I came to London to pursue a 'career' in music and it has been the most up and down journey in my life - I've had contracts given to me and taken away with the blink of an eye - why is it so hard to get ahead here? Coupled with the fact that I have always had a job, being able to be 100% focused and indeed have the energy. I know it's technically supposed to be easier these days, not needing a label to get you where you want to be, but I think one does need a label, if you want to make in such a way that you can only do music and survive.
Now - I am currently without a producer and it's amazing how a short time spent not gigging can zap your confidence so I am looking for someone who has the love and time to nurture a musical relationship, make high quality songs and who has or knows how to make serious links in the industry.
I look forward to hearing from you wherever you are!

![]() DWL | August 19, 2007 4:05:41 AM I can't honestly see it's harder to get on here (in the UK) than it is anywhere else. The music business is not exactly the most pleasant business to be involved in wherever you are. It's got little to do with music most of the time and much more to do with image and money. I spent more years than I care to remember gigging, writing and recording. We got good reviews for our CDs and great reactions at gigs. A record company we were working with gave a slot at Glastonbury then never even turned up to see us. We had all sorts of offers for tours and deals which never happened. That's reality I'm afraid. Even if you made a couple of singles the chances are you'd see very little money from them. Having said all that, if you have the drive and talent then keep plugging away. Post some of your stuff here. You never know, someone might be able to help :-) Good luck with whatever you do. Cheers Dick |

Agree with Dick on this - I've had similar dashed hopes. It's 'hard' because 1000's of people are all after the same thing - and only the most talented or connected float to the top. There are some top class producers here - they mau heed your call. Steve |
August 19, 2007 9:40:24 AM Perseverance is the word of the day- the best advice I can give. It's a cutthroat business, whether in music or acting. Like Chikoppi had mentioned, hook up with a good agency. You have a wonderful voice and I wish you the best! | |
![]() mitra | August 19, 2007 11:16:36 AM Well if I make it at the age of sixty I hope I won't be a too sore a sight for the eyes let alone the voice. Speaking of voice I like many others have been shouting for so long I may lose it soon. But enough of the whining, I think I must try to get back to the heart of it and remember that I love to sing and will always do so. Whatever happens happens and if I am lucky enough, I'll get 'connected' The responses to this post have been great - there is a great community here... |
