For the love of Marsha, people, this thread was ONE YEAR OLD when it was dug up from the grave!!! Let sleeping threads lie. Cobol's last post was January 2005, not January 2006...

Actually, though I agree that COBOL's pompous acidity can rest, WG's post/response is EXACTLY what many of us, who were scratching our heads for a year wondering what the fuss was with DP, were waiting for. A fairly objective, fairly detailed overview and history and current state of DP. Thanks WG, fellow San Diegan! Knowing a little more about other tools out there is very helpful. Wasting time reading forum rants is... not useful.

rmaclema, I love Marsha :D

On a more serious note, I read the thread because I was sent here by an apple phone rep that didn't know if DP could use GarageBand Instruments and thought I could find out here. Since this is my first time here and I don't usually read forums, I didn't bother to check the date. I am not even sure why you saw my post unless you have some post notifier still attached to the thread. Maybe you can switch it off lol

And thanks drakonis, besides being ignorant to the date of an old post, which I was, I probably still would have said my piece on it.

Couldn't help it. Alan asking if he paid a girl to go to the prom was too funny.

No harm done whatsoever. There's a little history, actually - in the past 3 weeks we've seen lots of old threads (that were mostly arguments) coming back to life. It's not so bad until a bunch of them happen in a row and it starts getting old, which is the only reason I posted to begin with. But it's not a huge deal. I think it's much more interesting that Apple support sent you to macjams. It's nice to get some referrals from Apple!

In terms of the forums and what's new, it's a box in the left hand column named "New Forum Posts" and it's a quick way, when you log into the site, of seeing if there's any new cool topic being discussed.

Regardless, welcome to macjams. Hope you consider posting some of your DP music here. It's a cool place and sort of like a family, though this family is very disfunctional and has some very wacky half cousins that we don't talk about much...

And you're right, Skipper - Alan's line was hilareous. :)
