That's because reason and logic are different things. T-Hee.couldn't help it.Check out reason4.I'm bailing on the beta testing due to time constraints. If you know your way around reason apply to beta test Vers4. I know there is one slot opening up soon. Taylor

I'm really surprised you think that, since I don't know many people who use Reason, thus people won't realize you used that program.
(Do you know what I mean?)

Reason is a great program overall, it just has a confusing and complex interface (IMO).

I tried a few trial copies of Reason over the years, and I agree, Reason just sounds like, well...Reason. It's fine for using on a plane for a few hours when you don't have a guitar or keys.

I see it as kind of a non-musicians tool. You just click a few buttons and it plays itself basically--- and sounds kinda cool when it's doing it. I just never quite feel like I was at all responsible for what it was doing.... It already knew what it was going to do. I just turned it on.

It's kind of a "set it and forget it" rave musak box.

I prefer to play most of the instruments myself.

reasons engine and the way it handles audio isnt all that great, its a program that was designed for mass appeal and to be able to run easily on average to low end systems. its not that cpu intensive compared to some of the programs out there. for the price you cant complain.

if your trying to steer away from that reason sound my suggestion is if your using reason do not use the reason master suite or the eqs/compression within reason...thats what gives u the reason sound as well... get 3rd party plug ins or something like pro tools, cubase, logic, etc..

lol couldnt be farther from the truth, you just need to take the time to learn how to manipulate each component.. sure if all your doing is loading samples and sequencing them...NO you arent doing anything yourself your basically putting together a puzzle, not creating the puzzle. Once you learn how to alter the subtractor, combinator, and THOR especially u can create some fucked up samples and some cool sound beds.. but yea if all your doing is clicking and opening samples and presets...there is no intellegence/creativity involved. Reason is awesome, anyone that says otherwise needs to reevalute the program and spend more time with it.. btw your opinion sounded very bias. seems to me you have a jaded view.

hmm....then I would say that you have not pushed the envelope far enough with it yet.... Reason can pretty much do anything....esp. Reason 4..... any sounds, any style....sure you have to work with it and get it there....but I wouldn't say that everything pumped out of reason sounds like it came from Reason....just my opinion....

peace and future....Ian

I just bought reason and I wish I would have read up on it more. The store sales man misled me on what reason could do and could not. At first I was very unsatified with it. Now as I have started playing with it more and more I find it has alot of capabilities waiting to be found, there are endless combinations of sounds and fx that can be manipulated. Still I would have to agree with racerat on the fact that real instruments are better. I regret not buying logic

i'm pretty sure that Logic can do pretty much the same things as Reason (and then some), but I still wish that I had a copy. does anyone remember ReBirth? had a blast with that one. you can still download it for free if you have a classic mac system lying around.

Hi..Ego..If you were mislead to believe you could utilize Reason to have ANY form of real instruments instantiated..Then you should be able to go back to the music store and find the manager and explain the situation..Then get a refund towards a Logic purchase..Or petition the Prop.s about this misleading..

There is NO exscuse for a saleperson to be not held accountable for ignorance in this regard..ALL software is non-returnable,UNLESS,there has been a promise as to it's actual abilities and use within your specified system..

That said Reason 4 is a great program..But if it is not what you were lead to believe it was..That issue is a mute subject..Check it..JONK

yeah ego, take it back. you deserve to have what you really want. can't picture them giving you a hard time unless it was like 6 months ago. i didn't realize that reason was so cheap; if they take it back, you can get Logic Express for about another $20.

I couldn't agree more. Reason 4 is a POWERFUL music application. I use it with Logic and the two together are simply amazing.
