Hi all, got a quick (hopefully) question here,
my Logic files are, for some reason seperate (ie. Channel Strip Settings, Plug-In Settings, Key Commands, MainStage Scripts, Project Templates, Tuning Tables, Ultrabeat Samples)
Sooo, when I open Logic the instruments, etc. don't show up.
Where should I move these files to?

Also, is there a way to play piano roll with the keyboard like in Fuity Loops or GarageBand?

Thanks, and sorry if either of these have been asked before.

Hi..I don't really understand your question..

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic..Withni the Logic folder..

There should be folders for all you described..Double click to see the contents..In your user area using the same path you will find similar folders, but without anything if you haven't saved anything there..

This said however if you are a new user I don't know if you are opening the correct track..

This is way to complex to get into without you explaining in more detail why you can't find the instruments..Explain what you are doing...

First off how are you opening Logic ??..Once open create a software instrument and make sure to check the "open Library box at bottom left.. ( the key command for openning and closing the libray is Option/L )Then select any of the items at right in the media browser..Theese are channel strip settings..Or on the left in the Inspector, clik the empty slot below I/O ,you may need to hold the clik a second..Select and instrument to load..If the media browser at rite is open you will see the patches for the plugin avaiable to load...

Or after opening Logic under File select new.Close the one open and select one of the templates..They will load some presets.. I'm tired..

More detail would be best..I will try and help if possible..But not with anything other than getting you up and running..I won't go into anything to do with the piano roll..Let's get you up and running first..Also go buy a book...

Here is a must have book if you are new.. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Pro-Training-Logic-Express/dp/0321502922/ ...Go buy it and sit down and work thru it..You will be up and running in less than an hour.. JONK

Long day here so kind of all over the place..Make sure the Record button is clikked for the track you want to hear or you won't hear it...

OK.Real quik on the piano roll..."P" opens the piano roll editor..

"esc" opens the tool menu..Clik pencil and in the piano editor you can now draw in notes..You should look to the right of both the Arrange window and the piano roll window and see 2 icons..The one to the left is assigned to the mouse when you clik..The one to the rite of that ( you select what you want from the drop down menu ) makes Apple or Command what ever you want to call it..Change the mouse to the tool selected..You can make them different for either window..By default I believe if you hold down the Apple key AND YOU MUST have the cursor in the piano editor..It will change to the pencil tool and you can just clik and drag notes..Make sure in the upper left of the piano editor the midi out icon is lit..It will glow green or you won't hear what you are inputing with the mouse...

Or just clik return to get to the beginning of the track and press "R" and you can watch your midi notes appear in real time in the piano area..To close the piano window just clik P again..This ain't garageband..Seems you have LP8 or you wouldn't have mainstage..To much info..JONK

One last thing..In Logic you need to be aware of your "key focus"..This is the area that is highlighted..When you do something like say have the arrange open the select the pinao editor and alo have the Library open..It matters which area is active..Use the TAB button to see what happens..It highlights each open window..Take note at the top of each how this works..This is a simple one to get to grips with..An example would be if you have the Library open then select LOOP..Now clik an apple loop so it plays..Spacebar to stop..But if you drag the loop into the arrange window and clik the spacbar..The transport won't start because the key focus is stil on the loop browser..The spacebar will stop and start the loop but not the transport..You need to either clik in the arrange window or simply clik tab til the arrange windo is highlighted..Then the spacbar will engage the transport..Like I mentioned this isn't garageband..And honestly once you start to do this stuff you will see how much quikker and productive Logic is over GB..I'm babbling..
