Maybe someone here could help me out or at least point me in the right direction.

I recently purchased MOTU's MachV soft sampler under the assumption that it would allow me to use GarageBand's SI's with DigitalPerformer. Well, it doesn't seem to be working. If it does, I am at a complete loss as to how to get this going.

I've got a song I am working on right now that is going to require a string section. I'd like to be able to do the whole thing in DP but, if I can't get the string section going on, I guess I'll have to release the GarageBand version. I don't really have a problem with that except that I'm trying to wean myself off GB. I want the higher bit/sample rates offered by DP.

Maybe one of you geniouses could help a guy out? Maybe I shoulda just got a symphonic instrument plug in instead of a (what I thought would be) a do-it-all solution. Still may decide to go that route if I can't get MachV working with my existing JamPacks. But, as many of you know, I have a gear addiction in the extreme and really don't want to have to spend even more. Blah!

I may have found a solution

It turns out that sf2's will work with MachV. And there are many, many free ones available for download. :D

Now, for my next question. Can anyone recomend some really good string section sf2? Maybe provide a link to some music on this site where said sf2 has been used?

Well, I couldn't get the sf2's to work either. I dunno. I'm starting to get a head ache.

I think the problem is two fold. 1. I can't figure out the routing required and 2. I can't get any sounds to show up in MachFive.

Have you tried asking MOTU tech support?

techsupport@motu.com

Or perhaps one of the User Groups?

I have posted on the UnicornNation forum to no avail. They keep telling me to read the manual...which I've done over and over

I s'pose if I can't figure it out soon I will be calling tech support. I'll have some time to work on it this week so, that's what I'll do. I was just hoping I could find a quick and easy solution without the condecention of tech support.

Thanks

Well, just an update. I was on the phone with Sweetwater Tech Support. Got MachV running in DP finally! :D Took them about 2 minutes to find my problem.

Still can't play GB instruments in it but, that's ok. I found out that if I install the samples from the disc that came with MachV, I have lots and lots of sounds and instruments to play with. I needed a string section for this song I've been working on and MOTU provided one:D

Off to the races! B)
