Description Analogapalooza Entry #3

I guess it's the Giancarlo's role in this band that makes these songs so lovable.... This is an image I used for one of our very first gigs.

This time I had my bass plugged into the RAT pedal and Dr. Rhythm was plugged into one too. When we played this live, we were accused of being the loudest band in Tampa. Ask anyone at New World Brewery in Ybor City.

Enjoy the story and thanks for the interest, fan mail, photos and death threats.
Hardware Bass guitar, Dr Rhythm, RAT pedals, Fender Strat, Alesis MidiVerb, Tascam Portostudio
Software: Audacity straight from the 4 track - no correcting

Revival
Sounds like a good idea to me!

Thanks for the encouragement Len.

You guys had a truly unique sound
glad we're getting a chance to hear it. I like the Dr. Rat sound. I assume this is 4 track and you played the guitar as well.

five_extra_arms said 476 days ago
Dr Rat
Pik actually played his handsome black Strat with a fierce sneer and pink hair.

We used that Tascam Portostudio in our live performances too. Mostly as a mixing board for me and also another way to add much needed noises to enlarge the sound of this 2 man band.

Now that I think about it, it was the beginning of the Five Extra Arms concept! Playing bass, synths, drum machines, back up vocals and working the 4 track during a live performance. No wonder I was always so tired at the end of our 14 minute sets!

When we had 7 songs averaging less than 2 minutes each, we would play our set list twice and no one ever noticed! If we had a second set, you would hear the same song 4 times!

Usually, we were pretty good by the third time we went through the songs! Go figure! Our rehearsal was live before an audience that didn't know it.

Er...
Great sound on the bass and dig that distortion.

Really quite strange but I'm strangely drawn to it.

I need a lie down :-)

Cheers

I love this song
It en(time)capsulates a lot of things I like: merciless industrial hammering, growling guitars, clenched jaw minimalism, and enough vocal melodies to get a song in the end. It's not all bands who can replay their whole set as an encore anyway.

a polaroid moment
I hear some definate roots here. Wouldn't you know it I tossed out a lot of demo tapes from 20 years ago just 6 months ago.

Dirty beetch!
ooh, this is great, a lovely flithy bass sound, and really ace vocals - where is this guy now Bob? You gotta get him here! Love the simplicity of the beat, and the 'thunk' of the snare on thsi - sometimes fake drums are better! This is really ctachy too, man!

Please organisre a reunion tour!

Roots R-n-R
Raw & full of energy - like everything about the 'anolotech' approach & sound - cool stuff - time to dig a few more out!

Blessings,

Thanks Guys
We must all come from the same filthy seedy pub.

As you can tell from some of my newer songs, that brutal fat and dirty bassline is a preference of mine. Nothing screams "LISTEN TO THIS!" better than a bass run through a RAT pedal.

I'm trying to see if PIK is up for the challenge of posting some stuff with me. I just hope he hasn't run out of ideas or that his voice has changed.

Thanks for the comments!

interesting dude
Like your style dude. Really good to here some of your stuff again.
Like the use of distortion here with the bass.
Who's singing?

great bass
Like the bass on this, the distortion really works. I'm just catching up with some of your stuff - it has a very infectious simplicity - like some of the early punk stuff I used to listen to in the seventies. Cool.

Love it
This is the first of the tunes you submitted for Telephone Booth. I'm going to definitely have to revisit the others.
