Description Feeling totally helpless in the wake of the London bombings on July 7. 2005, I put this together in about two to three hours as my small way of showing my grief and support. The mix is rough and probably hard on the ears, but I wanted to put it on here right away, and just hope what I was trying to say comes through.

The tune is a traditional Latin hymn from I believe the 16th century and is intended to be a round.

The photo is from Reuters and shows a response to those bombings. I will remove it if this offends anyone.

One to many
I like how this piece starts out as one voice crying in
the wilderness -- or in a hotel room -- and
gradually gathers in additional voices via doubling
and counterpoint. The velocity and complexity build
to a unified chorus crying "peace". Then the lone
voice finishes off the piece with a "good night, sleep
well" soliloquy. This begs for voices.

Thanks for posting this!
I like the photo and the music. Not offended at all, and I don't understand how any one could be.

Equilibrium
I just finished posing a song I did that brought back many separating, wrenching emotions, even though my track is on the one hand tongue in cheek, but listening to this gave me equilibrium. Thanks.

Beautiful
Sometimes, our sorrow can be released by creating
something wonderful, and in this way, what
you've written has touched my heart. Thanks Magritte

This reminds me...
...of the scene in Kenneth Branagh's Henry V, after the battle
of Agincourt, as King Henry carries the body of a dead page
from the field and orders his men to sing...

Very beautiful, very moving, and I can't imagine anyone with
a heart and brain finding offense...The picture is beautiful,
too...

Wonderful
We sang this in my high school Camerata group and it's
always been one of my favorites. This is very beautifully
done and entirely appropriate. Bravo!

Grace and dignity
You expand this piece with grace and dignity, combining
simplicity with grandness. Healing and wondrous music.

Beautiful
Those instrument sounds are just great! Are they from
Jam Pack 4?

Well done. I'm going to have to have my kids at school
sing this sometime.

Speaking of kids at school, I have gotten lots of mileage
out of your "Beethoven's Rolling Over" piece. Everyone
loves it.

And thanks for your kind words about my "This Little
Light" piece.

That clarinet is especially realistic and well-played.

Capturing the moment...
is what you have accomplished with this tasteful
rendition of the Latin hymn. Rschletty said it well, a
single voice, then two more, then a chorus joining in
as prayer and loss are expressed. I found
listening to this provided a moment of encouragement
and balm as I remembered that day in London.
Thanks,

Jack

this is gorgeous.. arrangement is really nice. good
instrument choices, and the different sounds weave in and
out of each other nicely.

very rich. would have loved for it to be longer.

Church Bells
Magritte, you have a big heart and this is a touching tribute. It immediately put me in a large church with others who are there seeking comfort from our often screwed up world. Thanks for posting this. The song photo is not only appropriate but reverberates the peace and compassion in the song, as well. Nicely done.
