Description track wasn't ituned to 440, so I made it noisy with harmonies (couldn't figure out how to adjust the tuning on the software instruments, and i only had about an hour to mess around).

picture the Jesus and Mary Chain if they were noisy on their acoustic songs. been really busy on the child rearing scene, so haven't been around much, and this song is the first song i've recorded in awhile. Nicole went to the grocery store with the baby, so I took advantage of the time; I just improvised a guitar and vocal track at the same time, and then added stuff to it.
Hardware intel mini mac, MXL USB mic, SM57, Ibanez bass run through my trusty classic fuzz, Hamony Broadway acoustic,
Software: GB, some soft synths from the remix jampack ( I used the "electroclash lead" sound)

That's wicked!
I love these lazy-grunge type of songs. Reminds me of the lost Nirvana recordings. Definitely going on my favorites.

michael2 said 497 days ago
thanks
i'm always happy to get nod from your direction.

dajama said 497 days ago
Nice!
This is laid back, nicely distorted and fuzzy, and the vocal is terrific. Makes me think of summer (something lazy about it) and makes me want to play along. Very cool. Nice work. Peace.

michael2 said 497 days ago
i'm
really glad you liked this one. wasn't sure about the drums, but left them in anyways.

Lovin' it
Makes me think of summertime songs from the 60's with a mod, modern twist - all the different sound sources you used fit together so perfectly to create a instant fav - lazy summer grunge folk rock music = whatever it is I dig it!

Blessings,

your description. thanks so much for stopping by, and I'm really stoked that you like.

It has been a long time
classic Michael2 tune, pretty and crammed full of sonic surprises. I like this tambourine (?) thing.

michael2 said 495 days ago
hey there
i put the tambourine in as an afterthought. i just played everything live on one of the drum kits from the world music jampack. it was wandering-euro-gypsy or something like that.

Great tune
I dig it... Thanks for sharing.

Take care

you have wide open musical taste, so I really appreciate the comment.

cjhoose said 497 days ago
like the tambourine
actually. it all sounds good to me, sound fx included. Strong laziness. (?)

i love getting comments from people who's stuff i respect.

Curious combination, all that distortion, and the folksy vocals, but it works. I feel like whistling along to this.

Victor.

michael2 said 495 days ago
thanks Vic
curious indeed. i generally work from the "what happens if i press this button?" school of recording.

Chillin on a sunny afternnon
This has a really great vibe and reminds me a little of Syd - but I guess any lazy acoustic guitar reminds me of him. Nice high freq refrain over the "ba bas". Sorry your time is tight - but you managed to make something really special in the brief window of opportunity.

michael2 said 495 days ago
mmmm
Syd. You know I love him so. I think I was actually going for a faux country vibe at first, and then wouldn't you know it: out came the fuzz pedal. good to hear from you.

cchaplin said 496 days ago

This one for putting me knee's up when I'm on a bender.

Very cool.

You're totally brilliant man!
This is the coolest thing that's happened to me all day.
Much easier to listen to than most of the lost Nirvana stuff. I had at least a dozen of those songs on a tape I somehow ended up with in 1996. I always thought they were dirty like that because it was a copy of a copy of a copy...not to offer Nirvana any disrespect. They remain forever in my favourite of favourites catagory.

Way off topic. Sorry.

That's some seriously gnarly distortion, balanced perfectly with the nigh on effortless acoustic strumming. Perfect vibe for today, though I am so many miles from California.
The software sounds just right too.
Peace,
-Rain

Oh, forgot to mention the atom heart mother era vibe i picked up too. Listening for the third time now.

michael2 said 495 days ago
hey man
thanks for stopping by. glad you approve. i like the distortion on the bass too. maybe if Cobain hadn't of killed himself, we would all have the treat of hearing him jam with Floyd, but instead you get me :)

Nice feedback
Nice song and i like how everything is compressed together. Im curious to which microphone you chose to do the vocals Sm57 or Mxl?

Nice work-

michael2 said 495 days ago
thanks for commenting
appreciate your stopping by. i used both of the mics for the vocals actually. i plugged in the 57 first and did the guitar and vocals at the same time, then i used it for the bass. after listening to the results I thought the vocals were a little muffled, so i did another track of vocals with the MXL. The MXL is generally much better for vocals, and if I had more time I would have recorded this better (should have recorded everything with the MXL), but when you got a 4 month old in the house you take what you can get.

SuperFuzz
Wonderful backing vox and I dig the sound you got on the bass, big-time. I'm from Seattle, so that's mandatory, really. They make us sign something.

I think you should start a business showing people with four month old babies how to have a life. I was face down drooling in the carpet when my daughter was that age, so I'm impressed, grocery store or not!

I think it's worth going back sometime in the future, when you can steal an hour, to tweak the production a bit. I say this only because the song and your performances are REAAAALLLY good. Some fine-tuning would send this into the stratosphere. Love your vocals, especially.

michael2 said 494 days ago
thanks
ledebutante, very nice of you to say. i'm so bad about going back to things (i usually just go onto the next thing). someday. how old is your daughter now? aren't they the coolest. when she smiles at me with that big toothless grin, i feel like my heart will explode.

M2 You are a legend...
in your spare time. This reminds me of the beatles in flannel and torn jeans...on surf boards. This was a very enjoyable listen.
