Do I detect a bit of Bowie in the vocals...very nice song. Great guitar work as per usual. Glad to hear you are getting back into Dylan...i am a bit of a Bob fanatic myself. Steve |

YeAH, Brother Where to start? Great Groove, (and your daughter is right, Not Too Long). Rhythm Guitars are very Cool and their energies do not cancel one another. What a Rhythm Section: Drums are everywhere they are supposed to be and nowhere else (Great Mix). Bass is A Main Course, tonight! Exuberant and Much more of a Player than any Typical Rock-ish Bass. Full Round sound. Not one bit overdone, in my opinion. The Rode (or some aspect of the Mix) leaves the second voice a bit Thin, somehow. Were I Phil Spector, I'd back it off and thicken it by doubling and some EQ. However, it is lithe and active and is hardly a detraction (though I think that is the root of the "Major Tom" ideation, which I suspect was not your intention (to orient by disorienting anything). I find the Melody brilliantly understated, thereby providing the space for the Breadth of the comment of the Lyric, from Macro external to the awe of the Personal (such as:"As each new day goes by - I find the Time to shed another Tear"). Whew! That said, I'm not ready to say this is your Best - just the Best to Date, in several, courageous ways. I Like It. Best, rtc |

Oddly uplifting Not "feel good" by any means, but hopeful. The world will be what we make it. Very nice. The bass line does sound like it was a lot of fun to do. The two rhythm guitar parts give it a nice breezy feel. Be sure you take your guitar and play and sing to the new grandbaby as soon as possible. It's never too early to start your future fan base. :) |

Digging it! Neil- this is a great story-song. I have to tell you how much I admire your style. Totally unique and familiar at the same time. Beautiful mix on this- especially like the warmth overall on the guitars and voice. You tell a damn fine story! |

Nice work Sounds like an Aussie summer to me. Terrific song, mate. The sound/feel is spot on. Really nicely produced - got a nice natural sound. Great songwriting: lyrics, chords, melody, harmonies. Loved it. |

The body is to the flow of the river Sound of bass. Impact of drums. Whisper of organ. Your singing voice. Very good mixing. You and your beloved daughter Mardi must have happiness. |

Just keep walking forward One of the things I find interesting about this is just the relentlessness of it. The way the bass line just keeps going at the same pace with a similar rhythm never stopping is great. If it were a loop, it would get very boring, but because the piece has a great imperfect jam sort of sound it kind of sounds as if you could be%2 |

The whole package This song is such a delight, technical observations took a back seat to simply chilling and enjoying the ride with the top down! This reminds me of some of George Harrison's post-Beatle stuff. Nice job - and LOVE how in the moment it is! |

After almost two weeks of being away, and or being offline The first thing IL do is pick through my over 50 emails in quest of a Jiguma tune - Ahhh.... - Don't know why ths one made me cry... - And then there were the chills up my being... - And then there was the smile that was smacking the underside of both earlobes - And some more tears... - Through it all; head bobbing, crying, smiling (that solo groove really did it), and the phat chills, as I was listening I kept thinking, I can't wait to ride this again... And of course, this will require that I download yet another excellent J groove that moves ya the way a tune should. Did I mention how much I really lyked this one...Yea, I really do - Thanks, Neil - Dion |

Up to you? If it's up to me... ...I'll make you president of Australia (or is it prime minister?), and maybe you can help everyone make this a better world. Message is powerful and the lyrics reveal your poetic genius. The rather unusual rhythmic superimpositions has an appealing novelty to it. There is almost an almost imperceptible touch of dissonance but I believe it is what spices up this song. Vocals are soothingly unique with the harmonies, too. Melody is mostly in the minor key and has little variation or build to sustain the interest and seems to languish a bit towards the end..but musically maybe that is the idea. That little nit-picking aside, this is overall a wonderful tune worth listening to repeatedly, its music for the heart to relish and its message for the mind to digest. |

Grabs me This tune is deep. It grabs me. Recognise many of the feelings. Am only 53 ... but it passes ... it is a bad, sad and dangerous world growing ... and one day the kids are going have to make it without me ... realizing that, has been my probably most serious existential confrontation so far ... By the way I've had a Dylan revival period too, peeking last summer with the reading of his biography, which was a stong experience that changed my attitude to life a little ... |

Right on! I'm too new to rate, but I can apparently still comment, so allow me: I really enjoyed the song as driven by the guitar counterpoints. I thought the bass was well done - I am in awe of multi-instrumentalists like yourself. I would normally consider the length of the song a bit long, but the fact that it is a story-song makes that not so bad. I like that your vocal timing is not right on the beat - gives it a trippy, syncopated flavor. Very good stuff from down under! |

Very Cool! Another great song, Neil. Cool mix. I'm partial to multi-layer guitar tracks. Quite a blend you have working here. Nice git-picking. Very cool and up-tempo for a song about the changes in your life. Thanks for the good music from down under. A keeper. Scorp:) P.S.: Hammond Organ is a real nice touch. |

inspired lyrics & vocals This song grabbed me right from the beginning, with its catchy percussion and guitar. Then the vocals immediately command attention -- great lyrics, sung in almost a folky style similar to Simon & Garfunkel. I like the loose feel of the vocals; they're almost conversational. The quickly-moving words descending downwards in pitch are very effective. Also, great diction and intonation; every word comes through clearly. The harmonies are excellent. There is a certain "winsome" quality while you are telling this story. I like the little guitar break towards the middle and would have liked to hear more of that. Nice playing. The layers of drums, guitar and organ combine together in a very pleasing way, creating an interesting and beguiling sound "tapestry"! The treatment of drums was especially interesting at the very beginning with the thinner texture. Although the later pattern, with the "hits" on beats #3 was very catchy and effective, it might have been nice to vary the texture a little, using the earlier, more transparent drum pattern a couple more times throughout the song. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this. Great job, Neil! |

Very Good The musical side grabbed me initially, but as I read the lyrics I saw the other side of it. Good job. |

Great Influences I think the reason I like your music so much is that it fairly resonates with your 60's influences but just enough so that you know they are there but the songs always remain your own. I had heard Byrds, Dylan, Beatles, Beach Boys but hadn't heard the Bowie influence until someone mentions Major Tom and then yep there it is. Amazing that you soaked up all of that music and now it comes seeping back out so many years later in your own style and vision. |

A bit Beatles Like Sounds a bit beatles which is a compliment of course. I like the double vocals -it often works badly but you seem to have aniled it with this tune! I like lyrics of 'self awareness' -it really says what type of person you are. Cool |

Lennon-McCartney does Dylan tribute Nice John Lennon feel, who admired and tried to write like Dylan a few times. I like the McCartney-Harrison instrumental too. Would have liked a cutting bridge that turned my head upsidedown like some of the Lennon tunes. But there were never enough Lennon-McCartney songs and I thank you for this one. |

I am new to the site and just jumping around and found this song and I
like it. Reminds me of Major Tom a bit with your vocals. Not sure why lol
because the song doesn't really remind me of it but your vocals are very
well done. As the other person that posted here said the vocals sync is a
bit off but maybe that is the way it should be :D
