Keywords Christmas (157)Holiday (78)Latin (58)harp (59)cello (45)bells (44)
Description This is a Latin Hymn from the 13th century. It has a fairly interesting history, if you're into the history of hymns and sacred music, but suffice it to say that the modal sound of this tune, (with lots of open fifths and octaves in the harmonic structure), are really exploited in this arrangement. I've chosen a fairly unusual instrumentation of cello, glockenspiel, harp and hand drum.
Interestingly, there is a 1916 arrangement of this tune by Gustave Holst, which I don't like very much, because it's so ponderous, but it's been wildly popular as a processional in 'high' churches. I've not included the words here, mostly because there are so many English translations, and even the Latin words show some striking variations.
Hardware PB 15"
Software: GarageBand (sketched out with green bars while I was supposed to be filling out report cards.)

This is very well and simply done...
...letting the beauty of the underlying melody carry the whole thing...

I'm glad you've opted against 'ponderous'. This is a welcome addition to
my iTunes library. Thank you for posting it.

Very lovely
This is just beautiful - you did this all by editing software instruments? That's impressive - and this is a delight to listen to!

Beautiful
Nice arrangement. Very light.

Great instrument choices!

GarageBand instead of work? You've taken your first step into a larger
world.
