Subject: preamp for protools

Hey hey - looking for some recommendations.

I have a protools mbox 2 set up on a 15'' macbook pro.
also have a fender deluxe hotrod amp that i play my axe through.

Im look to do some recording into protools and im assuming i can't just run the amp straight into the mbox. going to need a 4 - 8 channel preamp/mixer for this - i'd also need some 48v phantom power on it as well.


any suggestions? mackie?

nah dude, you're making things too hard on yourself.

The quick answer is that the Mbox has preamps built in - run your favorite mic into the XLR and record your cabinet while you're playing.

A very good choice is to pick up a Presonus TubePre for like $100... they sound better than the preamps in the MBox.

There are about a thousand options for preamps ranging from $45 to $4500+. In the case of a preamp, you go XLR to your microphone, then output from your preamp to your MBox, probably with 1/4" cables.

i have a preamp out on my amp. - can i just run signal directly out of my amp into the mbox?
