Hi. I have taken a few pics with the iPhone, but the avatar is not one of them. I really love the GPS feature. Watching the blue dot move real time while we drive is a NICE feature.

Judging by the size of those hands, I'd say so! Bass player perhaps? :P

I have the "old" iPhone... the 8G non GPS, non 3G version... It has been without a doubt the BEST cell phone I've ever owned from a stand point of ease of use.

The 2.0 update, while cool has produced some new issues, one being reduced battery life. So we await another update. Still the phone is well worth the $$$.

One you have one, you'll never go back... I've had blackberries, motorolas, LGs, nokias, windows mobile based phones, you name it.

Apple just did it right.

Thanks for all the comments about Baby Doofy™. I can't wait until he can make some noise out here with the rest of us. :D

As for the iPhone, this thing really is phenomenal. I love all the silly, free apps. Some are actually REALLY useful.

As for the battery life, yes, 3G does suck up a lot of battery power, s I have switched 3G off unless I absolutely need it. Using Edge, the battery lasts a good, long while.

My typing is getting much better on it, too. The Blackberry has nothing on the iPhone. I didn't use BBs very much, but I used to configure them all the time.

Well, I guess you're right. I'm sure they would have wanted to put iChat on, and I'd guess that the guys over at AT&T, and Telekom etc. *were* indeed looking at the millions and millions they make via SMS and said "NO!"

Data flatrate, OK. But without getting around SMS.

Our normal plans (per month) in Germany are:

50 EUR inc 40 SMS and 100 minutes talktime (within Germany)
70 EUR inc 150 SMS and 200 minutes
90 EUR inc 300 SMS and 1000 minutes

and the fine print says "No instant messaging or IP telephony allowed"

The funny thing about SMS is that the industry had NO IDEA that would become so popular. At the beginning of GSM they were even free. Then people started using software to split up large chunks of data into little 160 character packets... and so they started charging. Then teenies started getting phones and WHOOSH loads of money started sloshing in (and OUT of parents' wallets)...

*sigh*
