First upgrade to 10.4 - it will make your life significantly easier. And then just do stuff. There is nothing like learning as you go. If you really need outside help, try the Computer Music website, they have plenty of tutorials on various aspects of computer recording, plus I do believe I've seen a book or two advertised there that deal with PTLE. Good luck, Shaky

hold on hold on

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 10.4 without first checkin' with Digidesign as what Hardware and OS systems are authorised.

check www.digidesign.com first. select 'support' then 'compatability'
PT 6.4 is authorised on Panther 10.3.2, 10.3.4 and 10.3.5 only

if you upgrade to Tiger 10.4 you'll have to upgrade to at least PT 6.9.2
but if you can... upgrade to PT 7 (but you'll Tiger to run PT7)

enjoy

It's worth the $75 to upgrade to Pro Tools 7 so that you can work under Mac OSX 10.4 - it's a HUGE improvement on 6.4 for sure. I have to teach version 6.4 in my weekend class because that's all the college has, but I use 7 at home. I'm constantly frustrated that I can't teach some of the great new features in 7 like loops, instrument tracks, EQ-III and dynamics-III, etc.

Definitely go for 7 if you can!

I learned a lot from this book. It's more of a hands on lab than a tutorial.
