Dion DiMucci, of Doo Wop fame (Dion and the Belmonts), still sounding as good in his mid-sixties as when he was 16. And he clearly is enjoying performing as if he is just at the beginning of his career:

Years after Doo Wop faded as a top of the charts sound, Dion came back with one of his most memorable songs... a whole new sound that met and fit the times:

Maybe Dion's best known and most played song, Run Around Sue. From a 1990 concert in the UK:

The guy can sing!!

My favorite of the rock n roll era stuff was The Wanderer although Run Around was good and Ruby Baby etc. My favorite Dion is one no one knows about and is now sadly mostly out of print. That was the late 60's early 70's folk, blues, acoustic Dion. I have a vinyl album of him that is just him and an acoustic guitar that is fantastic. There is a blues album that he put out about five years ago that has it's moments. iTunes store has five or six good cuts on a compilation album called The Road I'm On. My friend Greg and I loosely based our arrangement of 900 Miles on a version Dion did on that album. Abraham, Martin and John although a little idealistic summed up more of the trauma of the sixties in one song than anyone before or since. What would the US be like now if those three assasinations had not taken place? Well we wouldn't have had a president named Nixon and probably not named Reagan, or Bush either. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Yes, Dion was very cool.

Should, woulda, coulda had a V-8.

Say, I bought a trumpet at a rummage sale. Does that count for anything?
