My 16-year-old son wants to get an iPod touch. That's fine, but we have a family rule that the computers in our house with Web access are in a public place. I am not sure I trust him with a fully functional Web browser in his bedroom.
Does anyone know if the iPod touch allows for parental controls?
He has his own account on our main family Mac, with parental controls in place, and as far as I know, it works great.
Thanks,
John

![]() chipan | September 18, 2008 12:04:09 AM I have the first version of the iPod touch and so far I don't think there are any parental controls available. You might ask Apple to include it. If Apple gets enough customer requests they might do something about it. Good luck. Chip |

You could randomly check the history on his iPod Touch. It will be obvious if he is clearing the history because ALL of the history for a certain period will be missing. That said, I have to say that I think it's really tough for parents to know everything their kids are looking at and that it's a really precious gift for a parent to give their kid to say, "Hey, I can't be with you everywhere you go, but I trust you to make good decisions." |

geneucla | November 13, 2008 12:25:47 AM For those still looking for parental controls, our company currently has a content filtering solution for the iPod Touch in private beta. You can learn more at http://www.mobicip.com. The solution we are currently testing is free, but we are intending to offer a premium version with more robust features in the near future in addition to our free version. If you would like to participate in the beta test, you can do so by signing up at the website. We hope to be available on the App Store in the very near future.
