bloody Valentine and I'd like to pretend that I'm too young to remember Badfinger... Anyway, I like it and look forward to the second version with Vic's guitar work.

thanks Peter
i'm in that age group where i remember alot, for better or worse. thanks for listening.

MBV fronted by Lennon
produced by Nick Lowe - the perfect cocktail. Great sounds throughout - especially the guits and vox. Well done. Can't imagine what the next version might sound like. Can't wait.

michael2 said 504 days ago
can you
imagine john lennon fronting rockpile, produced by Kevin Sheilds from MBV? thanks for the props.

Justin Case
just in case I haven't told you, you are one of my favorite singer/songwriters. This is another genuine m2 classic that I will enjoy for a loooonnnnggg time.

I hope you get sick more often (in the nicest way).

You're a rock angel.

I hope we're prepared for Vic's treatment.

Thanks Micheal.

Is Sophie walking yet?

Bob

michael2 said 504 days ago
thanks Bob
glad you like. Sophie is just getting ready to crawl (she's 5 months old today); it's pretty cool to watch. thanks for stopping by.

five_extra_arms said 504 days ago
5 Months!
It gets better every day, my friend. Crawling, drooling, standing, falling, chewing, laughing, walking, falling again, talking....

I love fatherhood.

Even though it wants to drive you to drink sometimes, it's the most sobering experience of my life. Glad to see your wife still inspires you too. That's important.

Keep on man.

Bob

she'll love five extra arms.

Bad Smells said 504 days ago
At times....
your vocal sounds like a mild Kurt Cobain then magically turns into John Lennon. At the end it morphs into a Genesis Jam. It's all good! Excellent listen and thanks for the DL.

kurt lennon
I've actually thought that myself a few times while listening to a couple different m2 tracks.

Macaudion said 504 days ago
I might not change a thing...
This is a great track, Micheal. If you'd named just about any other person other then, Vic, to play the guitar on this, it'd have me just a little bit nervous for you.

It all sounds of a mighty fine piece to me.

I hadn't realized how much you successfully employ your voice as an instrument. That struck me on this.

Good job, man. Dion

M2=E-ticket
Sounds like another epic hit to me...... I hope you don't call this new collaboration team "Michael Vic". Interested to hear the next iteration. Regards

Vic Holman said 504 days ago
yikes!
pressure.... I better use a different and heavier pick and guitar chord. A ten footer I'm thinking.

said 504 days ago
Tight sound!
Very nice track. I'll also be looking forward to the second version and what Vic adds to this.

Mellowing
You've been slightly mellowing and showing your psychedelic side recently - sounds like the sun has come out for you - it suits you very well Michael. great mix, really classy songwriting and some great guitar work (love the little grungey stabs) - I love how the chorus sustains itself for longer than you think.

Beautiful track

i tried
your bass trick on this one, and it really helped out a bunch. theres actually some bottom end for a change. it's funny you say "mellowed" as this is about as rock as I get. thanks for listening.

Lot of stuff here! Great and consistent drive. Nice melody and lyrics. I get into the pendulous rhythm.

it's
kind of a caveman feel. "me bang stick on rock, it feel good."

smashing
treatment you've given this... it does have a beatles sound too as Jiguma says. Love those 'Beatle-like' harmonies that pop up in the vocals.. and the guitar sounds too are great (especially the wavy one) along with that nice heavy bass, Brill, M

tommy lee-ish
like it... post the lyrics, pleeze?
i say tommy lee, cause it immediately reminds me of his solo album, not the m.o.m., but the tommy lee one, can't recall the title, that will bug me all night.. great. it's buggin me already.... great.
good song, tho... dam! what is the name of that.....................

Hi...
I'm new to your stuff... Got a good vibe with this one... Sorry, but I hear Nirvana'esque vocal... But that's not a bad thing...

I'm gonna take time and go thro' your other material... I look forward to being pleasantly surprise...

Speak soon...

Karmatoburn said 502 days ago
classic
Its just got a great texture from word go. The ways the guitars blend, the superb vocal work and the classy production is all in my sweet spot. I love pop, and this has a nice alt feel and edge to it. It is indded very british sounding. Makes me think of beatles, xtc or any of the hook inspired bands I truly love. Can't wait for the Vic Holman version

cjdaley said 502 days ago
it's been said before
but I really like the MBV feel of this. Not to downplay the Michael2 side of this, cool, sensitive and talented

rock it
like the bass its like a heavy glue with guitar accents.. your singing is realy good on this. the kind of grinding synth in the back makes this! excellent!!!!!!!

michael2 said 498 days ago
thanks bro
always appreciate the big-ups from the bandit.

Parichayaka said 499 days ago
Wow!
Excellent song! The sound here is original and so much more creative than so many other songs I've listened to recently. The organ in the back reminds me of Lenny Kravitz's earlier records. Really like the hook - catchy and easy to remember and the way your use the e-guitar to spice it up is perfect. Your voice could easily be more forward in the mix and I found the bass a bit overpowering overall drowning out some of the detail but - boyohboy - what an awesome song! Can't wait for any new version, as long as it sounds anything like this:)

michael2 said 498 days ago
thanks
for the props. it's funny, usually i have the problem of disappearing bass, but i tried something new this time. eventually i will get the balance right. thanks for listening.

smokey bacon jnr said 499 days ago
cool song
really liked this - got a nice minor key kind of groove. I am just catching up on a lot of people's stuff and will definitely check out some more of your songs. Love that slide guitar sound - do you really need any more guitar plug ins, you seem to be doing great work without em.

michael2 said 498 days ago
thanks a bunch
actually there is no slide guitar, that's all synths and some strings run through a lot of distortion and ddelay. the guitar parts are the chorused strum in the verses and the power chords/stabbing bit. and to answer your question: yes, doesn't everyone want more of everything? thanks so much for listening.

this was a great listen! smiled through the entire song. thank you for the bright spot in a dull day

Psycho daddy baby!
I love the whining lead, it don't sound like Brit-pop in my ears (unfortunately), more like a Californian Hip dudester-got-my-lady-with-me-on-the-beach-tune. The organ is very very yummy. Again, you are so talented! My only real criticism is the recording quality, it is too soft and misses clarity. I don't whether that is a lack of compression, recording techniques (mic's) or something. Perhaps a strange question, but I would love to do a remix of this song! I mean it. I would love to turn it into something even more psycho-daddy-baby!

respecta!

michael2 said 498 days ago
oh yeah?
i would love for you to re-mix it, i am not that great at mixing. your right, it does sound a little mushy. i'll IM you and send you the files. It's in GB3 and i used jampack4 for the strings, so i need to know how to send it so that the sounds are locked into place whether or not you have that particular software (if anyone knows).

said 498 days ago
wow:-)
Thank you for the speedy reply! I am so excited with this news. I don't use any software accept Adobe Audition to record and use AIFF (wave files). So if you can send me the AIFF's. We'll discuss more in a PM or add me at msn: m.c.m.goemans@students.law.uu.nl . or skype me (justbase) or icq 493-747-255. Booyaka, that way we can send the files through the IM proggies (if they are really big).
