but digging round in others catalogues to find something could be half the fun

For the most part, covers are a good thing. Usually during the summer I only use a lightweight cover. In fact, I just got a really nice summer weight comforter made out that really soft, shiny stuff they're making stuff out of now. I forget what it's called. It works better for me than just a blanket since I have the air conditioner blowing right on me at night. During the winter, I have a good, heavy comforter that's usually all I need, but I also have several quilts that I use that were hand-made by my mom. I'm torn about using them too often. On the one hand, I want to use them because they were made by my mom. On the other hand, I don't want to use them too much and wear them out because they were made by my mom.

See the dilemma there?

Anyway, thats enough about my covers. What about anyone else's covers?

I don't know if I'll have the time to jump in on this challenge, but feel free to cover any of my songs. Drop me a line to let me know so I can be a part of the audience.

i don't want to do this. rsorensen's gonna do all our songs better than us and we're gonna hate him for it. *pout* :-)

actually, i'm not sure how i feel about my new tunes. maybe ask me first. tell you what, though, i open up ten dollar thompson covers to anyone who knows of my obscure former band. (which is all of one person, i believe.) we'd have to do the paperwork if you wanted to go commercial with it, of course.

Okay, I finally decided on a great song to cover and the original MJer gave me the nod. Will I wreck it, will it wreck me or will it all actually work?

September will tell - let's have some fun now, hmmm?

definitely a good thing that we have until september. there are a ton of great songs, and it's going to be a difficult decision to make. suppose I could always do a medley.

Has this been taken on by someone as an actual MJ Challenge?

Is there a coordinator? Any details on a deadline, guidelines, where to post, etc?

Well, I'm in too, but there's a little problem. Not fully understanding the CC license when I joined I used the most restrictive , Attribution, no derivatives, no commercial, on most of the songs I've posted.

So, if anyone wants to use one of my songs, just drop me a note and I'll okay it with out any problems.

From now on I'll see to it that the license is set to share alike and there will be no further problems. Sorry about that, but now I know better.

Like I said drop me a note and no problems on a share alike use of any of my songs.

I added a note to my profile stating something similar.

But I'm planning to continue to use restrictive CC licensing - mostly to keep tabs on where (if ever) any of my songs may get used. You may want to do the same... just a thought.

(This was discussed starting around page 5 of this thread. Tobin gave us an open OK on all his songs for just this Challenge.)

Just found this note Tim. Such a nice sentiment. I've tried to cover my own tunes and sometimes I can't figure for the life of me what I did.

Sounds like a good idea...!
When I came up with it and posted it awhile ago I got such luke warm response that I thought nobody was interested... I have been gladly proven incorrect on this one....

Okay, sorry for the delay. I guess since it was my bright idea, I will take on the role of coordinator. I will make little reminder posts about the challenge so that no one forgets, and I will make a page for it later today. I have been working on my cover, and it's been so much fun, I am thinking about doing a collection of MJ covers, but all in the same style. This is going to be a blast, so everyone start digging through the back catalogs of your fave artistes, and prepare to dazzle us.

Wish I had time to do something for this...alas I will be away for the whole of August on a trip to England and away from my 'toys'.
