I have had this idea for awhile: since we can't do straight covers here at MJ, I propose that we cover each others songs. Of course you would have to ask the artist who wrote the song for permission first. I for one welcome anyone who wants to cover one of my songs.
I think it would also give people a little nudge to dig through peoples back catalogs, looking for a forgotten gem.
Does anyone have any desire to take part in a challenge of this sort? If not, I can just let the dream die. What do you say?

Perhaps (just an idea), those wanting something 'covered' might even be able to suggest a genre they might like to be covered in, or go for 'the lucky dip'....dunno if this is a good suggestion for those like me who pretty much just 'arrange'.... Can we ask the artist for their chord progression though? If they know it that is - in my case I have trouble covering my own material. |
