Hello

You guys seem to be into musicmaking on the Macintosh. I use a PC myselfe and wonder how the Mac is when it comes to creating music.

Do Mac´s have any Tracker-sequencer softwares? Like the programs originating from the Amiga 500 and Atari 520st era starting with its "Soundtracker". This type of hexdecimal sequencer interface is what i prefere myselfe since of that i have been using it for more than a decade, but on the PC they are half-done somehow and lacks of that oldschool software technology.

Could a Mac fill my needs in this question?

I can't speak for PC's as far as music goes but I do know as far a graphics go the are like those kit sports cars. They look great but there still is a VW bug motor under the hood. Mac from day one have been designed as a graphic based machines that can handle vast amounts of data we ease. I think just by its inherent design it is well suited for music. I don't know of some of the programs you talk about, but I've used ProTools, Logic, and GarageBand on the Mac and they are all quite powerful and work well.

The easiest way would be if you can go to either compusa or a mac retailer near you. You'll get better (hopefully) service at the retailer. The demo units will be loaded with basic software including garageband. The retailer may be able to load their own copy of protools or logic (if they have them) or download the free demos (as applicable) and show you them. This will allow you to see what your looking for. I think you will be suprised and happy.
