What about the Zoom?

Maybe that is over kill for what you want not sure.

But when i was on KSVY (Blaine's station) he displayed that to me for the for first time.

It works independently, so it should be fine for pc or mac.

I think it is usb ready.

Good luck !!!

Audacity is pretty popular (it's good, and free).

Audacity is the best. However, in order for you to export in an MP3 format, you will also need to download/install the L.A.M.E. Framework

What is great about the Zoom is that it is like a cassette, it is basic in that you just turn it on and away you go. It is like a mic but only you record into it. Blaine really impressed me with it. But with software inside a pc, I can see were you can get overwhelmed with things to do. But this thing is just plug and play (record). OF course you have to import, but it comes in as a wav file I believe. So you can actually change it to .mp3 in itunes for the pc and upload.

Even if it wasn't edited, MJ I think would be quite forgiving I think if it wasn't edited.
I mean I hear a cheap mic here at MJ here and there, and you would be doing quite well to have a gadget like, because I hear that the mic is pretty good.

But of course if you are looking at a low price it may not be what you want.. But I think it was around 200 for a new one.

Good luck either way!
