Well... it IS Friday night right now.... ...and I have not been to services in about 1,000,000 years (or so it seems). This takes me back. Rambling over. This is done extremely well. |

Nice chorus effect (not the choir) Dude, you seem to love the chorus effect. Not that there's anything wrong with it. I'm having flashbacks of when my teacher would play Chicago in the 4th grade. Nice m'shor'rim. Only now you have to pre-record it so they'll back you up in concert. haha. |

Fantastic singing Thats a fantastic sound in your vocals there... I especially love the deep, bass tones and hchckkkk sounds. The only thing that bugs me in this piece is the autopan you are using for the chorus. The images I get are of a male choir in a church (or what the jewish equiliant is) with one soloist standing out infront... and the choir in the back ground running back and forth across the stage. I would've preferred it if you had tried to set it up like it really would have been performed and done your best to make it as authentic as possible. Used a separate track for each part of the choir, panned across the stereo space (not hard left, hard right though)... and gave them more reverb than the soloist. I reckon that without the effects, you could have easily made this almost indistiguishable from the real thing. Which would've been really cool. Anyway, fantastic song, fantastic singing. Well done! |

Beautiful singing Solemn and reverent. This is something I would not hear at this season (figures, as I just completed a Christmas CD!), but I am so glad you posted this here. It's wonderful to hear sacred/holy music and you sing it with such feeling and love for the words, the sounds, the sentiment. Thank you for this! |

Powerful Vocals You did an excellent job on this Erik...Wish you would give a tutorial on how you achieve such a wonderful, expansive sound. If I knew your secret I might even be encouraged to give it a try myself...You really deliver the power of the words you are singing...especially in the bass notes you hit so beautifully....A definate download for me and I'm not even Jewish! Thanks, digitalnirvana9/Norman |

Beautiful and deep Erik, I found your singing quite moving, and it stirred things inside I don't really understand, nor care to - better to just let it affect me. It's part of The Mystery, and can't be understood anyway, so I willingly go on the journey it provides me with. As the music director of a church, I bow to the wonderful, inspiring music you've created here. Thank you for posting this beautiful music. |

Congratulations Mazel tov on getting this on NPR. I had missed this one from youbefore I saw your forum post about it today. Really magnificent singing and arrangement. So powerful. Awe and Dread do come to mind but in the best sort of way. My only criticism is the thumping that occurs in the lead vocals from some blowing into the mic. I think you can clear that up by EQ'ing out most of the 20-50Hz range. I've found that that range is where all pops and thumps reside but even really deep vocals are safely above, so you can do some EQ'ing down there without hurting the good sound of your vocals. Other than that, this sounds perfect to me. Happy New Year! |

L'shanah tovah! Like Peter, I missed this song earlier. I'm so excited for your broadcast! It's absolutely gorgeous. I always enjoy it here in your MacShul. |

wow... this is phenomenal, Erik |

Wow. This is lush! Great vocals in both the lead and backing. That
reverb just seems to fill my room with insence and light filtering
through stained glass. I'm not familiar with Jewish liturgicals, but am I
wrong in assuming some of the backing vocals have a modern take?
Some of the phrases in the middle feel very contemporary.
