Hey everyone, I work with a software synth company called KeyToSound, and we're doing a contest beginning April 1st to the 30th with http://www.trackbattle.org. The overall gist of it is this: download Remedy, the free synth from http://www.keytosound.com, then make an entire song (maximum length 3 minutes, any genre is acceptable) using only Remedy (in your favorite host program of course, such as Garageband) - this includes drums - and upload your .mp3 somewhere where you can post a link to it in the Trackbattle Remedy Contest forums. At the end of April, KeyToSound and Trackbattle will pick the top ten submitted tracks, and then Trackbattle users will vote on the best overall track, with the winner receiving a full boxed version of KeyToSound's Nexsyn Soft-synth!

You can find full rules and more information and join the forums at Trackbattle.org. Get cracking! We want to hear what everyone can do!

Is it okay to have vocals on the track?

Thanks. I downloaded Remedy for the Mac/ Got the AU version loaded it and fired up GB. Now what do I do, I can't get many of the controls to move?

The arpeggiator seems completely stuck. I can switch it on and off but not do anything else and other controls only move very slightly if at all.

I'm sure I'm missing something here.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Sussed it......

Left click on knob and move the cursor away. I was trying to push the knob round.

Sorry, first time I've ever used one of these things :)

Cheers

It is a little bit hard to control... I sure hope the prize eclipses this little synth.

It also crashes Logic for some reason. Perhaps there are some prefs I'm not seeing. :?

It crashes GB as well. I've been playing with it a bit when I finished work today and every session I've tried GB has crashed.

That's within a song with a number of tracks but also in a song with just one track getting used to the sounds.

I've got 2gb of memory on an 1.83ghz Intel iMac.

Edit : Another 2 crashes and subsequent force quits in the past 30 minutes using Remedy. I think someone needs to look at this :( Sorry.

Cheers

Dick

hey Ledebutant, I think for this contest (since it's our first), we're saying that it's Remedy only, but we do plan on doing one where you can integrate vocals.

Dick: I will look into your issue and help you out with it. I'm sorry you're having issues! Sometimes things pop up out of the woodwork :(

Jchoose - there aren't any extra preferences for Remedy. However I have not seen it crash logic in my experience. I will drop you a PM to troubleshoot your issue.

I can assure you that the prize is worth it - if you have not read up on our other synth, Nexsyn, it is a rack based synth with three oscillators and the ability to use sampled and synthesis based patches, and includes an online preset sharing system called Netnotes which allows you to share and acquire presets thru an internet based system - kind of like a myspace of sound designers.

You can also read the most current writeup about Nexsyn in this month's Remix magazine (we're on the front cover). Again, I apologize for the tech issues, I will do all I can to take care of them for you guys.

Thanks, I'm enjoying playing with the sounds so a stable version would be great.

Cheers

Hey Dick, have you been having any luck with those things I suggested in my prior email?

hey Wifi, the drums, synths, everything in the song have to come out of
Remedy. You can add effects, but you can't take the sounds from Remedy and put them into a sampler or a different sequencer, as then the sound source is not Remedy. I will be putting up some packs of Remedy presets on our website, keytosound.com, later on today (4/16) that will have some drums and the like in them that you can use. It is actually pretty easy and fun to make drums with Remedy, but you can use the presets too, if you want.

Let me know if you have questions... and I can't wait to hear what you guys do. Email me if you have issues... and go to http://www.trackbattle.org to get in on it!

I've also just put a preset pack of my own up here:

http://www.keytosound.com/downloads/brian_botkiller_preset_pack.zip

Download and unzip it to the /keytosound/remedy/remedy files/presets folder.

I've got lots of arps, drums and wonky sounds in there, so have fun!

So has anyone entered? Apart from me, that is? I didn't recognize any of the names. This is a fun little synth. Very easy to program, and it sounds quite nice.

Victor.

Hey everyone, if you got in on the Remedy song contest at Trackbattle.org, or even if you didn't (for shame!), now is the time to start voting for your favourite tracks from the contest! Go to Trackbattle.org and click on "vote for trackbattle contests", listen to all the entries and make your vote right there on the page! We need your support to get the word out, so please take a moment to have a listen!

Take care,

brian
