Has anyone else checked out Digidesign STRIKE Drum software yet?
I went to Guitar Center yesterday and was about to buy Native Instruments Battery 3, when I started playing with a STRIKE demo on a Mac G5 setup similar to mine.
I was blown away by how real the acoustic drums sounded.
It runs as a plugin, but can be a bit CPU intensive, so they sales rep recommended 2 Gigs of memory for best results.
Anyone else running ProTools checked this out yet?
It is perfect for drummer-less music makers like me!

![]() Mungo | June 23, 2007 8:19:12 AM Quote by: jiguma The only way to deal with the spammers in the MJ forum is to click on a thread below them in the forums and add a comment (even if the comment is just "bounce"). This bounces them further down and (eventually) off the list. If we work together on this they'll disappear really quickly. Whatever you do, don't reply to their posts - it just encourages them! ![]() Dragonas | June 23, 2007 1:45:48 PM DUDE, THIS IS NOT SPAM!!! I seriously had a question. Go listen to my music and you will see I need better drum software. |
![]() Dragonas | June 23, 2007 1:50:14 PM WTF??? I tried to reply to RTCooper lastnight but your "bounce" bullshit must have flagged admin because I think I think my post was removed. I do appreciate your vigilance trying to keep our forums clean, but I assure you I have no affiliation with Digidesign or Strike software. Anyways, I did purchase STRIKE, and now I have to upgrade my version of ProTools to 7.0 or higher, so I'm not a happy camper right now. |
![]() chakeres | June 23, 2007 2:03:52 PM DUDE, ( I hate it when someone calls someone DUDE) maybe a new handle would work better for you, we already have a 'Drakonis' on MJ and I would hate to have people think it's the same person using DUDE, WTF, and bullshit in the forum. |

Don't worry Chak, there's plenty of room for a DraKonis and a DraGonAs here at Macjams... he's 150 miles away from me, enough room to eliminate territorial disputes, and besides, he can play instruments, I can't (smirk.) He seems like a nice guy... I was even the very first to comment on his first song here. Dragonas, as for getting upset about the strange diversion about spam up there, it didn't have ANYTHING to do with people thinking your post was spam... it was the opposite, they were trying to lift your important question up out of the muck by bumping above the spam... I believe you have misunderstood the intent. Not a big deal. ttfn, Drakonis |
taylormorgan | June 23, 2007 2:23:49 PM Hi. Let me interject. Mungo is just posting that "Thing" everywere. Guess He thinks He's cute. So that was not a response to your post just M being M> However Chakeres should definately go fuck himself for being such a dudeless asshole. I above all should know about being an asshole and by far and away on this one he is just being an ass. Don't worry about it and post whatever you want. The beautiful ones here at MJs are actually quite a good lot. But sometimes we all get a turn at being an ass. So it's Cs' turn.No worries.Taylor ...Don't worry you will come upon me being more an ass than C..I'm sure more than a few here will agree. |
![]() chakeres | June 23, 2007 2:58:32 PM taylormorgan, I don't pick fights here at MJ and I'm not going to fuck myself and I don't think I'm a dudeless asshole. I just hate it when someone uses the word DUDE, more in the sense of a put down rather then an acknowledgment. And I just wanted to point out there was another Drakonis at MJ and not do what I did at first, which was thinking it was the 'Drak' I know. |
![]() Dragonas | June 24, 2007 3:22:16 AM Wow, Thanks for the support Drakonis and Taylor. I didn't understand what that "bounce thing was all about. I just got confused and didn't know what was going on. (Which seems to happen quite a lot! :-)) Chakeres, you need to understand that I'm here to chill out and talk about music, not discuss the finer points of grammar. I think, some clarification is in order for Chak: 1. When I say "DUDE" it is not a put down. I am an avid surfer, a musician (who works in the music business), and a southern Californian. I say dude to people at work and on the internet. I say Dude to everyone. 2. The whole point of this thread is to discuss a drum plug-in that I just bought at Guitar Center. 3. I consider the MacJams forum to be a "safe place" for me and other musicians to speak openly and candidly to each other in a non-formal way. 4. (MOST IMPORTANTLY) I'm not about to change my handle, it's the name of my band. Dragonas is a nickname given to me in high school and it stuck. |
![]() Dragonas | June 27, 2007 1:24:05 PM Well, I called Apple and got ordered OS X Tiger, and they even gave me an educational discount because I told them I was still a student! Whoo-Hoo! So hopefully should have it in the mail by today. I only have one concern: some people say it is better to save all of your work on an external hard-drive and do a "clean install" with OS X Tiger. Does it really effect the performance of my computer if I just insert the install CD without cleaning out my hard-drive first? Cheers, Dragonas |

Dragonas, I should have clarified myself a little better and at first I thought you were trading on Drakonis handle. I don't expect you to change your handle, it was just at that moment in time your posts struck me the wrong way. In hindsight I did come off as a bit of an ass and I have to live with that. I still don't like the word DUDE maybe I could live with a lowercase dude. JAC |

![]() Dragonas | June 28, 2007 4:34:42 PM No harm, no foul. It's all gravy. It's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. I can definitely try to keep it down to a lower-case "dude" in the forums.(';)') Cheers to everyone on Macjams! One big dysfunctional musical family!':D' LOL Peace, Dragonas |

![]() Dragonas | June 29, 2007 2:28:19 AM Hey Rover, I installed OS X Tiger and everything seems ok so far. I upgraded to 10.4.9 combo, because www.digidesign.com said that 10.4.10 wasn't tested with Pro Tools 7.3 yet. Everything seems cool so far, but it's running slow now. I need more RAM. I only have 512 MB DDR SDRAM right now. Do you know the cheapest place to buy RAM sticks (1GB)? Musician's Friend has 1 GB sticks for $149. Does the brand of the RAM matter? |
